My first time dining here with my son last week and I have to say it was awesome! It's a quaint, clean restaurant, the owners were both there and very attentive. I had a reuben and it was by far the very best reuben I've had in I can't even remember how long. Very tasty!!! I opted for a salad with it and it was fresh and quite generous. The server was a sweet young girl, friendly but not overkill. She mentioned she's a vegetarian when I was raving about my reuben. I felt a little awkward. lol Anyway, I give them 5 stars. This is a very simple joint, and it's not that big. Everyone knows each other and the staff is very friendly. The food came out pretty quick, as there were only 8 people in the place, including the help. My skillet was very good. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. My friend had a couple of eggs and he said they hit the spot. It is not a destination point by any means. But if your in the area and want a clean place to eat a decent meal. These places are almost non existent in the city (even though this is not the city) so I was thrilled to find it. $30 for three adults & a baby. And we left super full! The bathrooms in this place are disgusting. There are different color streaks on the walls that are from who know what. I can't even imagine how some of that stuff ended up on the walls and ceiling. First time my husband I went here for breakfast was today. We both had omelets and I have to say that they were soooo good. Fresh ingredients, lots of cheese, huge portions and reasonably priced. Average restaurants give away free food for returning customers to keep them coming. However At Incredible restaurants like the Palos Diner you feel like paying extra and giving back to them more because of the love and comfort they invite you in with. The food is absolutely phenomenal and the prices are very reasonable. You get a big bang for your buck here at the diner. read more

They have a really diverse menu so everybody can find something they want. It is cheap too, the warp I had was $6.50 and included a side and drink. My brother and I routinely go out to breakfast every weekend as a quest to find the perfect skirt steak an eggs. Yeaaaaah, that would be great; NOT! The steaks were tough and grey on the outside; frozen on the inside; Microwave much? When we sent the steaks back; we were told we are being picky and they charged for the eggs and potatoes rather than apologizing and picking up at least one of the breakfasts. This was not the first visit but will be the last after the poor quality of service and food. This coming from the management, as well? Bad move. Used to be a big fan of the place. After a few bad visits, I've decided not to come here again. Food is average, some foods a hit, some a miss. However, the staff is rude. rude owner, ordered a simple cheeseburger medium, came back well done, next burger was raw, then they took it back put it on the grill and brought the same burger back on the same sliced in half bun covered in grease, and said i hope u like this one, really?and the owner had the nerve to say that i was too picky,, what nerve, this isn't the way to treat your customers, i said i won't be coming back, she replied Don't,,all they had to do was put the recooked burger on a fresh 10cent bun,i would have been fine with that,,they lost a good regular customer, cheap Greek owner, terrible attitudes,,not to mention i said that they changed there fries from battered to plain,the waitress said you're the first one to complain, i was just stating a fact read more

I love this place! It's family owned, very friendly, the food is great and the prices are cheap........you definitely get more bang for your buck. I'm all for local restaurants making it. We need these small places or we fall into the trap of the big box joints. This place is close by, so it's easy for me to stop in for breakfast. The food is your basic breakfast fare with the lunch & semi dinner items also available. Look, my deal is not about the food. It's all cookie cutter food. My issue is the servers. There's not one happy person in the place, When you're out for breakfast at 7 or 8am, I don't need someone telling me about there baby being addicted to crack because they made bad choices, I just want a smiling, accommodating server. Mind you I didn't get the crack story here, it's the polar opposite. A server will come up to the table while I'm reading the menu, and not even introduce themselves. Just wait for me to acknowledge them & then it's "Do you know what you want to order?" Not even a good morning, I'm Jodie, I'll be your server today". Nothing! I suppose I'm over reacting, but isn't the restaurant business a service industry? If you're not going to speak, and all you're going to do is bring food to my table, then why expect a tip? Can't an owner or manager get servers to at least follow some basic restaurant rules? Service that sells? Even if the owner were to read this review, my guess is that it wouldn't make a difference.
