I am pleased to write this review. I had a wonderful experience here. We had reservations and were about ten minutes early, but our table was ready and got seated right away. I was here for a birthday dinner. We had a table that faced the window, so we had a great view of the lake. It was a Saturday, and they even had a guitarist playing music, which was a nice touch. We ordered the smash burger and the salmon. The meat in the burger was very tender and flavorful. It melts in your mouth. We chose the truffle fries with it and these complemented the burger nicely. I liked the fries more than the burger. The salmon came with crispy skin on top, which is my favorite part of salmon. The best part of that dish was the crispy roasted brussels sprouts, probably the best I ever had! So rich and savory! They made my partner's birthday special with a dessert on the house. We shared a rumchata bread pudding, which was sweet but not overpowering. They even wrote "happy birthday" in chocolate and gave him a handwritten card. They really went above and beyond. Came here based on a rec from a friend, and she was indeed correct! Definitely a higher-end place but you're paying for the great ambiance, the lovely beach-front location, the swanky cocktails, and the decident menu. My girlfriend and I made reservations in advance through Yelp, and it was the right call because this place is busyyy, especially on a Friday night. We were sat at a hightop and quickly greeted by a very friendly server. She never once made us feel rushed, which is always appreciated. For drinks, we both got the a gin-based cocktail called 'dress to empress' which had tasty lychee infused syrup and lime juice. Very refreshing. We also shared the brussel sprouts app and oh my gooooodness I could order that 10x over. Not to mention the portion was massive. It had big pieces of shaved parmesan, a honey aioli and some kind of chili oil. So darn good. I went with the salmon entree. Loved the fingerling potatoes and other accoutrements that came along with it. The salmon itself was A-OK. Like good but I've definitely had better. We ended up at Artisan 179 on a whim Friday night. We were lucky enough to get a table and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I had the shaved brussel sprout salad and added chicken. The salad was super flavorful and the chicken took it to the next level. The pancetta was crunchy and added a nice textural component. Only downside is that the noise was next level. I recently stopped by Artisan 179 and had a great experience. Our server, who was on the younger side, was clearly expertly trained and was so polite and accommodating. I was seriously impressed. My table was seated outside on a beautiful day and had a nice view of the lakefront. I ordered the caesar salad and a side of fries, which were each delicious and well done for simple dishes. This is a very nice place! The food was just delicious and I love that a lot of it is homemade/from local farms. The waitress was very patient and kind with us. We were seated outside by the road, table was on stilts, uneven and wobbled. We had a table for 7 with 4 kids, 20% service fees automatically added. Service was slow, missed one water glass and silverware were not on the table when food was served. Menu is limited and there is up-charge ($6-$36) for the protein with a $19 lunch salad. I had a sandwich which was very salty. Parmesan fries were the best item on the menu. Overall, there are much better places to eat. read more

Second time here. Both experiences were good. Would definitely come back. There were two of us, had 6:30 reservations on a Wednesday night. Got seated right away. The place was buzzing and there was a full house. We were seated along the front windows. The smaller tables are a little closer than I would pick, but our fellow diners had quiet conversations. There was also a musician playing near the door, but not too loud or distracting. Our servers did a great job the entire evening with getting us drinks, food, and any else we needed. Thanks Mallory and Sofie for being personable and fun! Got a couple of the Brown Mumblers, which are basically an Old Fashioned with a brown sugar cube and sweet soda. Which is very good! We had the Bang Bang Shrimp of an Appetizer, Tortellini and Short Rib for our Entrees. Everything came out hot, flavorful and good portions. The Shrimp was cooked perfectly, nice and firm and flavorful. The Short Rib was tender and loved the addition of the Leek Bone Marrow Butter (seeing lots of Bone Marrow Butter in other restaurants). The musician that they had play an excellent collection of classic rock, but in a more quiet, subtle style. Excellent choice for the evening. Another nice evening. Yet another wonderful meal and experience at Artisan! This is one of our favorite local spots for dinner as they always have great cocktails, food, and service! We started with our favorite app - the truffle popcorn... it is so good and doesn't fill you up before