I'm not sure but something has changed. We've dined a few times recently before I've updated the review. The pasta is overcooked, the sauces are flavorless, the seafood overdone. The new'ish server was rude and messy. She had our food on her sleeve, tried to pour our wine in regular glasses and even though the place was almost empty, she was nowhere to be found when we needed her. Cute restaurant with rustic Italian decor. Found myself here for dinner and immediately noticed that they bake their own panettone and were cooling/wrapping them up in one corner of the restaurant. To start, five of us shared the arugula salad which was simple and fresh, but oddly came without dressing (which we asked for upon realizing it was dry). We also got the garlic bread. I would recommend skipping the garlic bread all together because its not very different from the complimentary bread. For mains, two of us had the chicken parm, two of us had the cannelloni di carne, and one had the gnocchi. We also shared two bottles of wine which seemed fairly priced. Overall, the food was ok but certainly pricy for what we received. The service was polite but inexperienced and inattentive. There were some mistakes with our food but nothing major and they were able to rectify. We also got a panettone to go ($25 for the medium) - yum! read more

Hidden Gem alert! Silvio's has no business being as fantastic as it is. It would be easy to discredit a restaurant attached to a grocery store, but you would be doing your tastebuds a disservice! Food: everything was probably the best version of that dish I've had in a while. Caesar salad; pricy, but could feed 2-4 people for an appetizer. The real Italian Romano cheese, coupled with what I suspect was sourdough croutons (homemade), really elevated this salad. Chicken Parm: my husband ordered this, and I thought it was better than any chain Italian restaurant version. Loved that it was not sweet like so many other marinaras. You can tell it is made in house! He appreciated the amount of chicken, but prefers large chicken breasts, instead of the smaller cutlets. Farm Fresh Burger: I know, I went to an Italian place and ordered a burger, but when I read the description of it, I swooned. It was probably the best burger I've had in years! Loved the flavor and texture. Gluten free friends, though they have GF pastas, they do not have a a GF bun, so you'll have to go bunless. The accompanying salad was equally as delicious. Just had to get the tiramisu, and there are no regrets! Silvio's is close to being as good as The Chop House tiramisu. Ambiance: pretty chill for a Tuesday evening! Nice outdoor area. Loved dining inside, did not feel like a restaurant in a grocery store at all. Wish the service could have been better, the waitress was not great at knowing the menu, and was not prepared for questions. It seems like this may be her first job though. My husband started with the garlic bread. It was a nice size piece, and was buttery and garlicky. I loved it, though it was a bit strong on the garlic for my husband. Not for the faint of heart! I decided to try the lasagna and was glad that I did! It was some of the best I've ever had. All of the layers were melty and delicious - none of that chalky ricotta here! This is a great spot! Adorable ambiance and live music along with authentic and innovative food options. While I was studying the menu, a man began playing a flute like instrument and sang beautiful Italian songs. I started with a few unity vibrations raspberry kombuchas which were fab. I then proceeded with the arrosticini which is the most tender lamb skewers. These were phenomenal and I highly recommend! For my main, I took the server's suggestion and went with the rotating pizza of the month. It was a brisket and asparagus pizza. Bomb! The brisket was the most tender that I have ever had. The cheese topping was hard to pinpoint. It was almost like a soft , omelette texture and it was the perfect base for the finely chopped asparagus. This restaurant is a hidden gem. More people need to know about it. The atmosphere is simple but appropriate. The light in the restaurant are dimmed but not overly. I hate restaurants were it is so dark, you can barely see the menu. I went to a special event there this year. The theme was "Mushrooms". Every course was mushroom based. With dinner came with wine and no glass was ever empty. I enjoyed this event and will look forward to going to another even there. Now let's talk about the specialty of the restaurant. Pizza. They use a special flour and method to make the dough and you fully appreciate what they have done. Try this place. You won't regret it. read more

Food, was only ok...it'd been best if actually brought out to our table when it was ready, instead it waited for our waiter to return to the floor under a heat lamp for ten minutes. Waiter never returned again, too busy checking out the Asian waitress' ass, had to flag down another staff member to get our bill, get a box for our cold food, and leave. First time for us here. Food was mixed. Whitefish was just ok. Spaghetti was good! Bread and olive oil were both great! But here's the rub. They have music on Friday and Saturday nights. The music was two high school boys playing a guitar and a sax. IT WAS SO LOUD YOU COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! We couldn't hear a thing anyone was saying at our table. We had the worst Mother's Day brunch yesterday. $150 for three people. There were barely any staff. Not sure where to begin... all of the food tasted bad. Pasta undercooked. Sauce tasted like it came out of a can. Sausage and bacon were extra greasy and fatty. The bacon actually tasted off, as did the pizza. No one touched the eggs - at first I thought someone had Mac and cheese, but no - that was the eggs. The salad wasnt mixed and we were at the back of the line, so by the time we got there, it was pretty much just lettuce and raw asparagus. The "carving station" was a joke. The mimosa bar didn't have any OJ and you had to make it yourself. There was no one to offer coffee. The dessert tasted like it had been sitting out for days. Being originally from NY I've been looking for authentic Italian food like I'm used to. Michigan seemed not to know what real Italian food is. I heard about Silvio's from a server from a restaurant in Saline I frequent. She was on point. The food is old school Italian. As good as Carmine' in Manhattan. I kid you not. I love a good margherita pizza, but this was definitely not the place for that. Gave it another shot and came back hoping for a better experience. Instead, we stood waiting at the host stand for someone to acknowledge us. The food here given the price you pay is underwhelming. I don't mind the portion sizes themselves but if you are going to charge what they charge it better be really good and wow me. For example, I ordered the cannelloni for $22. It's good not the best food I have eaten by far and that doesn't even include a salad or soup, I think you can add on a side salad for $4.00. I can't really say much about the ambiance, it was a Monday at 5pm so not very many people were there, plus it was before a Lions Monday night game so I wouldn't expect there to be. Quite a change from a big university campus to suburbia, but the new restaurant is more spacious with outdoor seating. I ordered the Patate Pizza. It is the potato pizza with gorgonzola cheese and rosemary. It was good but tasted a bit plain. There was also a bit of crust bubble and burn. If I order it again I will ask for additional toppings like sausage or truffle oil. My opinion hasn't changed from February 2020. I was more impressed with the food when I was a student but it is still a good place for organic Italian cuisine. read more

