I wanted to find somewhere close and had same day availability since our usual groomer was booked up so I called them. Well, that was a GRAVE mistake and I see why they were so happy to get me in asap. First of all, the girl that answered the phone gave me some pricing "based on weight" which I totally understand. I then ask her about the discounts they showed online and she started stuttering as if she didn't really want to give it to me. Her response was "oh um yes, if you were a first time customer then i guess we would give you 10%". You knew I clearly was but moving along. I told them I wanted teddy bear cuts for my 2 mini poodles. She said they might have some matting charges and I said that's fine. I took them up there, the groomer barely examined them or talked to me before proceeding to take my dogs in the back to get started. 5 hours later, I pick them up and my dogs look NOTHING like what I asked for. I wanted to maintain length but they chopped off half on both of their bodies. I wanted a rounded teddy bear face and they SHAVED their faces. I have NEVER went to a groomer where they did something without calling me. If you're not able to do what I asked then I should have been at least notified by phone. NOT when I'm picking them up and the damage is done. On top of that, the ENTIRE cut on BOTH dogs were choppy! Not to mention they charged me $250 WITH the 10% discount. The girl also tried to charge me extra for trimming of the paws and ears. I asked isn't that included in the full groom? She said "oh yeah, let me take that off". THE WORST part?! I asked why the extra $80? She said it was because they had to detangle for an extra 15 minutes. Yes. 15 minutes. I will post the receipt. Lastly, for this price you would think that they would put a bandana or a bow on them. NOPE. They will never touch my dogs again. They do not care about the dogs and you can tell they are here just for the money. I'm sorry but I'm leaving my babies with you, I have to trust that you actually care. I went to Rocky and Maggie's pet boutique yesterday to get wagwellies dog shoes. I am so happy that they have this so that I can get the right size for my pup. I have not been to the store for a long time since my older dog passed away. The store is consistently bright and clean. There are more shelves and items. On this visit, I was crunched for time and the lady at store was very patient and helpful! She was knowledgeable about the item I was looking for and finding the right size. The customer service is terrible. I will never give this place my business again. Update : I am at the cleaners now and they cannot find what the CS Rep alleged ... they examined the liner and and said there is no urine and more than likely this Rep was looking for a reason to not take the item back. The customer service rep sold me a pod and I was within the 2 week policy to return as my dogs did NOT LIKE IT. She inspected it and then tells me they peed in it and REFUSED the return. She swore she could smell the urine and refused to do anything else and told me to donate it. I could not smell ANYTHING and I couldn't see this "urine." Another Rep decides to lecture me on deceit and it took everything out of me to not tell her about herself. If I were trying to deceive you, why would I have returned it with urine knowing it would be inspected?! Then she made a reference that I wouldn't do this if I were returning clothes. The Female Groomer Squeezed my Fur'Baby in. I was very worried because Jojo had such a bad experience at PetSmart I didn't know what to expect when I lived her up. She was Soooooo happy and not Stressed. Her Cut was perfection. If there was one thing that needed to be Changed. It would be the Kenneling. I know it's not cost efficient to build little rooms with Sofas. For Rescued dogs Kennels can trigger fear. That was the only thing I didn't like. Thank You for knowing So kind. We LOVE Rocky and Maggie's... I cannot put into words how grateful we are to have found them! Our 8 yr old shihtzu, Reggie, has epilepsy and needs so much TLC. Especially at the groomer. We have been trusting Rocky and Maggie's since 2016 with our boy. Since day one, when they found out about his seizures they have gone above and beyond to make him safe and comfortable (and ease my mind as well)... they always make sure he has a slot that allows for adequate time, keep his groomer (Erin) as consistent as possible, dont ever blow dry and let him air dry due to stress, and always ask about the frequency and duration of his last seizure... When he strolls in they always know him by name, and I honestly think that's for all the dogs they see and not just mine. Here is another reason we LOVE them... recently we have added a Newfoundland puppy to our family. He is 60lbs and 18 weeks old. Today was his first grooming session after a weekend at the farm, covered in slobber, dirt, and