Beer, wine and pizza...what's not to love about The Growler Exchange?…read more For those of you who have never been to this amazing business before, The Growler Exchange is a tap room and restaurant which carries a huge variety of unique beers, as well as some of the most delicious pizza you've ever had in your life. I've been a regular at this restaurant for 5 years and I can tell you that quality has stayed the same throughout the years. I also appreciate that they now have a bigger variety of wines and you can also buy beer and wine to-go. If you are looking to try their amazing pizza, their most popular pie (and my husband's favorite) is their Mike's Special which is a red sauce pizza with mozzarella, pepperoni, bacon and topped with honey drizzle. However, if you prefer something spicy (like I do), I highly recommend their Spicy Meat Sweats which is also a red sauce pizza with mozzarella, garlic sausage, pepperoni, salami, bacon and topped with some very spicy chili oil. Hope everyone gets to try this amazing local business, and don't forget to bring your growler with you! PSA for the parents: They do welcome kids, and they even have a changing station in the women's bathroom.

Strolling through the renovated Broadway area, we came across Idle Beer Hall & Brewery and glad we…read moredid. I had heard about this place but didn't know exactly where it was located. It is next to the Make Ready food hall and makes for a perfect 1 - 2 punch of activity. We arrived right at the tail end of Happy hour, so I order an Old Fashioned and found a spot at their outdoor patio. The patio is pet friendly and they do have live music. My drink was made well and made for a nice evening as the weather outside was nice and the live one-man band added some nice ambience. I can see why downtown residents would like to hang out in this area. Overall, I really liked the vibe of this laid-back icehouse and look forward to coming back to experience more.

The interior of Idle is very nicely designed with good branding and a great setting to hang out. It's spacious so it never feels overly crowded. We talked to one of the bartenders once who told us they are connected to Golden Gopher in LA, which we had been to in downtown LA. They always have sports on their large TVs. You can also order food from Make Ready food hall and eat there which is pretty amazing. They have some snacks you can order as well and once I went when they had a taco vendor as a pop up. So cute! Family friendly and they have a large outdoor space where kids can run around. They do have a cut off time when they become 21 and up. Parking is either on the street or a surface lot close by.

I genuinely thought this was going to be a sports bar vibe, and I was pleasantly surprised to find…read morethat it was a Biergarten and almost pub vibe I was meeting a friend for happy hour and some bites, and we landed on the spot. I will say the GPS got a little confused in the route for some reason and I nearly missed an exit and even the entrance (there was some construction going on) There is plenty of parking, but the parking lot was pretty full. You walk up and either walk through the courtyard style Biergarten with tables or you can go inside. It was an unseasonably nice day, so, we opted to sit outside There is a QR code to view the menus. There are entrees and plenty of apps/sharables. There is also a very extensive beer menu. Make no mistake, this is their bread and butter. They boast an imprecise "99 beers on tap." There's local brews, light and dark beers, hoppy, Belgium style, German style, wheat, etc etc etc. if that's not your speed there are cocktails and non-alcoholic options. Our server was fantastic. She was very kind and patient with us. We were constantly checked in on, but not in a hovering way or a pressure to leave. Our food and drinks always came out in a timely manner. She made us feel well taken care of The drinks hit the spot, and the food was tasty. It was definitely a chill vibe/hang. We were there for hours just catching up, and we saw other happy hours, birthday parties, dates, bachelorette parties, etc Some tips: I did order a couple beers that they were temporarily out of, but there are so many beers to pivot to. Also, our server was incredibly helpful in offering other suggestions, similar suggestions, and asking the right questions to help land in the next alternative They are not open Mondays, and they're only open until 11pm Tuesday-Thursday (and Sunday). Friday and Saturday they're open til 1am. Also, on Saturdays and Sunday's they offer brunch from 11am-3pm) The Reuben was surprisingly delicious Cheers!!