I don't know how anyone would rate this less than 5 stars. The restaurant has the cutest atmosphere, perfect for a casual lunch but also for a nicer date night. They seem to be very family oriented with their hiring too. The bread and olive oil is to die for, and the food was out of this world. We actually had 2 things missed in our order and didn't even notice because we were so happy with the food, until our server apologized with a complimentary dessert, which was also amazing! This is our first dining experience at Silvio's, we're really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it did not come anywhere near our expectations. We tried the gnocchi dish, which was overly soft and mushy, and only given flavor by the salt. Got take out from this place to celebrate my home bound mother's birthday. Unfortunately it was so disappointing. We paid $26 for a tiny 3"x3" piece of lasagna that was just mushy (pasta didn't hold up to being reheated by the restaurant). Other dish had black spots in the pasta but I don't think it was pepper. Definitely won't be back. I'm very sad that we had this horrible (and expensive) meal for a celebration dinner :( read more

Easily the best, AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant around! This place is truly a hidden gem. The restaurant is on the side of Busch's Grocery Store and it's a 10/10 experience every time. Handmade pastas, high quality ingredients, and genuine Italian food. We always start with the Arugula Salad, and it's big enough to share with 3 people. The prosciutto, the Romano cheese, and balsamic are so perfect together, simple ingredients but so harmonious together. My boyfriend raves about the prosciutto quality it tastes very fresh and quality. The pastas are all handmade, we ordered the carbonara, the gemeli pesto pasta, the chicken Alfredo, and the owner Silvio was sweet enough to make a Cacio E Pepe even though it wasn't on the menu. All of the pastas we tried were incredible! This is the type of food where you don't feel terrible after eating because it's not processed fake food. We also came back to try their margherita pizza and I remembered that I forgot to write a review so I'll add that to this one... OH MY GOSH! Not to be dramatic but that was the best pizza I've had in a long time. It's Neapolitan style, so it's like a thin doughy consistency and everything tastes fresh, the tomato sauce the basil the mozzarella it's amazing. The service is ridiculously good every-time that I feel guilty that I didn't write this review sooner! I have found at the best Italian food comes from these Mom and Pop locations where the family lovingly creates old family recipes and offers these dishes proudly to their community. The national chains continuously fall short mainly because their choices are made by a corporate board and not by a family's favorite recipes. Silvio's Trattoria e Pizzeria is one of those restaurants that faithfully serve their community consistently good food in a warm and friendly environment. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything that you order here. The pizza is good, as are there more traditional Italian main course dishes. The next time that your family is craving you good Italian food, I would recommend driving right past Olive Garden, Carrabba's and all the other places and heading this way. Silvio's was practically an Ann Arbor landmark when I was in college. Wasn't too impressed with them back then, but now that they've followed me out to Canton, I decided to give them another try. So glad I did! We've both gotten take out and dined in over recent months, and it's become our go-to Italian restaurant. The food is made with care and curiosity (they have some really unique dishes like the blueberry pizza here as well as more traditional fare), and the service is the best I've had in a while. Favorites here include the truffle fries, meatballs, margherita pizza, and omg the arrosticini, which are little lamb skewers that they grill outside and come highly recommended if you are a meat-eater. Phil took amazingly good care of us when we dined in, too. Really bumped up the experience to a full five stars. read more

I've eaten here a few times after shopping at Busch's grocery store since it's adjacent to the store. It's solid and the drinks are delicious. The server I always seem to get (Phil) is the friendliest guy ever and he does a really great job of being attentive but not overbearing. He makes this place special. Horrible service and terrible management. Second visit with mass disorganization of staff. It did not appear that there was a shortage of front of the house staff. It was that they were all stepping on each others toes and far from friendly or hospitable. The wait for food is unacceptable particularly when despite self righteousness of management (see next comment) the food is not up to par. This is a family run business which I respect. Apparently the owners daughter is the "manager". Don't even think about bringing a concern to her attention. You will be met with excuses, denial, unprofessional behavior and outright disrespect. I come here for the pizza, which has always been fantastic. However the past few times it seems like it is very understaffed. Most of the time, the waiters apologize but most recently a particular waiter (son in law of Silvio) was rude and it took over an hour to get our food. An Italian American classic, Silvio, Phil, and Fran have it spot on. If you're looking for something more traditional, the gnocchi and more than a few pizzas offer something authentically Italian.
