I made my appointment by phone as opposed to doing so online. I like the phone option because I need to be able to add extra details verbally. I arrived for my 4PM appointment with all of my hang-ups and emotions about my kinky, knotty, 4C type hair. A stylist named Sharaya sat me at the shampoo sink, understood my issues and assured me that I could trust the process. I trusted. I was rewarded with a wonderful, deep cleansing wash. Sharaya used her time and patience to comb out all of my tangles and my requested Butterfly Braids, turned out really pretty. Since leaving MF I have received several compliments. I look forward to returning for my next braided hairstyle.

Greeted everyone and informed them that I had a hair appointment and with who. Two out of the four ladies there said "hi". Eventually I sat down waited, after a few minutes I ask "is Jael here?" One of the hair dressers mumbles "yeah" (which wasn't even Jael). I then wait another 15 minutes and still no one has came to greet me or even acknowledge that I was a paying client here for a service". Eventually I asked again "I'm sorry, who is Jael?" To which she finally opens her mouth & say "me". Keep in mind she still currently doing someone's hair". I then asked "how long will I have to wait" she replied "like 30 minutes". Just so unprofessional! I would've waited if she actually greeted me and just let me know "hey can you give me some time" that would've been no problem. I have locs so my hair style wouldn't take long at all, plus I had to go to work after which is why I booked for a specific time but just leaving me there and me having to ask repeatedly "who and where are you" is just not okay! What takes other stylist 6 hours, she does in 2. I can put my hair up in a bun and walk out of the salon with no problem. I went to Jamaica on Saturday and a twist fell out on the first day of my trip. They continued to fall out or slide down from the root every day. Today I had the displeasure of experiencing a very rude & belligerent customer while getting my hair done. A woman (who's race I will not mention) came in the salon and complained from the moment she walked in. I chalked It up to her having a bad day. She made very rude and distasteful comments towards her stylist and the stylist remained professional. She was then given a new stylist and complained about the stylist not knowing how to do "straight Japanese hair because this is not a Japanese salon". She then began to made very insensitive comments about African Americans and black owned businesses. As an African American I was highly offended and mortified that someone would behave in this manner. Although she behaved the way she did, the stylists and owner remained very professional and did not stoop down to her level. When It came time to pay for the service she received she complained about the price (that she was quoted online when she made the appointment and in person when she walked in). She then refused to pay for the service she received which led to the owner to threaten to call the police. The woman became very belligerent as she was asked to leave and shouted many racist slurs on her way out of the door as myself and other salon customers were in shock. Safe to say after taking a brief breather, the owner finished my hair and SLAYED as she always does. I commend her for remaining cool and collected in a very negative situation.
