I am a local of 24 years. I paid for a membership in 2024, prior to going on vacation. The staff wasn't very professional at that time. Since, Palm Beach Tan has Emily as the Manager, and Jordon, as the Assistant Manager. These two ladies need an acknowledgment for there, fun, professional, and customer service skills there share with every customer that visits that location. They are very knowledgeable about the products, sensitivity to personal needs involving tanning, spray tanning and especially the products that are represented in the salon. PBT is a clean, consistent, and well run place to tan. I've been coming to this location for about two years and have always had a great experience. The staff is super friendly and even knows many of their customers by name, which makes it feel very welcoming. I've only used the spray tan machine, but the sun beds always look new, well-maintained, and very sanitary. The sunless spray includes helpful items like a hairnet, nose plug, alcohol wipe, lip protectant, booties, barrier cream, and a towel (with any extra of these items available upon request). When I came to this place in San Clemente, I only wanted to tan for the last 2 weeks of the month and would be leaving the following month and then returning the month after to continue tanning. They explained they only do month to month service and I agreed to pay for the month. What they didn't tell me at the time is that according to their policy for some reason or another new members can't freeze their accounts on their 2nd month. a few days before I was set to leave, I went in and asked if they would freeze my account for the following month (a different person than when I signed up). That's when she let me know I couldn't freeze my account and I would have to pay for the following month also even though I wouldn't be using their services that month. So obviously I was upset by the fact that they locked me into paying for 6 weeks worth of tans knowing I would only tan for 2 weeks. I asked if I could speak to someone about it. She called her manager, and her manager wouldn't talk to me over the phone so that I could explain my situation. The worker "felt bad" for me and told me I should just stop the payment order through the bank. I just couldn't believe a company was willing to scam someone out of a month payment... The reality is, the tans worked, the place was clean, the employees up until that point were nice and helpful. For a place that is about making money from monthly payments, they didn't care about the future money they would make from me. Only what they would get that month. I am plus-sized and was self-conscious about going to get a tan. The staff and management at this location is so welcoming and helpful! Don't be intimidated if you are wanting to try this place out! I got a membership and it has been such a nice experience coming here. I've gone to other locations of PBT, since the membership can be used anywhere, and was treated poorly and the staff obviously didn't want to help me and was hoping I would leave, but this location is completely the opposite of that. I'm glad this location is near my home but it's worth the drive if you don't live close by! Also, their beds are clean and the rooms are nice and I never feel rushed. read more

By far the best tanning salon I have ever been to! This review is for Emily though because her customer service was 20/10! She was there by herself & a good amount of guests came in but she handled everything perfectly. Everyone was taken care of fast & we were all understanding that one employee had to satisfy everyone in a timely manner. Emily was sweet, knowledgeable about everything & made sure safety was the number one thing. This was the cleanest, most sanitary tanning salon I've ever been to. Also the nicest beds I have ever seen. They are all brand new, with crazy features I've never seen. I will def be back! I wish you guys had a place in San Diego!!!! Called about membership pricing. The girl who answered the phone said that if I came into the store I would be able to get a better idea of the memberships. It's 1:45 pm and they close at 2pm. I kindly said I'm just calling around to get a range of pricing. She then was rude and said well our pricing ranges from 14.99 to 129.99. I said okay well that's a big difference in pricing, so could you give me an idea of what the in between pricing of those prices would be. She then snapped and said well it would just be easier for you to come in so I could explain the pricing of our memberships. I asked how many memberships there were and all I'm trying to do is figure out what the prices of the memberships are. She then rushed and said 4 different prices and I just found it very rude and customer service was awful. I would never want to do be a member anywhere with employees with this kind of attitude and lack of knowledge of such a simple question and worried me if there was an issue with billing or anything bigger than a simple question it would just be horrible. The vibe was just bad and I would never recommend anyone using this salon based off of customer service. read more

Palm Beach tanning does not replace the bulbs when the beds are in need. Their maintenance is terrible. NOW, you also have to buy your own eye wear, they no longer provide them. ALSO you can only tan every 24 hours. All other tanning places are once a day. read more

As far as the customer service goes, it give them 0 stars because I tried to contact by going to the location, emailing and calling them to cancel my membership and get a refund for being overcharged and canceling before the 30 days with no response or call back. I come here solely because Holly is one of my favorite people ever. She knows how to handle a busy salon and has excellent customer service. This salon is clean and the beds are nice. I can't believe my first review is going to be negative, but I feel compelled to let management know what is happening in the salon. I visited the salon not as a tanner, but accompanying my friend. My friend shared several stories of her visits, so I had to see it for myself. I would like to add that the salon is clean and the front girls are great. The issue is with the female manager. She must be unhappy with her life, because it shows! She had a horrible look on her face, wasn't friendly and spoke to her staff like they were trash. I couldn't tell if she was sick or under the influence - either way it was bad. I'm writing this because my friend doesn't wan to ruin her relationship there and was afraid to post anything. Based on the previous reviews, I know management sees these and I HOPE something is done with this manager - its BAD! read more

