I have been going to Palm Beach Tan for over 4yrs. Always have recommended them to all my friends, recently I went to go tan and was told I owe a balance of x amount of money before I could tan. I let the associate know that I was moved to a different promotion and was told I didn't have to pay to the following month. Well I was charged anyway (I let them know on the day (Feb 28th) when I signed up for new promotion that my debt card was being replaced and it would take 5-7 business days before I could update it) Didn't think much cause my understanding was my payment wouldn't be due till April 1st. Well I was wrong. I called to let them know the situation and explained myself just to be told it was a misunderstanding and they could only waive $10. I called back and spoke with Layna, explained the situation again, she totally understood and tried everything in her power to see if they would waive the cost. She was so sweet and polite and mostly professional and because of her they are implementing that the associate explain the new promotions correctly so this doesn't happen again. I truly wanted to cancel my membership but after speaking with Layna I have decided to give them another chance. Thank you so much Layna for all your help! Saw a "try any service FREE!" promotion online and decided to go get a spray tan. I'm 9 months pregnant and don't want to do my at home tanning routine, but still wanted a little glow to boost my mood! Unfortunately I left without any service received because of the amount of upselling that happens as soon as you walk in the door. One gal was training and very nice but the girl training her told me my spray tan will wash right off if I don't do any of the add-ons. So the "free service" is actually $40+ once they include primer, color stay, undertones, etc. and made me feel like I was wasting my time if I just got the spray tan I came in for. I just moved around the corner and was wanting to try the basic spray tan before purchasing a membership but instead they lost a potential customer. Probably the pregnancy hormones, but I went to my car and cried afterwards- so I wouldn't suggest this location to anybody looking for kind service or a confidence boost! read more

This place is so ridiculous! I made it clear I e been tanning elsewhere before joining. They still restricted my time on diamond bed. I followed their rules and went for 5 min. My by went for 2 min!! however I can go 12 min on one bed lower with 2 min extra face lamps at other locations but they still will only allow me to add 2 min to diamonds bed. Whoohoo! 7 min for a product I paid a lot for and signed disclosures. The management have literally made their associates useless because they're too afraid of "getting into trouble". Horrible! This place is clean, friendly and gives me what I need. I recently began tanning and the girls were very helpful with getting me started. They recommended some products, which are pricey, but help nourish your skin and help your tan last. This is true for any type of face, skin, hair products etc. You need to take good care of your skin, especially if you're exposing it to more UV than usual. You don't NEED to, but you should. Some of the other reviewers mentioned the girls were pushy. The girls are trained to help sell product that helps and benefits you as well as the company. I could see how a few people may see that as pushy, but these girls are the professionals here. If a bed seems to have a worn pad or something not working, you should definitely let the manager know. These things happen over time, with any company and it's equipment. It doesn't mean the place is terrible altogether. Also, this is a company that leans on contracts. That could become a problem and mistakes happen. Definitely read through your contract and keep an eye out for mishaps. It's never fun when we get overcharged or are told the wrong information. There's ways to prevent and or handle that too. There's no such thing as perfect, and I'd rather be here and use their services than not. Everyone makes mistakes. The employees at Pacific Beach Tan know all there is to know about getting the safest base tan before your trip. I never got red or even pink, which is amazing, considering my skin tone. I signed up for a membership Nov. 2017 for my wedding. Later that month, I went in to cancel my membership. The guy at the counter told me that I could freeze my account for free ( FYI, it's not free). He assured me I would not get charged for the freezing of the account. In December, I checked my credit card and there was no charge. Come to find out now in July 2018, they have been charging me since January!!! Talk about shady. They now say I never froze my account, even though I was frozen in December which is why I had no charge. read more

