They charge a high price per hour for airplanes and instruction, for which we should expect better equipment and more professionalism. I flew nearly 100 hours with this school and didn't get my license before giving up on them. Many schools claim that good students can do it in 50 hours, 60-80 seems average, and not finishing by 100 hours is rare; a good student should finish in half the time for a third the price. If you live near Palm Springs and want to learn how to fly, you owe it to yourself to shop around for other schools. Although this may be the only flight school in the valley, there are many others to choose from on the west side of the Banning pass, especially in Riverside.

That's exactly the kind of instruction a student needs when learning the skill of flying an airplane, you need to feel safe making mistakes,so that you can progress from not knowing how to land to landing safely, landing well, landing consistently well and then doing it in a cross wind! I now have over 20 hours, I can land safely, I enjoy cross wind landings, and will be soloing soon. Flying is the best part of my week. I am very happy with this school. They have far exceeded my expectations.

There are some great line techs still there, but the management team sucks. If you can't fix it you have to live with it. This is business as usual with this manager and her staff. They 'll throw you under the bus than back up and run you over again. And Joe if you felt offended , because my tone on the radio when I said , "we were too busy and you would have to wait on the low lead truck". I'm sorry but with my supervisor and I working the ramp alone and airplanes coming and going and Donna had to come out to help. It was very stressful.

The amenities are nice and welcoming to everyone. Every Wednesday there's a free ground class everyone can attend and bring friends to. The airport itself is located perfectly where maneuvers can be done right after take-off, no need to travel far away to do them. The air traffic controllers are extra supportive to student pilots and do an amazing job. The planes are well kept and maintained and the prices are unbeatable. Above all, my instructor David Stringfellow is an awesome guy and super knowledgeable as a CFI. I'd love to keep this place a secret but if you are interested in flight training there's no where else better than Ramona FTC. Only regret I have is not knowing about this place when I started my journey.

That being said, these guys were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and absolute pros at what they do. At no point did I feel unsafe or scared. And it was very exciting, they did low flybys near houses, ponds and golf courses, as well as reaching 2,000 ft altitude. Not just a lift off and fly straight to your landing zone. It was a surreal, euphoric experience and do NOT hesitate in booking this experience. Worth every penny. Looking forward to coming back next year.

I wanted to do something exciting with my husband. We've done sky diving twice in the past and…read moreafter doing some skimming, came across gliding. I was familiar with the Torrey Pines Gliderport but didn't know that Warner Springs had an area for sailplanes/gliders. A glider is a fixed-wing aircraft that is supported in flight by the dynamic reaction of the air against its lifting surfaces, and whose free flight does not depend on an engine. Normally a sailplane relies on rising air to maintain altitude. So we made a date out of it. We booked our flight at 10AM on Saturday, September 16th. On the drive there, we were a bit apprehensive as the mountains were cloudy and it was somewhat drizzling, but after exiting and we reached Warner Springs it was bright and sunny. As we were parking, we saw a view of several sailplanes/gliders. Walking inside, we were immediately welcomed by one of their staff - Piper. Piper was a big dark brown golden retriever with flashes of golden, SUPER friendly, and immediately went on her tummy for rubs. The interior was decorated with cloths with notations of those completed their first flight of flying. There was an area for kids to play in, some bar stools around, and a seating area right next to the bathroom. They also had a cat strolling around, doing its own thing. The bathroom had a wall of interesting tidbits, so be careful if you go in! You may be in there for a while reading them. We got checked in and the kind lady (possibly Donna?) working the desk let us know that Garret will be with us in a few minutes as he was finishing up another flight. We saw a few people fly their first plane out or were taking lessons. While we were waiting, Piper kept us company with asks for pats. When it was our turn, the lady gave us a camera for Garret/his colleague (whose name I forgot) to hook on to the plane, and we walked on out to go on our 30 minute flight. For our reservation purchase, it is for the ride and also for an SD card for the memory of the flight. If you were flying just on your own, you get the opportunity of flying the sailplane under the supervision of the pilot in the front. Since there was two of us, they had to take the controls out from the back. Our pilot, Garret, helped us get into our seating space, and buckled us in, as well as giving us instructions on where we can get air during the ride. We were a cozy squeeze in the back, while Garret was in the front. His colleague helped to ensure we were towed by a plane ahead. It was an amazing view, and a bit surreal to have flown up. Garret and my husband conversed, and he asked a lot of questions. We had minor turbulence. My husband got to disconnect us from the other plane and we were gliding in the air. I did end up bringing a gift to the ground, as I had just a banana for breakfast - which was probably too acidic for the ride. Garret also checked that I was comfortable before he brought us on a fast loop dive (which I've only seen in movies), it was something else to actually experience it. We had the opportunity of flying with Garret Willat. Garret represented the US Open Class team in 2008 and 2010 and the Club Class team in 2014. And he has won 3 US National Championships. I would recommend that if you're looking to do, and you're not afraid of heights/rides, check out Sky Sailing. And for food, check out Jeremy's on a Hill! They have a reservation system and I would suggest that you get food if you had nothing left in your body if you also bought back a gift. Or just Julian after, super close!