the meal. We then spilt the shaved Brussel sprout salad which is always delicious. From there we got the bone in pork chop and the short rib ravioli special. Both are pictured below and both were wonderful!! Overall - Food and drinks were good, but don't think they justify the price tag. Service was OK, but, again, would expect better considering the cost. Had reservation for 2 at 6:45pm on Saturday night and the restaurant was nearly full, so went to get a drink at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready. After we were seated 15 minutes later, there wasn't a server to check on us for another 10 minutes. By the time we received our food it was after 8pm and our server hadn't really checked on us between sitting down and receiving our meal. Both the chicken and filet mignon were tasty, however, was expecting more considering the $40+ and $60+ cost of the plates. Ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was great and served more timely. We each had two cocktails (~$16/each), an entree, and shared a dessert, with our bill coming in at $175 before tip. Several more visits since last review, and still great experiences. Tonight, a friend and I shared the Waygu Meatballs with Burrata and Caramelized Brussels sprouts as starters. The meatballs were a perfectly firm texture with the right amount of seasoning. The Brussels sprouts were as great as they look in the photo! My friend ordered the Ricotta Gnocchi, and I ordered the Bucatini Bolognese. The pasta and gnocchi are made in house. I had a couple pieces of her gnudi (gnocchi made from ricotta) and found them to bee too dense, but the sauce they were served in was delicious! My bucatini was a perfect texture, and the bolognese sauce tasted great! It's made with wagyu beef and Berkshire pork, so I wish the sauce had a lot less cream, so the meat could stand out in a thinner tomato sauce. Again, great flavor! For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Sachet, filled with white chocolate mousse and raspberry puree, and it was mind blowingly decadent! The Limoncello Chambord Mousse with sugar cookie was also decadent, but the Chocolate Sachet was our favorite! We each ordered a cocktail. I had the Blood Orange Manhattan, and it was one of the best cocktails I've ever had! Their cocktail program is pretty strong! I've enjoyed many over the years from them. Our service from Emily and Mary was on point! They were both fun and personable. The view of the lake across the street, as we dined on the patio, added to the great experience! It had been a while since I had dined at Artisan 179 and now I ask myself WHY? This restaurant has such amazing character, fabulous service and amazing food ... not to mention the fantastic craft cocktail selection! Sat at the bar with a friend and shared a few small plates and each selection was amazing .... but I would say don't pass up the bang bang shrimp it was outstanding from flavor to the jumbo shrimp themself! The food was really well done, and it's hard to beat the view out onto Pewaukee lake! Our service was spotty with a few things taking far longer than they should've (drinks, bread, apps). Server was very personable, and made up for a lot with a surprise birthday desert for my wife (even though we really wanted some angel food cake inside that mug! The short rib was tender and delicious, so was the snapper, and the cauliflower bits can with a tangy and spicy sauce that was delicious. The price tag and the lack of really excellent service made this meal a little underwhelming, and it's the second time that it's been that way. We had high hopes for Artisan 179 given its reputation and the beautiful lakefront setting, and the view truly was spectacular. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. From the start, the dining room was overrun with flies. At any given time there were at least five buzzing around us or landing on our table, food, and even on us. For a restaurant at this price point, that's unacceptable and immediately took away from the experience. We arrived around 3:30 PM, but were told dinner service didn't start until 4:30. We decided to wait, but once we ordered, the food still took nearly an hour to come out. I even overheard our server in the back complaining about a dinner order that had been in for 45 minutes, which turned out to be ours. When the food finally arrived, my thick-cut pork chop was excellent, perfectly cooked and flavorful, but it was obvious the sides had been plated far earlier and left to sit. The vegetables were cold and unappetizing, and the shoestring potatoes were stone cold. Service was polite but disengaged. The servers avoided eye contact with me altogether and only addressed my wife, which felt awkward and dismissive. Between the flies, the wait times, and the uneven service, this visit was a major disappointment. For the price, there are far better dining options in the area, I'd recommend taking your money elsewhere until they address these issues. read more
