I am trying to support local businesses, but this is an ongoing saga. Dropped off laptop 9/16/24 to repair a screen. Received a text with ticket # & repair estimate - replied ok to proceed. No response. Called 10/8/24 for status update - had to leave a message - no response. Called 10/21/24 - called a few times to reach a human. Told the screen was ordered (ordered 2) - but arrived broken and/or wrong screen. Told the screen would be reordered and repaired. Would take a couple weeks. Called today - 12/04/24 - told the screen had NOT been ordered and no work done on laptop. NOW the screen will be ordered and maybe arrive 12/12/24 - and THEN repairs will be done (fingers crossed). This is 3 MONTHS with ZERO communication apart from initial text. Only updates are when I call and wait to talk to a human - but still not completed. We will see what "maybe I can get a discount on labor" means. I'm not optimistic. read more

I asked them to diagnose my Macbook Air (they knew, I knew, and we all knew it was the battery) but I accepted it because they said it could be the motherboard or the battery, so I wanted to be sure. The first guy, Matthew told me it would be done by that same day or the day after, and that they would contact me. I appreciated this because even if they couldn't repair it the same day of the diagnosis I could still use it for work that week. It was not done the same day, which is fine, but by the time they were closing on the next day it was still not done and they had not contacted me or updated me like they said they would. The same guy told me that it would be done by the next day by Midday and that they would contact me. They had told me that their phones had been acting up and I didn't believe them but I wanted my diagnosis done by this point. The next day, Midday passes, and nothing. I wait until 5 pm to give grace and go to the store. Another way sweeter guy said that the first guy had worked on it and had not left a written diagnosis but a word of mouth, and left in a hurry so my computer was still dismantled in the back. Surprise! It was the battery, who would have thunk. I knew that the cost of labor to replace it would be pricey but holy crap it was too much. So I asked if I could buy the battery they had in the store. I should have known that the used battery may have been faulty. I replaced it myself and also noticed that two screws were missing! I am pissed and very sad that I wasted money on a diagnosis that almost made me go to work with no laptop and a battery that ended up not working even a little bit better than the one I had before. Screw the first guy. Didn't even let me talk when he was attending me. The second guy was very sweet, gave me a discount on the battery bc he felt bad, and gave me instructions on how to prepare my laptop before replacing the battery. I want to believe he didn't know about the faulty battery. Overall, a very stressful experience, and I still have a laptop with a faulty battery. read more

Says they fix tablets, but they only mean iPad types. They broke my Wacom art tablet open by force and had to glue it back together with jagged bumps. On top of that they didn't fix it, but still charged and took months. read more

Great experience here. I was having a lot of trouble charging my iPhone. I thought that I might need to have the jack replaced. Their website quoted a cost for this repair and it was competitive related to similar businesses that do this repair. I brought it in there on a Saturday afternoon thinking that I might have to come back for it. However they took it to the back and looked at it and determined that they charging port just needed a really good clean out. They did it for me and did not charge. Folks in here were super nice too. They have it set up so that it is only reasonable for 1 person to be in the lobby at a time for social distancing, but it is not a busy place generally anyhow. I brought a laptop that connects verrrry slowly to the internet to this place due to its good reviews. Paid $50 for a diagnostic and was told there is nothing wrong with the laptop... just that we must have slow internet. I needed help in getting my computer in order and they recommended their virus removal/ransomware service. This was the first time I needed computer service in my current area. They quoted me $230. I asked why so much? The tech person responded something like: "I guess it is a matter of knowing how to do it." Months later my son got into my computer and clicked on a link that downloaded a virus. I shopped around and found Ifixit (or similar) a couple of miles away. There are several in the UCF/east Orlando area. They charged me $75 for the same service. I guess I was taken for a ride. My pc stoped working and I was pretty sure that it was my mother board was fried so I took it here to just be sure that it was the motherboard that wasn't working and not something else, it was $50 for them to reinsure that it was my motherboard and it took them at least a week, after getting it back I order a new motherboard and it still doesn't work, the graphics card was the real problem, it would have been 2 seconds to check if the graphics card was the problem but it took them two weeks and they didn't even do that. Replacement Battery: I must say that everything went right to plan. They ordered the battery the day I picked up her notebook and I was given a status update the other day letting me know the battery was on its way. Today the battery arrived and I received a call letting me know to just stop by so they could install it. I ran by the house and picked up my wife's computer and it only took them about 10 minutes to have me ready to go. So far MY experiences with Palm Tree Computer Systems has been 5 Star and I would not hesitate to recommend them. read more