I moved to the area recently and am so happy there's a palm beach so close to me. The staff here are wonderful! Especially Leah! All the girls take the time to walk you through anything and everything you want to know. They're so friendly and they take care of business! Sometimes the salon gets so busy towards the end of the day and it would stress me out to get through the line, but the girls stay calm and collected and help everyone with the same level of attentiveness and professionalism without skipping any corners. Whatever you do, don't let them put you in bed #1. They told me oh it just doesn't have aromatherapy and one of the fans doesn't work... They failed to mention that it also turns off and on while you're tanning and when it is on, you feel like you're being scalded by it. I almost canceled my membership as no one ever took the time to explain how to get a spray tan without looking like a orange spotted" blotches from head to toe , stains on my clothes " dry skin mess. Horrible experience. Breanna didn't know anything and quoted like 6 different prices for the same thing. When I came in I told it was my first time and asked if she can turn off the face tanner in the bed and she said she doesn't "think" it does that and said I can put a towel on my face. I told her a towel doesn't protect it from the rays and she agreed and says she also tells everyone that. (?) After getting A tan in the tanning bed, I was supposed to get a spray tan so I come back out into the main area and she said she can't find my account even though she just made me my account 10 minutes prior. I had already signed and given her my card about 3 times. She didn't remember my name and I had to say it and spell it about four times throughout my experience. There was a line of people behind me and everybody was just frustrated. She said she couldn't tan me because she couldn't find my account and I asked for a refund and she said she couldn't give me a refund. I asked for the managers phone number so I can call tomorrow and she said she can't give out personal information like that. What kind of business is this? read more

After years of not tanning, coming into the palm beach off Stuki rd, the girls there were very friendly and helpful. Love when they have their specials for upgrades. So worth doing! I've been tanning here for awhile, and with every experience comes both good and bad. Overall average location but I have definitely visited better. **For the record I am relatively pale and come in every so often for a medium or dark spray with island bronzer. It stays for about 7 days before spotting and I have to scrub it off. Nothing against the physical tanning machines here but some of the staff could definitely use some work.** I recently started my spray membership for $39.95 a month, plus a start up fee of $20.00 for a grand total of $59.95 at my last visit. A little spendy but worth it; unlimited sprays for $60 a month. Manager Hailey is VERY helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. However, staff member Macarthy is the opposite. Today I came in and waited about 30-35 minutes to get a single spray. I checked in and was told 3 young girls were ahead of me for the mystic booth. Fine. However, the entire time I waited the girls were giggling and screaming, not starting the machine and just sitting around in the room. Their mother, quietly reading magazines and didn't care to look up or acknowledge people were waiting. Macarthy managed to say and do absolutely nothing. No "sorry for the wait!" "Let me know if i can get you anything!" "how is your day?" nothing. Incredibly rude and 0 customer service whatsoever. After about 30 minutes of waiting, it was finally my turn. I am now at the front desk and again, no apology from Macarthy. I asked to get a medium spray with sun kyss bronzer, which I was told before purchasing my membership at my previous visit that light and medium sprays with sun kyss are completely free and INCLUDED in the membership. After staring at the computer and avoiding eye contact, Macarthy at this point is completely POSITIVE that the sun kyss bronzer additive was going to be $3.20. I repeatedly told her that Manager Hailey assured me I didn't have to pay for the bronzer last time.......... or else that would be false advertising! If I was working, after the 30 min wait regardless if the bronzer was free or $3.00, I would've given it out for free because that wait and lack of customer service was pitiful. I was told I could wait for manager Hailey to show up or pay the $3.20. Of course, I waited. I didn't have any money on me and hey, this is NOT about the 3 bucks it's about the lack of friendliness I was addressed with. In the end Hailey saved the day and I got my tan for free like it should've been. Macarthy should probably have a little more work with the computer and review the membership perks. read more

Everyone was helpful and friendly. I went during a sale before Spring Break and they were not pushy in any way. Made sure I was in the right beds and getting the right amount of time to maximize my results without burning. I wanted a tanning lotion but they helped me find an inexpensive one rather than trying to upsale me. They can get very busy but they still make sure the rooms and beds are very clean. read more

