Finally I made it to the Ash! Been wanting to visit Ash Milwaukee since it opened and glad I could make it here. I called in for a brunch reservation couple hours ahead of time and luckily got an availability. When I reached, the place was packed so I am glad I called earlier. The decor and space is awesome - an amazing rustic feel! They have a fireplace which was perfect for a cozy Milwaukee winter - any day. They had a DJ station and a DJ mixing music once in a while - I am guessing it's more happening during evenings. Me and my friend got seated right away and got us one of those high top tables. It was a long table which is usually shaded between groups but at the time it was just us. Our server attended to us right away and offered us drinks. After having looked at the menu for a couple of mins we decided what we wanted. I got the seasonal omelette !! It was yumm. It comes with fingerling potatoes which were crisp and nicely done. I also liked that the omelette was a decent side .. probably made of 1 or 2 egg and not a huge 5 egg omelette which a lot of places serve. The flavors were amazing! I subbed the ham for sausage in it and it was totally worth it. I would like to come here for dinner someday and try out those options! Overall a good experience and I do hope the menu is rotated once in a while for brunch.

Brunch Review They only have brunch on Sunday's and to see the menu you have to click "branded/yard menus" which was not intuitive Brief: Great atmosphere and a little pricey but quality food. The restaurant is in the ironworks hotel and parking was relatively easy. The atmosphere was contemporary and had a plethora of ages. The menu did brunch is not large but it was good. I really enjoyed the chicken and waffles (wished the chicken was a little bigger) it did have a nice kick of spice and my wife loved the "plain Jane". You can reserve a table and i recommend that. I would go again and enjoyed my experience.

Ash is the new concept in the Iron Horse Hotel that opened just a mere three days ago. This visit was probably a bit too soon to give it a legitimate review, as we came for their very first Sunday brunch--but I'll give it a go. Space is awesome, it has the design of the Iron Horse, and they even had a DJ in there to get the brunch vibes going. I got reservations on Open Table but they didn't even look me up nor check me off, so I am not sure making reservations would even be helpful. A weird kink they should work out, as many people use that system if it's available. Our server was super sweet but nervous, and we didn't see her right away. It was not busy so it was hard to determine where everyone even was. We saw a couple wait for a good 5 minutes at the hostess stand to then walk away. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and the chicken and waffles. Biscuits & gravy were super onion-y--a different twist on the classic. I could see where some may like that (and I love onions), but it was a bit over powering. On the other hand, Chicken & Waffles were outstanding. Sweet & spicy. Very good! I'd get these again for sure. I plan to come back for dinner soon and give this a full review and hopefully bring up the rating! After all, it's a brand new restaurant that is sure to work out kinks. They've done a brilliant job for their other concepts, so I have high hopes.

This new restaurant at the Iron Horse Hotel surely did not disappoint! After seeing a couple of pictures of the food and knowing how great the other restaurants that are owned by Dan and Dan, I had to check it out We got there right after 10 and it was already starting to fill up (even though the restaurant opened at 10). We found out after we got seated that there was a wedding party that stayed at the hotel that night hence why it was so busy. (Something to keep in mind if you stop by for brunch). Our waitress was amazing though and took our drink orders pretty quick and then shortly after came over to ask for a food order so we didn't stuck behind the wedding party and waiting a long time for our food. Our drinks came out pretty quickly - I had the Bottomless Mimosas (only $20 and truly a bottomless mimosa!) and my friend had the Bacon-Washed Bourbon Bloody Mary. The mimosas came out in a carafe to make it easy for me to refill my own glass without having to constantly ask for another from the mimosa. They were absolutely delicious and the perfect mix of champagne and orange juice. I did try the Bloody Mary and it was pretty good too - could definitely taste the bacon and bourbon! Our food came out very soon after our drinks and both of us had the Fried Chicken and Waffle with the Biscuits and Sausage Gravy to share. The Friend Chicken and Waffle was AMAZING! It had a chili honey that surrounded the dish and it was the perfect amount of spice to mix with the syrup. Absolutely loved it if you want a touch of spicy to a brunch classic. The Biscuits and Sausage Gravy were very good and not spicy at all - definitely a good choice if you don't want anything outside of the box. Our waitress was great and didn't make us rush out at all. We ended up sitting there enjoying a couple more drinks while she helped the chaos of the wedding party that was sitting near us. After sitting there for about 2 hours we got our check and not kidding you, our waitress was not wanting us to leave. I will definitely be back here as it it so worth your money to stop in. The staff is so nice and the ambience is great. Add this as a new brunch spot on your list!

Our server, Adam, was quick and attentive. He was funny, suggested items for us to try, and was very tentative of our friend's food allergy. We started the night with a few drinks; #39 non-alcoholic Paloma, #129 non-alcoholic sbagiato, and #33 Sherry Pear-Y. All of which were absolutely amazing! Then we ordered the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs (comes with two pieces), Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushrooms, Cappelletti, Slow-braised Bison Cheek, Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish), and the Wood-fired Bavette Steak. Where do I begin? First off, everything was fantastic! Delicious, creative, and memorable. Some dishes even had us ordering seconds! First the Chili Crisp Deviled Eggs: so creamy! We ended up ordering another plate of them (four orders) because one wasn't enough for the four of us. The Crispy Thai-Style Oyster Mushroom: insanely seasoned! It was crispy and the kick of the Thai chili peppers, made it our tables favorite (we ordered another plate of this)! The bits of crunch rice mixed in was also a pleasant surprise. The bits of green beans and cucumber was a nice way to cool the kick of the spices. The Slow-braised Bison Cheek: It was very interesting. Very soft and when paired with the polenta cake, mozzarella, and carrot, it tasted amazing. Cha Ca La Vong (Catfish): Also very interesting. It tastes very similar to a Vietnamese catfish soup! The pineapple fish sauce paired amazing with the glass noodles. The only complaint I have about this dish, was that the glass noodles weren't fully cooked, so they were a bit hard. The Wood-fired Bavette Steak: My god, this was amazing! It was perfectly cooked, the dark chocolate bordelaise paired with the mushrooms and steak was incredible. Like I said, everything was amazing! Our table was blown away with the creativity and quality of the food. The service was amazing, everyone was very sweet and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and quirky. It was fun spotting all the duck decorations. Honestly, cannot rave enough about this place, I look forward to the next time I visit!

I can tell that there has been a lot of care and detail put into the experience here and I can really appreciate that.

We thoroughly enjoyed the service, our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and did not make us feel rushed to order or leave while we were yapping. My wife chose the 2 piece cod fry with chips while I opted for the perch fry with fries. Everything was spectacular. I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night. The bar area was absolutely packed, but both of the ones I talked to about placing my order were friendly and helpful even with being super busy.

Staff was not prepared at all, actually telling people the guy who usually does speech did not come and they do not know what to say actually. For any alcohol you will buy you will pay in addition which is fine BUT the price for that drink(s) will be surprising you a lot. For 5 sake drinks the bill was around $370. Last two glasses were having less sake than first glasses we were provided, probably because people who already drunk something would not notice the difference. It's ok to have expensive alcohol pairing with high end dinner but in this case the sake was very regular. By the way, at bar 10 steps away from the Dark room (same hotel, same floor, same the floor area) the same sake did cost $23 for two glasses. Well... I understand people try to run business and earn money but everything should not cross some decency borders. These guys did cross the line in my opinion.
