Dave came out for an initial visit to discuss remodeling our two bathrooms. Two weeks went by without a word and so I reached out and was told Dave would contact us. A couple more days went by and we sent a follow up email requesting they at least provide information on the custom shower pan vendor we were shown. Another day has gone by with no reply. My wife and I woke up one morning to find shingles had blown off our roof during a storm. Not being fond of climbing around on the roof, and knowing that we still had another week of storms on the way, I immediately reached out to a few companies to get estimates. Greg, from Palmer and Sons, was the first to respond, and was able to come out ASAP to review the damage. Upon arriving, he immediately climbed up to check out the roof. He noticed the gutters were full, and took the time to clear them for us. He took a few pics of the damage, provided a few options, and made a reasonable suggestion to simply repair the damage vs replacing the entire roof at this point. After making plans for them to repair the roof, Greg and his brother were even able to tarp the roof to protect it until they had time to do a full repair. TLDR: They did a great job, at a fair price, and communicated often and clearly during the entire process. 10/10 read more

Our home is 67 years old. We recently discovered a dry rot issue in a half-bath and laundry room near our garage. I met with five different general contractors in the Sacramento area to address this and decided to hire Palmer & Sons to do the work. Dave Palmer's cost estimate was in the middle of the five estimates I received. His experience and strong work ethic caused me to hire him. Dave and Sons arrived as agreed, removed the old flooring material, and replaced the subflooring in the areas affected by the dry rot. They also removed the leaky toilet and the old vanity and sink. Next, the flooring company I hired installed their new flooring material. Dave Palmer and workers then returned and installed a new baseboard, toilet, and vanity and completed the plumbing for new sink faucets. Hiring Palmer & Sons is the BEST decision I made on this project! I saw a negative review above and have to speak out!!!! This company does NOT deserve a negative review! They've remodeled parts of my house and fixed and updated other parts... Dave knows his stuff, having been in the construction business for many years and his sons (electrician and construction) are super-duper professionals! His son fixed some crazy wiring in our kitchen that no one else could fix right! Finally! We were so impressed!!! So far they've done a new roof, a new bathroom and something else I can't remember, plus fixed a plumbing/piping issue. The roof is the new "cool roof" and it looks fantastic!!! The bathroom remodel looks like a hotel spa bathroom and they had to overcome some obstacles which was not a biggie because of Dave's experience!!! They always return our calls right away and make themselves available! Our neighbors are having their kitchen redone by this company and it's gonna look fantastic!!!! Over the course of the work they've done, their family has become our family and it hurts that someone would give such a negative review for such great people! I had a leak in my roof and called two other companies; one said they could come out in February, and the other said March. Neither would come out to put tarp on my roof. That meant I would be without heat as the leak was dripping into the closet where my heating unit is located. I called Palmer & Son's, and Dave, the owner and a very friendly person, came out the next day. He came out to put a tarp on until they could schedule me an appointment. I trust and respect this company. While my particular project was smaller than what they are currently taking on, they came right away to take a look, and gave me ideas what what might be a reasonable price elsewhere. In reality this project was likely more appropriate for a handyman anyway since it was a very small section of dry rot, but I appreciated them taking the time to look anyway and give me some free advice while they were there. We just bought a house in the Sacramento area and it needed some TLC. We reached out to many contractors and many were over priced and used cheaper materials, but with Dave his prices were slightly lower then the average around the area but he uses some of the best material. Not only did he completely remodel our kitchen but while he was doing that we added our master bath remodel then later added our guest bathroom total remodel. Recently in January a tree fell in my house and destroyed the original patio cover. I had several contractors estimate the job and most would not do all of the work needed to complete the repairs to the patio cover and roof damage to the house. I was recommended Palmer & Sons by an acquaintance who gave them my contact info. Greg immediately contacted me and provided a very reasonable estimate for ALL the work needed. They have completed the patio cover and the results are superb. It is exactly what I wanted and even better than the original with insulation and thoroughly flashed to the house, also superior to the original. Their craftsmen work diligently for several long days even in rain to get the cover completed. I just want to re-emphasize the excellent service I've received from the company. When the rain came back through, it turns out there was still some leaking going on. I reached out to the guys on Thursday, and they were set to come out the next day (and only had to postpone to Saturday because of my work schedule) to see what was up. Dave came out and after some poking around on the roof, found and patched up the likely problem areas. If you are a homeowner and in need of an honest and excellent General Contractor, then I highly suggest you call Palmer & Sons Construction. My first home, a two-story Mediterranean stucco home needed dry rot repairs around many of my window frames, patio and a side garage door over the course of 32 years. I found myself overwhelmed at the task and potential cost to accomplish this. After speaking with another Company and analyzing my issues they recommend I would be better served by a General Contractor, so I decided to call Palmer & Sons Construction. Greg gave me a call and came out for the initial inspection and quote for the dry rot repairs. Since my other goal was to paint the exterior of the home after the dry rot repairs, I asked him to include a separate quote for a high-quality paint job as well. Dave the owner came out next to verify everything that Greg and I discussed and the scope of the work that I wanted done. The rest is history, so I hired Palmer & Sons for the dry rot repairs and exterior painting. Since they are a full-service company and I mean it's all in the family by individual trades which are his sons. I ended up hiring them for electrical lighting, outlet repairs both inside and out that needed my attention. They reinforced my lattice patio built 20 years ago by my Dad which made my day. Once the repairs were completed to my satisfaction. They painted my home with a beautiful long term exterior color that will last for many years to come. So we hired Dave Palmer and sons to completely remodel an extra bathroom. Prior to this remodel stood a 1990's remodel, there was loose tile, water damage and incorrect shower door (the last contractor installed a bathtub door and told me to duck getting inside. When Palmer and Sons left there was a beautiful quartz surround and a penny tile floor with a French drain and an S curve shower door. Firstly I never knew there was a thing called a French drain and secondly I thought it was normal to bend and duck under my old shower door. His vision and drive shaped us a spa environment and took this room from 1990 to the new tech. One thing that put it over the top is the lighted infinity mirror also his subs. All were fantastic and trustworthy and a real pleasure to be around. It felt like we had friends over for dinner every time.