My experience at Pacific Beach Tan has been "AWESOME" !! All of the employees have been very helpful, cringed thoughtful when it comes to their clients. They treat you with respect and they listen to what your tanning needs are and are very knowledgeable about their tanning beds and products. Worst place ever, this business is dreaming if they think that anybody would use this horrible place when there are so many other tanning spots around. You cannot come in for a simple service without them trying to force you into memberships which don't make sense and are designed to be as hard as possible to cancel. They will also force you to buy their products which are insanely over priced. They will also add on mysterious fees. The staff are incredibly pushy over sales (I don't know if this is management pressure- but it is to an embarrassing level for them), I actually walked out of here it was so bad. I am not happy with this place. No, not at all, my friends. Pull up a chair. I discovered Pacific Beach Tan while jogging home from the gym one day. I almost ran smack into a sign advertising a free tan that they had placed on the sidewalk outside their salon. I had been really wanting to visit a tanning salon due to the lack of sun in Portland, and I thought the whole "free tan" thing was just what the doctor ordered. When I entered the salon a few days later, I was greeted by a girl whose skin color has not as of yet been recognized in Webster's Dictionary. There are seriously no words to describe what I saw. It looked like someone had painted the surface of her body with a thick layer of orange paint mixed with peanut butter. It was not attractive and looked extremely artificial. I am not oblivious to the "fake-tan look," but, I'm telling you, this was different. She looked like a cartoon. I'm only telling you this because I'm trying to set the stage for you to see her as an unattractive, fake villian. Picture her with horns also, please. Miss Peanut butter and I discussed my skin type and which bed I would like to be placed in. I told her that I had come in because of the free tan, and she acknowledged, or I though she did. She asked me if I had brought in my goggles, and I said I didn't have any as every salon I'd ever been to provided them free of charge. She informed me that it would be $3.00 for a pair of goggles, so I took out the credit card. When I signed the c/c slip, I noticed that I was being charged $18.00, so I asked her what was up. She said that the one tan was $15.00, and then the goggles were $3.00. I reminded her of the free tan, and she said that it was only offered when you bought a package of several tans. I was pretty irked about this, as I could have tanned at my gym for $6.00. Strike one for Pacific Beach. So, being the pushover I am, I didn't complain and went over to my stand-up tanning bed. I disrobed and pushed the button for the lights to turn on. I was just starting to get into a love ballad by J. Lo and Marc Anthony when the lights shut off. It was seriously no longer than a minute. I tried to push the button again. Nothing. So I got dressed and walked to the front, where nobody stood. I walked around the salon. Nobody. Hmmmm. I opened the front door to sound the little ringer, and Miss P.B. came out of her Jiffy jar to the front. I informed her of what happened, and she told me to push the button again. I told her I did that, and she acted annoyed and told me that I must have not pushed the right button. I assured her, but she told me to just do it again. Strike two. So I went back to the bed, disrobed again, and pushed the button. Over and over. Nothing. By this time I was pretty frustrated. I dressed again, went to the front, and told her again that the bed wasn't functioning. She said matter-of-factly that I would just have to come back the next day, then, because it was against state law to tan twice in one day. I told her that I had only received one minute of exposure, but she said it didn't matter and that I would have to come back the next day and that by then the bed would be fixed. I told her that I wanted to be in another bed and I wanted to tan right then, but she reiterated that it was against state law and that she wouldn't put me in another bed. Strike three. To her credit, she told me that the computer prevented her from doing it, which I guess could be true but sounds weird to me. She also said that I could use any bed I wanted the next day, even the $45.00 one. That was nice, but I was still pretty mad about the situation, and when I got home I told my husband about it. He was pretty upset himself because of the $18 tanning price, and he suggested that I get a refund. I'm not one to do that sort of thing usually. Actually, I really struggle with being assertive and usually will still eat my food even if it does have a hair in it just so I don't have to raise a stink. But I figured this was a good time to work on standing up for myself, so I drove back over there and asked for my refund. I was informed about a no-refund policy. I refuted and told her that I would like her to put the money back on my card. She told me that the computer wouldn't let her. She was very nice about it, which kinda made me even more annoyed, if you know what I mean. She sounded like she could be the voice on an automated line for a bank. So I left defeated, white, and $18 poorer for no good reason. I will curse this salon until all the peanut butter in all the world returns to it's rightful place- on faces of elementary school kids in cafeterias around the country. Not on the body of a android. I am not normally one to venture into a tanning salon, but I was going on vacation and wanted to have a base tan so I would not suffer too bad of a burn where I was going. Regardless, the place was a mad house full of orange girls, standing in line, almost all of them wearing skimpy pajamas, as if they'd all escaped a lazy day of sleep to add to their layers of orange. I was so out of place here. Before getting to actually use a bed, I was force-fed a sales pitch on a billion different facial and body tan notions, that were all highly recommended for any kind of decent tanning experience. I wisely declined, only to find out later that all of those same notions were half the price on Amazon. After a month, I decided that I would no longer need my minimal membership and I decided to cancel. It gone done okay, but the orange NSYNC fart-bag behind the counter treated me like some sort of lower life form because I no longer wanted to tan. The attitude was almost hilarious coming from this ass hat. But I tried it and its simply wasn't for me. I cannot understand why anyone would want that fake tan look anyhow. Not in Portland. I think the beds are nice and clean. But my two stars are for the employees specifically at this location. Most of them get a attitude with the customers. They are gossiping about customers or there personal life right in front of you. I had to change card numbers cause my debit card got stolen and they were so rude about it and asked a 15 dollar fee to change cards for me to sign up again? I really love this place! I came in with a friend who has worked at a few tanning salons so knows what to ask/look for, and we went for the platinum bed, which is the most amazing tanning bed ever! They have a really good membership price which my friend signed up for after reading the contract through very carefully and approving of it. I just got a month since I am just visiting Portland, so it was like $112 after tan tax(eek right? My friend's was like $65 or something, definitely get the membership if you can, it's really easy to cancel as well!) but anyway, my month was still totally worth it because the platinum bed is so awesome! read more

