My wife and I love to come here for the amazing steaks. I think they're better by far than the famous Milwaukee steak chain that start with a B. That said, stay for the dessert! The cookie and ice cream treat is truly indescribably delicious! A WOW!

Thin, dry fish that is NOT Chilean Sea Bass

I know this area is not very knowledgeable about seafood, but recently several local restaurants have taken to offering Chilean sea bass only to serve some imposter. Maybe they don't even know, but I asked the waiter if it was truly Chilean Sea Bass and he assured me that it was. But the fish I received was a flat, flaky white fish with little flavor and none of the succulent, oily texture of what I ordered. When he asked in passing how the meal was, I said this was not Chilean Sea Bass only to have him keep walking, ignoring my reply. I have had this experience in other area restaurants, so I will probably just stop ordering it only to be disappointed. Beware of false fish!.

Five Stars for Palmer's Steakhouse - A Perfect Blend of Flavor and Flair From the moment we sat down at Palmer's, we knew we were in for a treat. Dinner kicked off exactly as it should -- with a beautifully garnished Old Fashioned -- and only got better from there. The appetizers set the tone: the hanging bacon was as fun as it was flavorful, and the escargot stuffed into mushrooms was rich, garlicky perfection. Even the bread was noteworthy -- served warm in a little paper bag, easy to pull apart and impossible to stop eating. My NY Strip, topped with bone marrow butter and paired with button mushrooms, was cooked flawlessly. The fresh green beans on the side were crisp, vibrant, and clearly not an afterthought. And I have to give a standing ovation to the French onion soup: served in a classic crock overflowing with melted cheese -- exactly the way it should be. We were celebrating a colleague's birthday, and Palmer's added their own festive touch with a brownie and ice cream topped with a sparkling firework. Classy, fun, and memorable. To top it all off, they were running a deal on one of my favorite wines -- Caymus -- which made the evening even sweeter. A delightful, delicious meal shared with great business partners -- Palmer's Steakhouse knows how to make every visit feel special. Already looking forward to the next one!

We came here for our anniversary dinner at 5 pm on a Wednesday. They weren't seating people when we got there so we ordered a drink at the bar. The bar is small so we had to stand off in the back corner which was kind of annoying. When they sat us, our server Emmy(sp?) immediately came over and refilled our cocktails. She explained the menu in good detail which was nice. It wasn't too loud in the restaurant which was good so my husband and I could have a good conversation at dinner. The restaurant has Christmas decorations everywhere it was cute ! I ordered the 8 oz filet and it was perfection. Charred on the outside and soft on the inside with bone marrow butter on top. I ordered a twice baked potato which was delish. My steak came with a side salad which was your normal side salad. They brought complimentary bread. My husband ordered a 24 oz porterhouse steak - he said it was made to perfection. He also got a twice baked potato. He got the beer cheese popcorn soup and said he wouldn't have ordered that again. The ambiance was great for a nice romantic dinner. They brought us out a complimentary brownie and ice cream for our anniversary. Total bill for our 2 dinners with 2 drinks each was $175. Mind you I had $11 cocktails. The prickly pear margarita was so amazing I had to have 2! My only complaint is front bar area was crammed and nowhere to move or stand really, but there's nothing much that can be done about that.

The service was great. The waitstaff was fast and friendly. Explained the menu options and covered the specials for the day. The restaurant is very beautiful on the inside but kept kind of dark. I food is amazing and I did enjoy it, but for what it is it's overpriced. $51 for a 16oz ribeye is a bit pricey. While the steak was delicious it wasn't $50 delicious.

It had been raining all day and was super humid outside. I think it was unexpected rain so my husband requested an outdoor seat. Even with the weather they didn't adjust anything! I was pretty surprised when they put us outside even though there was a cover. Some other people were outside and didn't seem to mind but I was right next to an opening and was getting sprinkled on! It was extremely muggy outside so I'm pretty surprised they still had the outside patio area open. They put some loud fans on im guessing to fix the humidity, but I felt like they were just loud and it was still muggy/humid outside. We asked to sit inside and they seemed annoyed and stated that it would be another 40 minutes if we wanted a table inside. My husband found two cramped seats at the bar so we went there. The bar tender was nice and pretty quick given how busy they were. The bread was really crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The butter was still very frozen which was a little annoyed for an upscale steakhouse. We started with salads that had a delicious peppercorn ranch. I got the filet with shrimp. The grilled shrimp was cooked perfectly and they were quite large. The steak was cooked well but definitely overly salty. The green beans were good, but it was as if they just sprinkled the seasoning on the top because only the few on the top were seasoned. My husband said his steak was good but over salted as well. The creamed corn wasn't really creamed and had a soupy sauce that was all at the bottom of the bowl. The risotto just tasted like buttery sticky rice and nothing like risotto should taste. The Mac and cheese had no cheese or flavor. It just tasted like noodles with a small amount of sauce at the bottom. Also the small and large sizes for sides was essentially the same and not worth the upcharge for the large. The fries were cooked perfectly. The peanut butter pie was delicious and is made in house! Overall I don't think I'd come back cause the food was really just okay and the sides were pretty bad.

Finally made it out to Palmer's, after living in Hartland for almost 18 years lol. Boy, have I been missing out! First, I thought their pricing was very reasonable for being a steakhouse. The brandy old fashioned was only $7 and the blueberry mule was $9. Then all our meals came with soup/salad and a side potato. That's unheard of if you were in Milwaukee. Normally everything is al a carte so this was a great surprise. I got the ribs and they literally fell off the bone. Not to mention the delicious barbecue sauce with them I tried David's filet and it was soo flavorful and had an awesome char. Even the salad in the beginning was great. It was super fresh and just overall a great meal! We will definitely be back.