The worst service I have ever received. I brought my computer in to be serviced because the battery died for good. The only reason I brought it in instead of replacing was because I wanted to keep my files. It was completely wiped when I got it back and was charge nearly $1000. The service was so rude as well. This place is a bunch of lies and terrible. The owner Paul is very unprofessional and unable to take any form of feedback. I was quite displeased with the service I received and wanted it fixed. Without directly saying it, he basically called me an idiot and implied I had no idea what I was talking about. I work as a programmer for Apple and the only reason I brought my sons computer in is because I don't have enough time to do the upgrades he wanted and clean out the viruses. Vicki, the lady who works in the front, has consistently interacted with me in the most condescending, scornful manner. I took my wife's Asus laptop and power adaptor into Palm Tree Tech Center (PTTC). I had used them 2-3 times before and was happy with service/price. This time would prove different. They charge $50 to diagnose the problem cause. That $50 goes towards the price of additional work if authorized. I explained the problem: laptop would not stay booted up for very long. Sometimes it was fine for 30-60 seconds; sometimes 10 seconds; but this short time offered no time to diagnose the problem. I told them it might be the internal battery and/or the charging system (those go together). But the laptop, after a short time (1 min max), would unconditionally shut down. They had my laptop/power-adaptor for a week. Their reply: No problem with charging system. It booted up and stay booted up just fine (my comment: then they used their own adaptor and not mine). Their diagnostics supposedly showed a few minor items with charging which they corrected. They said my real problem was that I had a significant problem with viruses. Recommended a $200 wipe-all-clean fix. I declined since the charging, per PTTC, was fine. Well, once home, it was not fine. Same symptoms. I called them: their response was to be careful how I turned the system on with a quick push to the power button. That was not the problem. I decided to check my power adaptor using my voltmeter: it was not working. I found a new one on-line, ordered it, and a week later I had it (order/invoice available; matter of record). I hooked it up, and the laptop was working fine; my wife has now been using it for 2 weeks or so. So I returned to PTTC and said they had misdiagnosed my problem and I wanted my $50 returned. I showed them the power adaptor, which they tested and confirmed it was faulty. They refused a refund and said the charging system was working fine. Bull. I am convinced they used their own power adaptor. I told them I will contest this with AmEx (which I am doing). They said their phone recordings showed I accepted their diagnosis and would use that against me (bull; I did not accept their diagnosis; and it is illegal to record my conversation in Fla without my permission; my permission was never given). I would stay clear of these guys. I do not like this "bait and switch" from the charging system to the virus "problem" (for the record, I have had McAfee installed at least 6 months previous to this charging problem and McAfee, then and now, says I am virus free). They are not consumer friendly. I do not trust them. And I am just disappointed in them. As I already noted, my previous experience with them was good. I usually don't write reviews, but the service I received from these clowns was so bad I had to let the public know. The owner Paul first said that he can have my MacBook screen fixed in a week. Three weeks later he finally had it fixed then within a week it cracked again just from opening it on my desk. Then when I finally got ahold of him after talking to his rude employees, he said there is absolutely nothing we can do to help you because we told you replacing the LCD wouldn't be as strong as replacing the entire screen. If the screen wasn't going to be strong enough to gently open the laptop, they should have just told me to buy a new laptop because that's the same price as replacing the entire screen. Bottom line is they don't stand behind there work or advice one bit and I certainly will never trust their work or advice again. read more