Their prices were extremely too high for JUST tanning and not to mention the bed they put me in had a big sweat puddle. it obviously wasnt clean. And when I told the girl, she was upset more at me than the fact that they didnt clean the bed. Blonde haired girl was super rude. After she noticed i sampled a lotion i could tell she was trying to sell me one so i let her know i purchased one outside of the location. She told me i was wasting a collective "our" time by using a lotion without illuminizer (which she didnt check mine. She wouldnt know if there is illuminizer) and to let her know when i was ready to purchase a real lotion. Seemed like she was trying to impress her new trainee. I wasn't impressed. read more

Had a good experience this time, as a customer for over 5 years, I don't like the high pressure sales that some of the girls try and push on me. Malory was personable and offered great customer service. She made sure the room was stocked with towels and the floor of the Mystic was wiped dry before I went in. I can't rate the Tan as never got that far. I will however explain my experience and rate my initial experience. Called ahead and stated i had a card for free tan to try out the place. Came in and wanted to use the ladies room before getting set up. Was asked if i was a customer. (I thought i was going to be).Came in and presented the card and thus began the barrage of questions. Who gave it to me; name etc. The back of the card had the name on it. They could not locate the name in their system so refused the free tan card even thou they have a stack of them at the register. Apparently i needed to be recommended. Well, instead of asking me any additional wants or needs that was the end of the conversation. Before i came in i had researched their costs and deals and was going to sign up. But due to poor services and the way i was treated. This will not be the case. Over Priced Nit Whits I generally enjoy tanning always have. It is nice to go to a salon and have your 15- 30 min of free time to spend alone and feel warm and relaxed.... However thins place seems to be over priced, but i nee the sun since I am from San Diego. so I pay anyways.. After a while I discover there is a salon by my work while grabbing lunch on day. So I run in and tell the girl i only have a few minutes can i just tan.. She says ok dismisses her visitor and sets me up to tan.. When i come out of the room she is ready to pounce.. Pulls me aside to tell me she doesn't understand why i paid a certain amount for only a short duration of tanning she can get me tanning longer.. while she is chattering as fast as she can and pointing at a sheet of paper.... She tells me 150.00 more to get 9 months more tanning ... i tell her i am moving and won't use it and I have to go.. she pushes more and more Then says well if you do it today i will only charge you $75 dollars.... well i pay at least 80 a month to tan there.. so this sounds ok.. I hand here over my credit card and she does the transaction. Then she has me sign my life away.. after sign i look up and say ok wait what did i sign.. it has 6 payments on there... She starts to go in to her spill again.. i tell her NO that is NOT what you just told me and she persist and persist.. She tells me there is no refund and I can sale it on Craigslist for how ever much I want.... So I try and try from the other locations to get my money back she did not convert my package she added a package.. and it does no start till after Mid December.. The corporate finally returns my call and tells me that is not what happened because they watched the video and listen to the recording.. I tell them they are full of shit and if they did they would here me tell her I am moving in January and i do not want this.. they say well they will look again.. now its 300 at 45 a month on my credit card... so why do they think i am so stupid I can just put three hundred dollars on my card.. This is there plan if they trick you once than they trick you twice oh sign this.. and you are already in a hurry that is the key word to get them going.. then they have contract and refuse your refund because they say they are charging you one thing get you to sign in a hurry and charge you another... I am going to tell every body.. every body that they are rotten and i told them i will tell everyone.. so now this is just the beginning..
