For those of you who have never been to this amazing business before, The Growler Exchange is a tap room and restaurant which carries a huge variety of unique beers, as well as some of the most delicious pizza you've ever had in your life. I've been a regular at this restaurant for 5 years and I can tell you that quality has stayed the same throughout the years. I also appreciate that they now have a bigger variety of wines and you can also buy beer and wine to-go. If you are looking to try their amazing pizza, their most popular pie (and my husband's favorite) is their Mike's Special which is a red sauce pizza with mozzarella, pepperoni, bacon and topped with honey drizzle. However, if you prefer something spicy (like I do), I highly recommend their Spicy Meat Sweats which is also a red sauce pizza with mozzarella, garlic sausage, pepperoni, salami, bacon and topped with some very spicy chili oil. We went to this bar on the Friday of Easter weekend, around 6-7pm, and it was super quiet. The whole place was empty, except for the bartender and BOH guy. We mentioned we were just going to snack on one of their appetizers and read for a bit, so the bartender decided it would be fun/helpful to switch up the music to some instrumental anime music instead of a sport channel for background ambience. Super chill place, good vibes, and delicious appetizer. Lots of fun brews on tap to choose from, as well, with most of them being from Texas. We love hanging out at this place! Joey, the owner, is so friendly and goes out of his way to make sure his customers are happy and having a good time. You definitely have to come open minded to try beer that you've never had before! They definitely have some interesting selections. (Interesting in a good way!!) This was one of my favorite stops during our beer adventures in San Antonio. They offer 38 different beers on tap and have a decent menu that mainly includes pizza. Really nice experience when I go. Never have a bad time. The environment is super chill. They are a beer focused station so you will find a variety of beers on taps. For you cider lovers unfortunately they only have 2 usually on tap. They do have wine but do nit expect the wine to be from vineyards of France. Had late night munchies and wanted pizza, but something I hadn't had before. Ordered the pepperoni and margherita pizzas, each 10-inch. They were ordered on Door Dash and by the time the driver got here they were cold. Nonetheless, they were both good and just the right size to sate my munchies. I especially liked the margherita, the sauce and tomatoes were so sweet and flavorful. The crust tasted like a fluffy tortilla, I usually don't eat edges, but I liked the crust so I ate all of it. Hands down one of my favorite places down broadway!!! It has so many good things! A rotating list of 30+ delicious draft beers. I almost always try something different when I come here, even though I occasionally fall back on some old favorites. They also have a nice little wine collection. We've ordered a bottle before and were pleasantly surprised on how good it was. Lots of fun artisan pizzas with different topping combinations. They only have one pre-made vegetarian option, but we're always able to sub out the meat toppings for veggie toppings on their other pizzas. If you need something to do while you're hanging out drinking draft beer, they have plenty of tvs that are always showing sports games. There is a nice little collection of board games, as well. We always default to playing connect four or mancala. And occasionally we bring in our own games to play. Lastly, there is always great service! I use the Digital Pour app, so I know what they have on draft and how much. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and can help you make a selection. Our brewer friends suggested this place in San Antonio in an in- process gentrifying neighborhood. Mainly a tap house that offers pizza. Place is tiny, small seating in and out, no place to park more than a small car, limited parking. They share a wall with a tiny "Subway". On draft selection from various breweries around the county, rotating taps, almost 30% are IPAs of some variety, can selections in the coolers too. Something for everyone . We tried some draft brews from companies we'll never see in stores, and a Best Maid Spicy Pickle seasonal made in Ft. Worth that I was dying to try at SIX BUCKS A CAN... If I wasn't looking for it, I would have walked on by at that price as it's a bit overpriced. NOTE: No tasting flights offered, just half pours. Seemed odd with 34 selections on tap.. It was the first thing that spoiled the visit for us. Let's talk pizza.. seems a lot of bitchin' over it in other reviews.. When we went, they had cut their normal menu selections by 70% for their Anniversary so not much to try. Yes, they are 10", yes they are small. Yes, they are made to order. Yes, the specialties we tried were tasty. Yes, they are pricy for what you get both in size and quality of the pizza. Would I go here to eat and have beer? No..
