Ehh. My fiancé and family did not like it here. First the set-up is terrible. You walk down some steps outside and have to wait to be seated. That's fine, but this is also how you exit. So you are constantly shuffling with people waiting to be seated and leaving. Also with these stairs, it is not wheelchair friendly. This also makes it difficult for families with a stroller as this vineyard is kid friendly. Now the wine. We each got a "mystery flight." We were given 4 different wines and we had to figure out what it was. If we got them all correct, the flight is free. We didn't them all correct at all. This concept itself is fun and definitely creates for good conversation as everyone puts their input into their guesses. We weren't a fan of the wines either. We just didn't think they tasted good. There is some food offerings here, but we didn't get any. We agreed that we wouldn't return here. One and done. read more

This was the perfect pitstop during a Friday funday. Came here around 4 pm to take full advantage of the pizza truck and (and also try to beat the rain) and was surprised but also secretly happy to find that this place only had a few tables occupied. Palmer Vineyards offers an array of wines ranging from dry to sweet. I always feel like I have to get a flight when I'm at a vineyard to try a little bit of everything, but was a little let down at the size of these pours for the price ($23 for 4 small pours), especially when full glasses start at $11. No matter, it was a treat yourself type of day, but something to be aware of. My flight included a Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Dry Rose and Sparkling Rose, all of which were enjoyable. We ordered the Funghi pizza from their truck which came out piping hot and was rich and flavorful. You can't beat the ambiance here really -- the views are beautiful but the vibes aren't as stuck up as some of the other wineries in this area. We were tempted to stay for the live music, but the weather was looking iffy and we had other spots on our list so we kept it moving. Also want to say that this place had A+ service -- servers were friendly and accommodating even after we abandoned our uncovered table and made a run for it when it started to downpour. Quaint family vineyard. They have lots of different seating, inside, covered patio, lawn, and outdoor lounge area. My husband and I went on Monday and it was pretty quiet. We should've known that they only serve pizza on the weekends (fri-sun to be exact). Was really looking forward to the funghi pizza. Oh wells, next time. We ended up ordering the red & white/rose flight. We didn't like anything from the white/rose flight. My hubbie liked the red blend only from the red flight. After the flight, I was interested to try whether their 2015 merlot was more full body than their 2017 on their flight. It definitely was and was my favorite. It was good for a glass but quite steep for a bottle $50+. Being a bit of a wine snob, it taste more like in the $30 range. As for the snacks we ordered, we loved the Pate! It was sooooo good. It's very possible that it's the same one from whole foods but it was delicious. It was served with tiny toast and cracker. Yum! The garlic herb spread was good, like a more gourmet version of boursin (tad saltier). As for service, Chris took care of us. He was nice and came to check up on us time to time. There wasn't much guests that day but I'm sure it's similar on a busier day. It definitely felt more of a family run vineyard which I love unlike a big vineyard just trying to make money. My second vineyard of the day. I was excited to see flights. I wanted to try as many wines as I could today. At the door, I had to rub my eyes, but was I seeing correctly?? A cat?? Had an absolutely wonderful time at Palmer Vineyards. It was a beautiful summer day with a slight breeze and I spent a great afternoon hanging out in the sun, taking in the view, and enjoying the $40 tasting special that came with four wines and a charcuterie board filled to the brim. The price includes tax and tip too, so that was a nice bonus. Our server and tasting guide Christian provided spectacular service, incredible recommendations, and detailed descriptions of the wines presented. We went there as a part of a winery tour (private 2 couples) and could not have been more pleased. They were welcoming and informative and our table on the deck was the best! The wine quality though, was surprisingly good. I have to admit that I was originally there more for the winery experience and to enjoy the ambiance. However, the white wine flight I ordered changed my mind. I have to make a special mention about the Paumanok dry riesling (from their sister vineyard). Pinot Blanc has to be Long Island's speciality. Out of four wines we tried, Merlot is bit raw but all other three are decent, and the Pinot is the best. Although I found the guy has better attitude but over all their service is good, on a weekday in late November. * No outside food any longer. NO tasting any more - this is disappointing.* Below is for the LI vineyards in general Time has changed: 30 some years ago when my friend would stuck out her tongue "turning red ..." when I mentioned LI vineyards. Wine tasting was free. 20 years ago, many vineyards have renovated and they charged a fee for tasting (flats... and discount if you buy after tasting ...) About a decade ago the low cut/high hem girls arrived in doves in limos, signaling the arrival of Long Island vineyards. But Napa they're NOT. We haven't been back in couple of years and today we see "no outside food" sign. Roanoke Vineyards even requires you to become a member to taste their wines (seriously?!? Hell NO!) Good for them if they could forgo the bring-your-own-food concession. Some vineyards we went were outrageous that many patrons s even brought rolling coolers, that made the tasting rooms/tents noisy, messy and very annoying. Now with the table service, it seems no more tasting (wish they keep the tasting menu tho, with different flats ...), straight per glass basis. But over all I'm glad they've prospered. Aside, churning out decent wines. There is distance to catch up with Napa but east coast always does things differently than the West. Who knows. The hit and run party scenes may be the only way that make the vineyards survive. On this note, I'd say go Long Island vineyard and go Long Island wines. read more