If I could do 0 i would, horrible experience... Came in today 4/1 at 2:00 waited 30 min to get to the counter, only 1 person in front of me and then by that time 6 other people waiting. The girl working does not understand customer service/ experience or listen to what you are wanting. Haven't tanned in a while and wanted to come in, do a stand up that's going to give the fastest results. She was putting me in a basic level 1, charged me which seemed cheep for what I was asking, frustrated and wanted to just leave at this point. Asked for a refund, she said she couldn't do that and at this point I was just over it and left. Going to go somewhere else!! I used to go to a small boutique tanning salon and was never happy with my spray tans. Palm beach spray tans always come out super even and natural looking! the girls who work here are always super nice, especially holly. Got married on April 10th in a strapless dress. Thanks to covid and the shut down I had more time to walk outside this gave me some very interesting tan lines. After looking up the reviews and the monthly options i choose palm beach to help even out my tan line. I love the hep they gave for the tanning and I personally didn't try the spray tanning( can't stand the smell) but my mom and sister in law did. It was first time for both. Neither of them were huge much instruction and both came out with some funky tans. From not having the hair cap far enough back to stand at the wrong angle and having a much to dark tan on one side and very light tan on the other arm. My only recommendation is research spray tanning know how to get it done and ask the employees questions... read more

Palm Beach town is one of those companies that instead of a customer service policy. They have a customer punishment policy. If you have to take a break from the expensive monthly membership, they punish you when you return by automatically cutting your tan time in half no matter how tan or light your skin is. And as a special welcome back gesture they make you pay $50 to tan for 7 minutes. We literally live in the Upside Down. Companies like these tell you by their policies what they value and it's NOT YOU. Steer clear if you want to be treated fairly and like an adult. read more

I definitely do not recommend coming in especially if you are not white. Racism shows and how I was treated. Walked in wanting to get more information and was not greeted what so ever. 3 girls were working at the time I came in. None of them had name tags on either so I can't even mention their names. The girl at the front desk was very nice and you can tell she is passionate about her job. She will try her best to up-sell you and her you to sign up for the membership. I probably would have however, I read on the reviews that cancelling is nightmare. The facility is clean and has the latest equipment but the pricing is outrageous. $50 for the "diamond" bed. The lotions they carry are even worst. Overly priced and do not carry one time use packets!! read more

I joined for a month in March to get a base tan so I didn't get fried on a two week vacation to the tropics I had set for April. On March 25th I went in to cancel my membership as planned and as noted on my contract. The girl working said I was all set; I either didn't get a receipt because I thought it would be emailed like most receipts or I got one and threw it away. I don't remember because the girl working the desk told me I was all set. Then I went on vacation and forgot all about It. Early June I find they are still charging me $89/month so I call the manager Alex who tells me unless I have that receipt, there's nothing she can do for me. There are SO many options if you need a tan around here, my advice is go somewhere else where customer satisfaction is important. Just wanted to update my review. After writing the review above, the manager messaged me and asked me to call. I did, and instead of refunding the charges they mistakenly made, she offered me an extended membership. Why would I go back there? I did exactly what I was supposed to do to cancel my membership, your sales associate made an error because she was new and the manager didn't correct the mistake. If customer service is important to you, go elsewhere. read more

I have had a membership a couple of times. I tried to cancel for this new month but I had to do it by Christmas which was a tough day to get there. I went in on the 3rd to get this cancelled and get a refund for at least this new month but the girl at the counter refused. She wouldn't even let me speak! She just kept talking and talking.. She can see from the history I haven't used this membership in awhile which is my fault but to not allow me to get this new month refunded is absurd! I guess their one more time getting $30 from me is worth more than having me ever be a member again in the future. Too bad because I was the ultimate member. I did not have a good experience with Skylar. I called in to ask with details about my account and she said she would follow up and never called back. When I stopped by the location in person at a later time, she gave different and varying information and acted like asking questions was an inconvenience. She said she was only approved for a limited amount of credits, but when I asked about that in more detail, she said she would have to ask her manager for an approval of any type and get back to me. When I asked to speak with someone who was her supervisor or someone who could help, she said she is not allowed to provide any additional contact information. Skylar never followed up in any way. Another employee provided a general Palm Beach tan contact phone number. When I again never heard back from Skylar, I called that number. The employee on the phone why returned my call (I believe Brentley from West Hollywood area) way extremely helpful and was able to answer my questions right away and did an amazing job! Because of his helpful feedback I decided to stay with Palm Beach tan and was grateful for the time he took to answer all questions and his great customer service! As a customer, I felt Skylar really dismissed and treated like an inconvenience and never got back or followed up in any way. This is definitely the exception regarding my experience with Palm Beach Tan staff over the years and otherwise have positive things to say. read more
