I just want to give out a compliment!! This restaurant is the best Italian restaurant in Canton. They never disappoint and they are always very friendly to everyone who comes. Their meat sauce is sooooooo good! Today I tried the meat tortalenni however you spell it. lol it was soooo good. They give you a generous amount of food always. My husband got the veal paramesian which was out of this world! This place is always busy and it's because their food is excellent. Today we had Johnna as our waitress and I tipped her $20 because she so sweet and so very kind. I love that girl like my own daughter and watched her grow up into such a lovely and beautiful young lady. To the owners of this restaurant I always wish you well! Please please, please never close! You're the only Italian place I love in Canton. If anything knock out another wall next door and make the place bigger you always seem to do such great business there and always busy we are there. All of the other Italian restaurants in Canton don't even come close to your food! Thank you for such excellent food! We will always eat here! We've had excellent experiences dining in at Palermo. The wait staff is friendly. The pizza has always been wonderful, and the antipasto salad is so generously topped that you're often left wishing there was more lettuce for the toppings. I can't say the my carryout experience was as good. We ordered a large pizza. At the price point they charge, it should be consistently wonderful. There was no sauce on any part of the pizza except right up near the outer crust. Their sauce is part of what makes their pizza so good. If this had been the first time I'd ordered their pizza, I would not be back--at least not for pizza. I also ordered a medium Greek salad. It came with one 4 oz. container of dressing ¾ full, and ¼ of that was feta cheese. There was not nearly enough dressing for the salad. The chef horizontally cut up about ¼ or more of an onion and placed the circular slices of onion on top of the lettuce and then piled everything else on top of that. When I went to get salad out with tongs, the tongs picked up some of the circular onions, causing a bunch of feta and beets to spill onto the counter. I had to dig the onions out, throw half of them away, and cut the rest up so they could be picked up with a fork as part of the salad. The bottom of the salad container had water in it, so I had to dry the lettuce on the bottom before putting the leftovers away so it wouldn't get soggy. I don't often call to complain, but since I didn't enjoy any of my dinner, I picked up the phone. The manager said he was sorry and said he'd remake it if I bring it back right then. Who has time for an extra half hour of driving and a half hour to wait for another order to be cooked? I explained this and he said he understood and said when I come back, mention this to him and he'll give me a discount. I don't know who I talked to and don't really think I should have to mention this to him. This isn't how I expected this situation to be handled, so I'm disappointed. If we go back it'll be to dine in, and fingers crossed there's sauce on all of the pizza and the salad is made correctly. read more

This restaurant is packaging carryout dinners in cheap clear plastic containers that CANNOT keep the food warm. You must use foam containers and or aluminum containers to keep food warm. We ordered 3 dinners last night and 2 of them were ice cold because of this. Also my meal did not include the grilled chicken that was supposed to be in it. I have been a big fan of Palermo's for a while but the last 3 experiences have been bad. Not going back. read more

Palermo was highly recommended so I finally game it a try. The restaurant was extremely busy. 20 people waiting for tables. In spite of how crazy busy it was, the staff was super friendly and helpful. 5 stars to the staff. The food was good. The wings were a little soggy but had nice flavor. The pizza is really good but needed much more sauce. Some people prefer it that way but I like a lot more than this had. Next time I will order with extra sauce because I did taste it with the bread sticks and it's delicious. The bread sticks were also pretty good. Finally, I really enjoyed the cannoli. I saw some of the other food and it also looked good. Not the best pizza I've ever had but it was good and I'll be back. read more

First time here with some friends. This is a nice spot off busy Ford Road with plenty of parking. There is a main dining room and what looks to be an addition that's just as large. It'd be good for a special event up to probably 50. Service here is very cordial. This place is obviously well managed. We had the lasagna, salads, a sub and pizza. We agreed everything was great. Nice sized portions too. They don't push the alcohol sales but they have beer and wine. No liquor. We will be back. read more

Palermo has the best pizza, their Pizza Marinara, in Canton. Their other pizzas are very average. Their meatball subs is also the best I've found in Canton, but the visit was disappointing because the service was terrible. We went there after the lunch time rush and the place was empty except for two waitresses. We sat ourselves and ordered. The food was brought out and was good as always. However, the service today really sucked. The two gals were more interested in gabbing instead of doing their job. I get it that you can be friends at work, but you still need to do your job properly. No waitress came by to ask how things were while we were eating, and the salt was missing from our table. A waitress who took her job seriously would have noticed and corrected that. Finally, when we were done eating our waitress came by and asked how the food was. LOL, better very late than never I guess. The standard in the food industry is to check with your customers within 5 minutes after the food arrives. This gal waited 20mins. I would understand if the place was packed, but with nobody in the restaurant, I would have thought they would have done a much better job. The gnocchi with cheese is so good and the sauce for the breadsticks is so tasty. A hint of sweet and not overpowering but perfect. We have gotten pizza a couple times now and they always have a ton of toppings- almost too much but it's still at tasty. Service is always friendly and fast. read more