I brought my PS3 to get fixed and left it with them. First, I had to pay a 20 dollar deposit just to drop it off. I did not really mind it but after a week I called them and they told me that they were not done yet. After 2 weeks later THEY STILL WERE NOT DONE! I decided that enough was enough and decided to get it back. When I got it back, they have not done anything! They had not even began to fix it! I got it back and they did not even give me the courteousy to give me my 20 dollar deposit back. The next day I took my PS3 to UBREAKIFIX and they fully repaired it in one day. I read the other two reviews with some curiosity. While I did have a couple of negative experiences about 10 years ago, I returned to Palm for computer repair last year in an effort to support our local Oviedo businesses. My experience this time was light years from the ones many years ago . Most recently, I dealt initially with Austin who I found to be gracious, knowledgeable, and patient to answer my many questions. I have used Palm for repairs and have purchased a computer from them. I have never felt the hard sell, to the contrary. While their job is not to tutor me in computer science, they have always shown a willingness to share their knowledge with me (most of which is way over my head, I must confess). Palm is a mom and pop which is endearing to me. I admit that you might get faster service at the big guy store, you will not get the personal, small town warmth found at Palm Tree. I agree everyone wants their computer back "yesterday" which is not always possible, even at the big guys store. So I suggest if you have the ability to fix your own computer then do so, otherwise you have two choices: 1. go to the "I don't know you from Adam's house cat" big store, or 2. go to a place like Palm Tree where they strive to serve the locals with good service at a decent price...and a smile to boot! As a side note: if you loved Austin ( and who doesn't!) then you will really like Lee! Give 'em a try...you won't be sorry. read more

The Palm Tree experience can best be described as unusual. First, when I came in I was sorta greeted by a disinterested counter service person with no people skills or friendly attitude. All he wanted to do was check-in the repair and give him $50.00 for a diagnostic fee. Not the least bit interested in hearing any of the details of the problem. Said they would be in touch soon. I asked him to define soon and that made the experience even more uncomfortable. A day or 2 later I got an email with a diagnosis, costs and customer options. Communication afterwards was via email and concise with the options and was quickly accomplished (3 days total). New hard drive installed and Windows 10 upgrade for close to $400.00. A tad steep I thought but how do you shop for a better price after paying the upfront diagnostic fee? Lastly, I was asked if I wanted a receipt and I asked it to be emailed. The receipt arrived but only had total price paid not itemization of work and parts or warranty. In this day and age who doesn't provide an itemized bill? The computer works but after all this time, over a month, I still haven't gotten back to normal after the wipe caused by the hard drive replacement. I don't dare go back to Palm Tree seeking advice for fear of another unfriendly engagement and a diagnostic fee. There are dozens of other repair techs in this area and I recommend that they be consulted for initial cost estimates based on problems experiencing. read more

They do a free diagnostic and fix your computer and give it back to you the same day, unlike these clowns that keep your computer for days only to tell you they can't help you and keep their $50 deposit for their "hard work" at fixing nothing. read more

Jeff, the manager of the Sanford store answered all my questions and quoted me a GREAT price to clean up my wife's Mac. (half the price of Best Buy) and he knew what he was talking about. I took her computer to their store and it was ready to pick up the next day. I am in the process of starting a new business, so I took my HP laptop to be cleaned and repaired and Jeff spent several hours working with me showing me the ropes of Windows 8.1. Around 2006 I purchased a "reconditioned" computer with Windows XT from Palm Tree Computers. No issues with the computer but seven years later it was time to upgrade since XT will no longer be supported. I just purchased a "reconditioned" computer with Windows 7. The price was excellent and Palm Tree transferred my all data free of charge. (The big box stores wanted $100 to transfer data). I appreciate the pleasant, prompt, and professional service I received from Palm Tree. With the money I saved not purchasing a new computer, I ended up buying a refurbished 32" flat screen Emerson television from them as well. read more

I took my IPad in the store with a cracked screen to be repaired. I was given a quote of $89 and put a $25 deposit down on the agreement. The anticipated repair time was two days. The next day they call to add $40 extra charges. When I asked just to have my IPad back in the condition I left it in, the employee said it was a tired of the way removed. I was upset but told them to finish. The following day they called back to say they would not need to add the charges. I picked up the iPad on the third and was given the bill totaling $115.00, not my quoted price. I asked the employee and he said that's the price. I was just tired of dealing with them and paid. I would never use them again! The final repair was not good. The on/ off is sticking and the glue it showing all over the sides . read more