sticker burs. We are working on manners, but let's be honest- his are very minimal and he has so much energy. We dropped him off at 8am and he was there until almost 2pm. He is a handful of a BIG baby... the sweet manager had to help Erin, the groomer, because he was being stubborn. I know how difficult Sherman can be, but he is just 18 weeks. When we picked him up we were a nervous wreck that he had been awful and a nightmare for them. But NOPE! Not saying he wasnt awful, but they were so kind and sweet.. and PATIENT! Erin even leaned in for some kisses and an ear scratch to say goodbye. I know this is an extremely long review, and if you've kept up so far... This place is not only stocked with the highest quality pet food & products, but has the most knowledgeable and caring staff I've ever met. From the way my furry friend gets so excited everytime we get to the front door, I know that even when I leave him for grooming, he is treated so well that he loves going there. Everyone there knows the products well and what each type of dog needs at what stage in their life, I've been so lucky to have gone in there when I first adopted my rescue. I've been to other pet stores, you'll find them everywhere, alot that are less expensive as well. You get what you pay for. Don't do your pet a disservice. I went here bc I saw it on the show of course....lol. Not only do I like the show, but I also am a animal lover! The cool thing about this pet store is I saw a lot of stuff that you don't see at the big places. To test the prices out I asked how much the furrator is(which is a pretty expensive brush) I hope I spelled it right. Lol . Anyways it was 20$ less then I bought mine for!!!!! That's AWESOME!!!! I ended up buying a really nice collar for my dog, that I'm sure he'll like...By the way Jen's mom helped me with the collar!!! I am extremely disappointed by the grooming services my dog received at Rocky & Maggie's. After reading all the rave reviews about the store, I decided to take my pup for grooming at Rocky & Maggie's since I was in Houston that day. We got the Bubbles and Scissors Package (~$70) and an additional Dental Package (~$20 - waste of money, read below). With tax, this came out to be more than $95 in all, which is a big price increase from typical grooming services offered at other pet salons (I usually spend $65 at a DFW location, and had no problems whatsoever). I thought that since this place had good reviews, why not splurge a bit to get my pup the best? What a big mistake I have just made. I picked up my dog 1.5 hours later, and the groomer said she did really well, but her ear did get a little sore after the ear plucking, which he said "was normal". Upon arriving home, my pup rushed straight into her cage, which was unusual of her. I beckoned her to come out and examined her. Here is what I found (pictures below): 1.) Razor burn/nick on her belly area 2.) Painful looking SCAB in her ear My poor pup flinched and shook her head every time my hands went near her ears. I contacted Rocky and Maggie's right away and they told me to just wait 2 days until the swelling went down. They didn't offer any sort of apology for the groomer's mistake, and didn't check up on me on Friday to see if my pup was still okay. What made me angry was that no mention of the BLEEDING sore was made when I picked my dog up. I know it is normal that after ear plucking, a dog's ears might experience some inflammation, but definitely not a SCAB from an OPEN WOUND. I took my pup to the vet and my vet confirmed that the wound was from the groomer's HEMOSTAT, which was further aggravated when my pup scratched it with her paw. Also, she checked her teeth and noticed some plaque. Granted, I know the dental package cannot get rid of the plaque, but I didn't notice a change in my dog's breath at all, which might mean they did not give her a tooth brushin' or a "breath spray" as they had advertised. So, in total, the grooming PLUS my vet's fees, totaled out to be $135 in all. Not only did my pup receive a subpar grooming experience at Rocky & Maggie's, she was shivering in fear and was not herself at all for the next WEEK. She hid in her cage, refused to eat, and flinched every time I got close to her ears. I also did not receive a follow-up from Rocky and Maggie's after voicing out my concerns, and the groomer failed to mention any wounds that have occurred as a result of his ineptitude. Thanks, but I would rather stick with my $65 grooming in the DFW area with a puppy that is not scared, has no wounds in her ears, and no razor burns. Seriously, my pup has NEVER once received a razor burn/nicks from a grooming salon until Rocky and Maggie's. She had been groomed at least 6 times before coming to Rocky and Maggie's. Deeply disappointed. Would not return. I urge you to not use their grooming services if you want the best for your dogs. read more

