None the less, this was still the worst hair salon experience of my life. I originally went here because the salons in my posh area didn't know how to and didn't want to deal with my natural hair or with it straightened, so I went in with the hope that I'd find a place where I'd feel comfortable and I wanted to go to a black salon because I felt I'd be welcome and accepted. I'm Mexican and Dominican. Upon getting in the chair my stylist asked how I'd found this place and I mentioned google and was really excited to tell her this was my first time in a black salon. You see growing up being biracial in California their are NO DOMINICANS so I was always a pariah. Even my own mom didn't know what to do with my hair. Every time I went to salons in California near me, these salons I would be charged extra and made feel like my hair was a burden because it wasn't nice and straight. She then made me feel like I'd called the salon a racial slur by saying "black salon" I didn't know that was a racial slur and if did offend anyone I am genuinely sorry, that however does not mean you can blatantly laugh at my face and insinuate I'm an idiot, I'm a computer science major for Christ sakes. She then pulls other stylists in asking them to listen how stupid I sound, so now the whole salon is making fun of me. I wanted to cry I was so humiliated. I went to this salon to find a sisterhood and place who'd finally make me feel comfortable, what I got was rolled eyes and laughed at.

After seeing my sister & nieces weave....i missed mine and came back for one as well for my birthday....lol... I decided to try a closure to give my hair a much needed rest and i LOVED it.... im sold and probably will go nowhere else as long as queen of the wink is around the corner lol.... P.S. I have been to some salons where I just cant stand the chat between the stylists...either its in another language or its shouting over your head and just flat out rude....here you feel at home and i often find myself in conversation with the girls that leaves me in tears from laughter.... Simone is an AMAZING stylist but they all are I've sat in the chair and watched Summer and Sparkle do gorgeous weaves and natural hairstyles Tanazsha is a sweetheart who can also do a great cut and her weaving skills are great! I came today on Christmas Eve without an appointment hoping to have a wash and blow for the…read moreholidays. I was in luck and was seated straight away at the basin for my wash. The stylist working on me was Yisette and she was very sweet, checking if I was okay with the shampoo pressure. I like a good thorough wash when I have my hair blown out so I was happy with the pressure. She told me her English wasn't great and my Spanish could be better, but she definitely made sure at all times I was happy. I was so happy with the blow out. S was very gentle. At many Dominican salons it is common for your hair to be pulled quite roughly with the heat turned all the way up, but she was gentle and also not excessive with the heat. Only at the front and top of my hair was the heat a little more but also that is where my hair tends to be more stubborn to smooth so that was perfect. She finished off with the iron and I think it was the owner who came to check her work to make sure it was perfect. I'm very pleased with the service at Yulaine and it's also a very nice salon inside.

The process of scheduling an appointment was hassle free and I luckily got the time and date that worked the best for me. There's plenty of free parking available within the shopping plaza. Upon arrival to the salon I was immediately assisted by Greata. She did my nails and I really liked it how she was wearing scrubs, gloves, and a face mask absolutely trying to prevent any form of bacterial contamination. The place is clean and decor is pretty. Everything seems to be good in regards to their service, color selection, cleanliness, and prices. The only thing I didn't like was the fact they said minimum of $10 tip for gel manicure and regular pedicure. Tips are obviously based on your experience and should be given accordingly. I actually don't like when any business tells me how much I should tip as thats my decision for sure. I usually tip 15-20% of the actual amount based on my experience only. But otherwise overall this place is good with or without Groupon. Surely be back!

I've gotten the same lady the two times I've come here. She doesn't speak a lot of English but I dont really have a lot of questions to ask. She asked simple questions like if I want my nails round or square, is the water too hot and similar questions. I kind of like it when the women doing my nails don't really talk to me. She spent almost two hours on my nails, which is a very long time but she did an amazing job. She took very good care of my feet, especially since my toes are pretty dry from wearing sandals all the time. The place is very nice and clean. There are four massage chairs for pedicures and four chairs for manicures. The front is where people go to get their hair done while the nail section is towards the back. I really enjoy coming here, even if it's a 30 minute walk from my apartment. I would recommend people to come here.

The first time I came here, Kiki was available to cut my hair, and I've been coming back to her ever since. She does an amazing job at giving me exactly what I want, and she pays great attention to detail. She is careful to clean up around my ears and the nape of my neck, as well as the little baby hairs around my face. I have had her cut the longer top part of my hair as well, and the price is still affordable, $20. Kiki is very gentle with the razor and doesn't hurt my head with it like some other hair stylists at other salons (coughAvedacough) In addition to all this, she is always extremely nice and welcoming! Now I haven't tried their other services, like coloring or hair treatments, so I can't comment on their skill with those. But if I ever do try those services from them, I will update this review.