I've been going to Palermo's for as long as we've lived in Canton. Their cheese pizza is the best in town, and the other pies are pretty great. I recently called in an order for a Meat Lover's pizza. Yet when I arrived, they had mistakenly made a Super Deluxe (When I called in the order, did I say "Meat Lovers", or "Meat Deluxe"? I can't swear to it.). I said No, I'd ordered the Meat Lovers. The immediately said they'd make a new pizza for me. So here's where I trash them, give a 1-star review, and swear I'll never eat there again, right? No, because I'm not a whiny, spoiled 7-yr. old. They offered me a seat at the bar, and a complimentary beverage. I waited about 15 minutes while my new pizza was prepared. I paid for my pie, thanked them for the drink, and went on my way. That's what mature adults do. Sometimes mistakes happen. I've been coming here for more than a decade, and that may be the first mistake they've made on one of my orders. I'm not going to trash them in a review, or swear to "never eat here again". They made a mistake, They apologized to me, offered me a drink while I waited. Palermo has quickly become my favorite delivery in Canton. The pizza (especially that delicious crumbly sausage) is fantastic. I ask for a little extra sauce, because the sauce is fantastic. The kids love the ravioli delivered as well. However, dining in wasn't quite the same experience. As another reviewer noted, the place smells like sour tomato sauce. They need a deep cleaning or shampooing in the dining room. The place looked clean, but it was a very off-putting smell for someone who had never been there before. The service was not up to par. They put up with our kids, but we had some odd missteps like appetizers coming out with the meal and empty water cups. There were groups of employees conversing loudly by the bar/cash register and hanging out, even though there were only three tables occupied in the restaurant and we could have used a bit more attention. I asked for the server's recommendation for my salad dressing. She suggested ranch. I asked which of the dressings were made in-house, and she shrugged and said "none of them." I asked a couple more questions about what was made in-house (not remembering the specifics) and it sounds like they're mostly a pizza place with a lot of Gordon Food Service ingredients to make pasta (rather than an Italian restaurant making their own food who happen to also do great pizza). Another Yelper believes their breadsticks come from a freezer bag, but they were so oddly shaped and tasted fresh that I'm siding with Palermo's on this one. The garlic bread was good but didn't taste super fresh. I didn't really notice the fresh-vs-frozen difference when ordering delivery, but it was apparent for dine-in. I think I'll stick with delivery for now, even though those kids specials are a pretty impressive deal. read more

Pizza is great. Anything made with their red sauce seems to be great, as long as the sauce isn't burned. We've had a few dishes made with sauce that was obviously from the bottom of the pot. I keep trying to give their Alfredo sauce a chance. It's just a hard no. It's from a jar. It's disappointing that an Italian restaurant charges $16-$19 for a pasta dish made with jarred sauce. A couple close friends had recommended this place so we gave it a try. We got a pizza and cheese bread and upon opening the pizza box, there were a couple fingernail length scurrying bugs along with the pizza. I tried to explain to the manager Paul that I didn't care how they got there, I didn't want a credit or replacement, just my money back. I had no plans of eating there again. After 5 minutes of him making excuses like "bugs just get into food sometimes" (no they don't, it's 20 degrees outside, they probably live in the building) and how they sold 400 pizzas last night and no one complained about bugs and it's clean there. By the end, he said he was too busy to issue a refund yet had enough time to argue with me. This place can get very crowded but we were lucky to be able to get a table within 5 minutes on both the times we visited. The waitstaff is friendly and seems to throughly enjoy one another (a bit too much possibly). At times it seemed that there was more time and effort being put into their interactions with one another than in their customers. Both times we ordered a large marinara pizza. We were visiting the area and met a high school friend. They said if we didn't care to drive 25 minutes that they would recommend we eat at this place. We would've driven an hour easily. The service was spectacular, and the food was amazing. We had the garlic cheese bread, a meatball sub, and fries. We struck up a conversation with someone cleaning the table next to ours, it turns out it was one of the owners! Since moving to Canton a few years ago this place has become our standard spot to satisfy our pizza cravings. My favorite is the traditional cheese and pepperoni - I love the pools of hot grease shimmering on top of the cheese when it's fresh out of the oven. Having said that, be warned that the leftovers aren't as good as some other places, and if you do attempt leftovers, for goodness sakes, throw them in the oven (i.e. Do not microwave). Usually not a problem for us...we rarely have leftovers! Salads are pretty tasty and pasta dishes get good reviews by others. I can't bring myself to order anything other than pizza personally. Go at lunch time and you will score on two great lunch deals: salad and personal size pizza or salad, soup and bread stick (which are super yummy with lots of butter and parm cheese). You will wonder how they stay in business as there is never a lunch crowd. But go for dinner on the weekend and you might have a wait. It really doesn't matter when you go, just go if you're in the mood for some old school pizza - the kind that takes a little longer to make but you know it's going to be fresh and delicious when it arrives at the table. read more