    Hanging bacon. Mmmmm

Reservations are an absolute must because this establishment is always busy. Our server Jessica was exceptional. Steaks cooked to order. Nice seafood selection. New appetizers to try.

This visit was a bit disappointing. Food: We started with a couple of the Sangria specials, a beer, and I ordered one of their signature cocktails, the Dolce Old Fashioned. The sangrias that arrived weren't actually the ones we had ordered. Our server caught the mistake as she brought them to the table and offered to have the correct ones made or let us keep these at no charge. Since they were delicious, we happily kept them. My Dolce Old Fashioned was excellent. We skipped appetizers because we wanted to save room for dessert. After all, it was my birthday dinner. We ordered two pizzas, the pork chops, and I chose the Duck Leg Confit. The timing of the entrées was awkward. It felt more like a tapas dinner than a restaurant serving a table together. My duck arrived first, then we waited. Next came the pork chops, followed by another wait. Finally, about ten minutes after the first plate arrived, the two pizzas were served. It's much more enjoyable when everyone can start eating together. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, with one exception: my duck. It was drier and tougher than I had expected. The braised cabbage and roasted potatoes that accompanied it were both very good. Given how the evening had already gone, I didn't make an issue of it, but I did make a mental note not to order that dish again. We finished with several desserts, including the Almond Cake and the Warm Date Cake. Both were excellent and provided a nice ending to an otherwise uneven meal. Service: The service throughout the evening was good. We were seated right away, and our server, Nicole, greeted us promptly, got us settled in, and answered our questions about the menu and nightly specials. Unfortunately, she found herself apologizing several times during the meal. First for the incorrect drinks, and later for the staggered arrival of the entrées. None of those issues seemed to be her fault, and she handled everything professionally and with a great attitude. Atmosphere: The restaurant is attractive and thoughtfully laid out, with several different seating areas. Our table of four was in a smaller section they refer to as the lounge. The air conditioning kept the room comfortable, and the noise level made conversation easy. I'm not sure whether the food quality and timing issues were just the result of an off night or something more representative. It does make me pause before making another reservation. I may check a few recent reviews before deciding to come back.

We started with the Arugula Radicchio Salad (perfectly dressed!) and a cup of Potato Leek Soup, then shared the Duck Leg Confit (it was the best duck we've had in awhile, and braised cabbage! those duck fat roast potatoes!) and the Beef Filet with potato gratin (yum!!), watercress and red wine jus. Every dish had a nice wood-fired flavor. Excellent quality across the board, and the prices felt very reasonable for what you're getting. Our server was excellent - attentive, knowledgeable, friendly without hovering. The support staff kept our waters filled and dishes cleared seamlessly. We appreciated the NA beer, wine, and cocktail options. I had a modified French 75 and loved it - it's nice to have thoughtful non-alcoholic choices. Someday I'd love to grab seats at the counter in front of the kitchen to watch the action. We will be back!

I was here for a birthday dinner. We had a table that faced the window, so we had a great view of the lake. It was a Saturday, and they even had a guitarist playing music, which was a nice touch. We ordered the smash burger and the salmon. The meat in the burger was very tender and flavorful. It melts in your mouth. We chose the truffle fries with it and these complemented the burger nicely. I liked the fries more than the burger. The salmon came with crispy skin on top, which is my favorite part of salmon. The best part of that dish was the crispy roasted brussels sprouts, probably the best I ever had! So rich and savory! They made my partner's birthday special with a dessert on the house. We shared a rumchata bread pudding, which was sweet but not overpowering. They even wrote "happy birthday" in chocolate and gave him a handwritten card. They really went above and beyond. The restaurant captures that same timeless elegance of the late 1950s. From the moment we walked in, I knew we were in for a special evening. The candle burning in the reception area smelled amazing and set the tone before we were even seated. The service was impeccable, the lake views were gorgeous, and every detail was thoughtfully done. Even the restrooms were beautiful--spotlessly clean with elegant wallpaper, vintage-inspired furnishings, and even a mother's room, adding to the nostalgic 1950s flair. Now, let's talk about the food. Start your evening with a Boulevardier--it just sounds elegant, and it certainly tastes the part. Pair it with the fully loaded shrimp and crab bisque for a fantastic start. For your entrée, order the filet Oscar with asparagus and whipped potatoes accompanied with additional sides of hen-of-the-woods mushrooms and candied carrots. I also enjoyed an Infante with my filet, and it was the perfect complement to the meal. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The rhubarb dessert was the perfect ending--creamy, crunchy with a light meringue topping, and filled with tart rhubarb that balanced every bite. If you're looking for a place where Lake Country celebrates life's special moments, The Commodore is it. With impeccable service, stunning lake views, timeless 1950s-inspired elegance, and exceptional food, it's an experience as much as it is a meal. Make a reservation--you won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately, the service and follow-up were disappointing. We were not initially offered a wine list, and when we asked about ordering wine for the table, our server assumed we wanted individual glasses. The menu also referenced a soup of the day and dessert of the day, but we had to specifically ask what they were rather than having them explained to us. The biggest issue occurred when we ordered four desserts for the table but were charged for seven. I replied to one of the restaurant's follow-up emails explaining our experience and requesting contact from a manager. I received a quick response saying my message had been passed along, but more than a week went by without hearing from anyone. I then called the restaurant directly, provided my information again, and was told a manager would contact me and address the overcharge. Another week has now passed, and I still have not been contacted or refunded. I really dislike leaving negative reviews, and I gave the restaurant multiple opportunities to resolve the issue privately. While we will likely continue visiting other Bartolotta restaurants, we probably will not return to The Commodore. It is unfortunate because the food was good and the setting was truly 10/10, but the lack of follow-through has overshadowed the experience.