Very cool pet boutique, fits right in with Rice Village. Staff was very nice, friendly and they loved on my dog. They had a nice selection of dog clothes if that's your thing. I HAD to check this place out - being a fan of the show and being in the area. As other reviews have mentioned, all of the employees were extremely nice and helpful. Came here looking for treats for my puppy and it was great to see that prices are reasonable and most importantly grain-free and organic. Because this was my first time coming here/ using their product I only purchased something small - alligator treat. According to the worker it's sweet potato flavor and is meant to be given after meals, to help with bad breath. My dog loved it and was good for his stomach - sensitive digestive system. As far as whether it helped with breath I didn't notice a big difference, but at least it kept him busy and happy. read more

Just ok. I LOVE my 3 dogs and love to purchase little things for them. They love soft comfy beds and we are always looking for good rain jackets for one of them since she goes on walks every night. We stopped in here while shopping in the Village. The store was very dark. I don't know if that's normally how it is or if only some of the lights were on. It didn't feel very inviting or maybe that was the salesperson? The cashier/salesperson behind the counter wasn't rude, but she wasn't inviting. We spent some time wandering around looking for little gifts for my dogs. The items we looked at were quite expensive compared to other stores I've shopped in. I ended up purchasing a cute little pink rain jacket for my dog. It isn't perfect but honestly, I didn't want to return it because I didn't want to deal with the salesperson. This wasn't an awful experience, but it wasn't an experience that made me want to come back to this store. It was very 3 star. Cute stuff but overpriced. Very mediocre sales staff. Staff makes or breaks a place and the staff here needs to be reinvigorated. read more

This review is specifically for Erin. She has groomed my puppy several times now, and she gave him his first haircut ever. She is extremely kind to my puppy and has really been patient in getting him used to the whole process, including not being scared of the dryer. She also gives great cuts! My puppy is extremely active and never sits still, and she has managed to make him look so cute and he has never had any cuts or injuries. Highly recommend for her compassion and skill. The store is really nice. I love the clean and bright facilities and the friendly staff. However, if Erin went somewhere else, I would take my pup to her there without hesitation :) read more

Great groomers, great treatment for my dog. Doodle owners be sure to ask which package you are getting. I wasn't aware that hand scissoring was being added to my doodles grooming when I hadn't requested it. I was absolutely delighted with the result and will request it in the future. It's an extra $60 added to the price of the groom, so you can decide for yourself if you'd like it. Management was very receptive to my request to clarify packaging during future visits which I really appreciated. Groomers will not de-matte sensitive areas so be sure to bring them in as brushed out as possible or they will shave the area. Great accessories for your dogs as well! read more

We've been coming to Rocky & Maggie's for years and their service and quality has not only improved, it's one of the best in Houston. My dogs can be a bit finicky with new people and baths but they have warmed up to the groomers here and I trust that they'll do a great job every time I bring them in. They are also incredibly helpful in fitting us in to their busy schedule when I call last minute or give me plenty of other options to bring them in next. I also love to see how he store has expanded to their baked treats, dog toys and food and now dog walking! Also, love the new location! We came in during a late afternoon visit and check out what they had to offer. From pet clothing and bling collars to food and other pet essentials--this business covers the basics and then some. Pet grooming is also available. We did pick up some cookies in the shape of "Rocky & Maggie." In many ways, Rocky & Maggie's reminded me of our old pet store back home in California. We would always stop in to buy some baked treats for our pooch. Their caricature-like cookies were a nice touch; although it would be great to see more baked goodies. I hope that this might be the case in future. We had the opportunity to meet Judy Arnold, Jen's mother. She was very sweet and appreciative of our patronage. Her sincerity showed the true heart of all involved in this business. We plan to stop in again when we're in the area! The store could not have been CUTER and full of adorable pet items and wonderful treats. The sales person was less than delightful and extremely judgmental. When we told her what we feed our dog her comment was, "the do not eat that in the wild." My children even commented on how rude she was. It was beyond disappointing. read more

