I hired Paloma's Landscaping to do basic clean-trimming in my yard. Owner, Javi, said it would take a day and cost $2,000. It was very expensive , but I agreed for the days work. They didn't finish, so they had to come back. Javi changed me $4,000! even though the original estimate was $2,000. Javi gave a price of $55 for bi-monthly lawn service. They NEVER showed up! After almost two months I get a bill from Javi for $100. I told him no one showed up to do the work. He became VERY threatening on the phone. He sent a picture of my house. He started harassing me!!! My project was a relatively simple but not necessarily a desirable one. I needed the drip system replaced in my front yard even though my valve system and controller were fine. Miguel was only concerned about doing the job right with no hesitation re the basic nature of the labor-intensive job. He and his team are hard working and efficient while doing the job right. I was very pleased with Miguel and his team and I will use them again for my backyard as soon as my 5 month old golden retriever outgrows chewing on the irrigation system. Two weeks ago, Miguel took a $1000 deposit on a $12000 job. I was told they would start the next Monday. Then, they would start the next Wednesday or Thursday. Two men showed up Thursday, dug up the existing patio, dug holes around the exposed area, and left. No word or response to requests from the contracto since. He was recommended by Home Advisor now owned by Angi but it is impossible to get in touch with Home Advisor Customer Service and this contractor was never on Agni's list of providers so they won't help. Do not contract with this company unless you want to give money away. read more

Palomar landscaping employee was driving a truck this morning with a trailer on monument blvd and almost killed some people when the driver ran a red light after it had been red for a couple of seconds. Very dangerous behavior. Their company almost had a serious lawsuit on their hands. Pick a different company to do business with. read more

We were in need of a new side yard fence. The recent winds and weather had finally knocked some sections down. We had used Miguel, and Palomas several years ago for help in our back yard. We reached out and he arranged for his crew to come out and tear down the old fence including digging out the many, many years of cement supports from prior fences. We wanted to have a sturdy fence that we did not have to worry about, and that may out live us. They put up an amazing fence with privacy and finished with lattice top. They built a really nice new gate and finished the top with a custom design piece that is like nothing we could have imagined. The workers were courteous, and cleaned up everything before they left every day. The cost was within our budget. I posted a job and Miguel was quick to respond. He came over and gave me an estimate. Once I decided, he immediately checked his schedule and agreed on a start date. The price was reasonable. Once the project started, the crew checked in with me to make sure that they understood the project. They were very hardworking, kind, and professional. I am very happy with the garden/landscaping work. I had talked to another pro and they seemed very nice, but when it came down, they failed to contact, did not follow up with estimate or call me and they were rated 5 stars, not what I expected. Miguel and his crew replaced our 30 year old drainage system which included replacing a French drain and existing drainage pipes and adding new drainage. Additionally, since everything was torn up they replaced a retaining wall and fixed our gate (we didn't even need to ask them to do that). His price for everything was very fair. The crew was great and were excellent problem solvers. Miguel was very responsive to any questions we had. The yard was left cleaner than when the work was started. I called Miguel after he had been recommended by a coworker. I had been calling around for a gardener and NO ONE was calling me back. Thankfully, Miguel was very prompt about responding. That's where the good news ends. We made an appointment to estimate a clean-up and maintenance - which he rescheduled. When he gave me a quote, it was $600 for a clean up!! Mind you, my front AND backyard have fake grass so there is NO MOWING involved. All there is to do is prune bushes, trim trees and pull weeds (not big ones) that cover about 1000-1500 sq ft (front AND backyard). Either my trees/bushes/weeds are super magic rare ones that need extra special attention or I'm getting ripped off. I paid anyways because I needed this clean up done like..YESTERDAY. They did fine - nothing spectacular - just a basic trim and weed clean up. I figured the estimate for maintenance was reasonable and brushed off the $600 clean up in light of the rather low cost of maintenance ($45/month). Unfortunately, after I sent the check for the clean up, I never heard from Miguel again. I asked at least 3 times via phone or e-mail when he would be coming monthly for maintenance. Each time I got "I'll let you know". It's been a month. Forget this "business"! At least TELL ME THE TRUTH. If you don't want my money, tell me so. Miguel and his entire team removed all the ivy from our front yard ( a steep hill) and instead built a low decorative retaining wall, with Pygmy palms and cordylines with stones and minimal light effects along the street edge, and a variety of trees and plants with new drip irrigation and decorative lighting on the front and side hills. The rebuilt our mailbox to match the wall and our home, and replaced the grass and flower bed near our front door. They even patched some of our brickwork in our walkway, and moved some plants around after planting, because we asked them to. They were really great about it - we felt bad asking but Miguel and his team were so relaxed about it. It was great. Cost was the same as other estimates, not higher, but I could sense that we'd get great value for our money / the reviews online were great but the best testament and the reason we ultimately went with Palomas was that my husband and I noticed their logo on trucks that had done beautiful landscape work on a home that we walked by on our daily walks. Miguel came and did a job for my dad, at first he was charging him $14,000! to take out some bushes and put in brick floors. Instead my dad just decided to have them put in new grass, Miguel then said that one side of the house didn't need new grass, however he still didn't lower the cost when technically he would be doing less work. He then told my dad instead he would put some plants and bark to make it look nicer, it's been about a month and he never returned to finish the job.