Delicious Syrah ! The Cabernet franc was very good too! Came here on New Year's Eve and it was nice and peaceful! Outside they had heaters, which were perfect! Ordered the charcuterie board, which had a nice variety. Came by here spontaneously on the bike. We haven't been here before so it was exciting :) We get to the out door seating and you pretty much have to text your order and either pay by cash or venmo. The ordering process is a little confusing. To get food, you text, but anything else like beverages, you just gota flag a server down. And for oysters, you go to the tent. We got there a little later since we didn't plan it and they didn't have much left on the menu and were doing last call for drinks (which was around 4 or 4:30p or so). Here's what we ordered: - 2x shrimp cocktails - half dozen oysters It was a nice scene and does allow dogs. I just wish ordering was easier as far as drinks go. celebrated my boyfriends birthday with a couple of friends and made the trip out to eastern longisland to go to this winery. luckily this was last minute planning, so we didn't need to make a reservation and we were a party of 5. the vineyard was very much open space and there was a nice occasional breeze despite being in the middle of july. there were the occassional flies swarming our table but thats to be expected for a place being outdoors. they didn't have an indoor dining section, so it was just outdoor seating and they had a couple of picnic tables as well. i ordered the flight of red whine, and my friends ordered the flight of white wines and a couple of bottles to split with the tables. each wine was very distinct in its flavoring but i definitely preferred the flight of white wines more than mine. however, the RIESLING wine that we got there was to die for. literally tasted like sweet champagne candy which is my favorite type of wine. i could down two bottles of that by myself and they were around $30. however the true champion was the cheese board we got with a side of honey and bread chips. the BRIE was the best brie that ive ever had!!! it was so creamy, decadent, and rich. with every bite with the honey i was transported to brie and wine heaven. it complimented the wine so well and we ordered another round of cheese board just for that brie. wish it was bigger, but what can ya do. also only complaint was that after our server gave us food, he didn't really come back out to check up on us to make sure we needed anything so i had to go inside just to get the check and a couple of other items. overall, i would recommend this place and if you go definitely get the Riesling and the Brie cheese !! read more

I don't always drink wine, but when I do, I prefer to get it from a Vineyard. This isn't actually (usually) the case (and might not even be true when talking about this review), but it sounded kind of nice right? (Thanks, Most Interesting Man in the World, for a version of that opening statement). My semi-recent (okay, like end of September) outing here with a few blood-related females resulted in a positive Palmer experience worthy of returning. There are a plethora of Vineyards to choose from on the North Fork of LI so narrowing it down can be kind of difficult. Yelp can help (of course), though when I took a gander, the 3 1/2 star average had me mildly skeptical (especially compared to others that were scoring higher as a whole). Once we parked and started to walk the grounds, I quickly changed my worrisome tune. Palmer is quaintly spacious in its different rooms, from the interior tasting area complete with tables as well as vintage booth seating, to the outdoor deck serving up great views of the grape vines, to the actual grassy pre-vine spot filled with adirondack chairs and more tables to be found. It's got some good flow from section to section. Beyond the feng shui, Palmer concocts some respectable reds and whites (and other wine shades as well). Being the driver, I chose not to partake in a flight, though my mom and sis took the opportunity and so I leeched a few sips of each of the varieties they were sampling. The 2016 Viognier had a mildly fruity flavor while the 2017 Riesling hit some apple-ish notes along with a decent dryness. Neither blew me away, but the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, which had a smokey finish that fit the "cigar box" description, did a better job of activating my taste buds. The favorite of the four was probably the 2015 Gewürztraminer which brought a sweetness with a little zest in finish. I'm not a wine connoisseur so I can't say for certain on the quality, but I think I've had some that are better and I've definitely had plenty that are worse. Maybe this next part shouldn't be a factor in reviewing (or at least not for some), but when a place has local beer on tap, I have to give it a shout out. The fact that Palmer was rocking some Moustache (and I happened to notice it had previously been pouring Jamesport Farm) was worthy of a mention, and maybe a pint or two. It was a factor that helped to solidify the four stars received, even if grapes were not a part of this alcoholic intake. Overall, Palmer Vineyards is a quality spot to get your wine on. In warmer months/fall weather you'll find a beautiful outdoor area to sit back and sip, while the colder days lend to the comfortably woody interior where you'll sample some vino of tastiness. So maybe I usually focus on the brews (okay, more than usual), but at least I know on the instances that I'd like a little wine action, Palmer can fit the bill, and thensome. read more

I am not one to give such a low rating for a review, but I was aghast at the racism I experienced with my husband and our friends when we visited this past weekend. We were a group of diverse individuals. We walked straight into the field where we saw patrons enjoying the warm weather at picnic tables with wine. There was a security guard who told us we needed to walk through the entrance of the vineyard instead of walking straight into the field.. as we witnessed others walk past calmly without any comment from said guard. As the hostess sat us at our table, we were told that we couldn't bring outside food into the vineyard as per the manager and I quote, "It's a bad look." It was nachos and a burrito! That's it! We offered to buy food off the menu thinking maybe that would offset us bringing our own food, but we were still told no. We weren't looking for trouble, so we put our food away. HOWEVER, we noticed that the predominantly blonde, blue eyed group next to us brought a homemade tray of lasagna covered with tin foil and a homemade birthday cake! Why was it okay for them to bring and eat food - and not for us? We saw plenty of servers- and the same manager - go back and forth without saying a single thing to them. I am a psychologist and my husband is an OR nurse; we are blessed with great monetary careers and were willing to spend a pretty penny for an enjoyable vineyard experience, but I felt as if we were treated less than, and there was an unspoken assumption that my group wasn't going to spend much. Service was slow, and I was so irritated and angered with my experience that I absolutely did not enjoy myself. I will never come back! If you are a person or color or from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds, I would refrain from coming to this establishment. There are plenty of other vineyards on the island who will treat you well!! read more

Of all the vineyards in the area, I stopped by here on Valentines weekend because I saw they were doing a special wine and donut flight. It was so fun! With this flight, we got 5 wine and donut pairings, as well as champagne when we walked in. In addition to their tasting room, they have a beautiful, spacious outdoor area and a small attached building where you can see the equipment, read about their process, and learn more about wine making. We also got Marcona almonds, a glass of Merlot, 2 bottles of wine and olive oil to bring home.