I have tried several different grooming places before finally settling on Rocky and Maggies. First of all, one of the things I really like is that I can schedule an appointment at the time of the grooming. I don't have to drop of my pup at 8am and have her sit in a kennel with dozens of barking dogs all day long until they get to her. Instead, I can schedule a time in the day that is convenient for me like 2pm and that is when she will be groomed. It usually takes them 45minutes to an hour to do a full groom on her and then they call and I pick her up. Also, I like that the grooming area is in a glass-walled area so you can see them grooming your dog the entire time. It's not a mystery as to what happens once you hand over your dog and they go in the back with them. It makes me feel better knowing that I can see that they are treating her gently. My little dog is a 4.5lbs. Maltese and she can't be handled roughly and some groomers are not gentle because they can get impatient with the dogs. So, it really gives me a sense of ease knowing I can see her as well as other clients that come in, too. The staff is always very accommodating and friendly, too. They always tell me about specials they are running. There are one or two days a week when grooming is half-price and those are the days that I try to go. They have a great selection of pet clothes, too. Some really adorable stuff. They have some unique clothes at an affordable price and then some higher-end clothing that runs around the $100 mark but it is pretty fancy stuff. People often ask me where my dog Violet goes to get groomed and I always tell them about Rocky and Maggies. Of all the places I have been, I have been the happiest by far with them and have continued to use them for the past couple of years. read more

I work right up the street, I didn't realize how close this little pet store is! I was so excited to hop in and get my fur children some chew toys on Sunday. There was a nice selection of food, collars, beds and grooming supplies. I loved the birthday cookies! Will have to come back when it is my pups special day! I have been going here for over a year and have spent thousands of dollars. Recently my groomer left and a new one groomed my Havanese. I really liked that My baby wasn't there for 6 hours; she was usually there no more than 3. My husband said the same thing he has said every time when he dropped her off: puppy cut, short in face and an inch or so off the body. When I arrived, my dog was shaved and the groomer forgot to trim the hair on the paws so she had to come back. I tried to be nice since I really like this place and I have always liked Lonnie. I even tipped the groomer $20 after paying $80ish dollars. When I got home I noticed my dogs vagina was red and burned and her shave was uneven. It was really bad. She was also acting very odd. Lonnnie said she would talk to owner since she would be in that day and after not hearing anything I took it upon myself to call back. I was appalled to call back and find out that the owner and her had blamed my husband bc the groomer said she did what he asked for. Yea, He really asked for my beautiful havanese to be unevenly shaved and burned. I might as well have done it myself! IF THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR LOYAL CUSTOMERS then i can only imagine how they treat new ones. Lonnie is rude and will blame you for any issues and is unwilling to help. She even tried to go as far to make it seem that I insinuated that the groomers facial deformity Had something to do with their inability to groom. Wow! I've been taking my dog to get groomed here on and off since I got him which has been almost 2 years ago. I really wanted to like this place and make it his normal place to get groomed since it is conveniently located close to home. However, the quality of the groom just really didn't justify the price. Anyhow, I took him last week to get groomed Bc it was convenient and couldn't get in at his usual place. After he was picked up, I noticed that he had a scrap underneath his eye beneath the hair on his face. When he was picked up, the groomer said he was a good boy (he usually is) and everything went fine. I called to ask about it and no one returned my call. I called again and spoke with the manager and she said she would talk to the groomer and get back to me the following day. I still haven't heard from her and its been more than a couple of days. I understand that nicks and scraps can happened during grooming, but a heads up before picking up my dog would be nice. I won't be taking my doggy back. I gave another star Bc staff is generally nice but his latest grooming just really rubbed me the wrong way. read more

First time here. Clean, nice little shop. Friendly lady working the desk. So was very engaged with us as we were checking out (even while just walking through the store she greeted us with a smile, hi and asked if we needed anything in particular or if we needed help) Didn't have our pooch with us as we were on a mission for birthday gift shopping around town. We were there to witness a little happy pooch whom just received a bath and a hair cut. He/she was so very soft, smelled good and you could tell it was very confident in its new do. Wonderful place! Staff is exceedingly friendly. Told them I need something to keep my super active puppy busy and they were on it. Picked up a Nina Ottosson puzzle that has kept my little one entertained the whole day. They have a lot of high quality toys, treats, and food. They offer puppy packages for grooming and I will say that the people who work here really look like they love dogs. One of the groomers was getting lots of kisses from a dog she groomed that looked super happy with his new haircut. Will be back! read more
