Andy did a fabulous, calm cut on my dry hair, curl by curl. It took an hour and 20 minutes. I also received a step by step education on the process, including point by point information about my hair that not one stylist has ever mentioned before. I was so excited to get a " Ouidad " haircut by an expert in curly hair. I explained to her everything I didn't like about my current haircut. She merely trimmed it in the exact pattern it was. She asked me to show her picture of what I wanted? From everything I understand about any curly haircut, whether it's a Deva cut or Ouidad cut. It's supposed to be custom for your specific curl pattern. Both cuts are supposed to focus on debulking the hair and give a nice shape and layers that allow the curl to lay nicely. I have had a Deva cut before that I was very happy with. I know what it should be cuAfter living with this cut for a couple of weeks I realize I spent over $150 bucks on a trim I could have just had done at a Supercuts for $8. She did say to come in for a touch up. The thing is that it's not even close to the haircut I paid for. I don't trust her to do anything else. So I have wasted 150 dollars including a 20+ dollar tip! read more

Can't speak to anything related to a haircut because I never made it that far. Rating is for the booking experience. I booked an appt. online as a new client over a month ago and was assigned to Andy. Today I called a few hours before appt. to confirm and was told that they tried to call me. I never received a call or email. The phone number the receptionist read back to me wasn't mine, but she insisted that was the number I had used to make the appointment. Then I was told the stylist I waited a month to see wasn't available, but I could see a Level 1 stylist instead...next week. Thanks, but no thanks. To all my WOC/POC, I want to let you know something I wish I had realized sooner: The practice of paying more for a decent haircut just because your hair is curly/kinky/not straight is absolutely racist. I paid triple digits just to not like my hair and I ended up cutting it myself. They charged me extra just for me to dislike my haircut, because they hardly bothered communicating with me. I truly don't believe they cared about my locks when they cut my hair, they just cared about the money. Shop elsewhere -- where the prices aren't ridiculous and the people truly care. read more

I've never had anything done with my hair at Panache, but I had been looking for a good place to get settled for my nails. I went in one afternoon, Debi did my nails, did an excellent job and I was happy! We chatted, she was done in half an hour and I couldn't wait to come back next time. Everyone wants to be a regular, right? Well, unfortunately, I came back a second time, and another girl did my nails. She was unsure, quiet and very tired looking. I felt bad making her work! My nails were not nearly as nice as the first time. Uh oh. I came back a third time, after checking that Debi would be in. She was, and had literally no idea who I was -- it was only a month and a half later. She rushed my nails and I left with sore cuticles. Not to mention the price is a bit high. Andi is a curly hair master! There are a variety of techniques for cutting and styling curly hair and she seems to have a mastery of each of them. I want a stylist to make my coarse, curly hair look good regardless of the technique. And she does this expertly. I'd imagine that if you prefer a pure Deva, Ouidad or another curly technique she would accommodate your request if you make that clear to her in the beginning. I went to Panache because I'd read that they have stylists trained in both the Ouidad and the Devacurl cutting methods for curly hair. I called to make an appointment with a stylist and was scheduled with Emma, who was trained in both (brilliant, because I didn't know which cutting method would work for my hair). I had told Emma that getting a haircut for me was always very stressful -- not as stressful as going to the dentist, but almost (those with curly hair know what I mean. You just never know how your hair will look after you get it cut, and for me, because the stylist never styles it as I would, I don't know if I'll like the cut until I've done it at home). She said she completely understood. After asking me what I wanted in a haircut and what I didn't like about my hair (why was I getting it cut?), she recommended the Devacurl cutting method. This meant that my hair would be cut while it was completely dry -- and each curl was handled and cut individually. There was no razor blade involved, nor did she scrape the scissors along my strands to create "layers". This process of individually cutting each curl strand took about 30-35 minutes. Along the way, she asked me about my specific styling regimen, reassuring me when the technique was good for my hair (conditioning my hair, limiting how much it's handled until dry), and suggesting alternatives when it wasn't (switch out my regular towel for a microfiber one). After the dry cut, she wet, cleansed, and conditioned my hair with Devacurl products, teaching me to apply the styling product (gel) while it was still dripping wet. Then she put me under the dryers. I've done this before and was never happy with how my hair turned out, but Emma insisted that it was necessary to see it completely dry so she could make sure it was a good cut and that I was happy with it. Overall, Emma was amazing. I have NEVER had a cut that turned out looking EVEN BETTER when I did my usual hair routine at home. I have only been "satisfied" with my hair cuts in the past. I am convinced that Devacurl cuts will be a permanent fixture of my future and will be returning to see Emma every 4-5 months to keep it up. I am grateful for Emma's skill as well as her individualized solutions to address my individual needs. She's fantastic and I recommend her to anyone who has curly hair, is stressed out about haircuts, and wants to be reassured that their hair can look amazing (even when not styled by a professional). read more

This place was a great and a convenient find! They were able to accommodate me and get me in for a hair cut almost right away. The two girls I interacted with were really nice and friendly (which is so great! I LOVE good customer service since it's so hard to find.) The one girl gave me a long but somewhat mediocre hair shampoo and massage. The 2nd girl gave me an okay haircut and a great style. Overall the atmosphere in the place was good, clean, and relaxing. I loved that they could see me in such short notice! The only reason I'm giving this a 3 is that the girl who cut my hair didn't really cut it the way I wanted it cut-- she cut it the way she wanted it cut and how she thought it would be better. I tried to tell her how I wanted it cut but she said her way was better and cut it that way. When the style fell out a couple of days later, I realized the way she cut my hair wasn't as flattering as the way I usually get it cut-- but she didn't really listen to me when I was trying to tell her I wanted it cut a certain way. So overall, a good experience, but it would have been great and even better if the hair cutter had cut my hair the way I wanted it... basically I paid a lot of money to end up with a haircut I wasn't totally happy about. Because of the nature of my naturally curly hair, I am EXTREMELY picky about my hairstylists. I have had exactly three in the past 10 years because if it is not cut properly, I will be stuck with a frizzy mop for months. My regular stylist was not available and I was in desperate need of a cut so I went in search of a DevaCurl specialist. I called Panache on a Thursday and was able to make an appointment for Saturday afternoon...I love this because I'm terrible about planning ahead so I appreciate that I could get in last minute. When I arrived at the salon, I was immediately greeted and offered a glass of water. The receptionist was very friendly and answered all of my questions about the various styling products and she also told me that Andi was a master with curly hair...I have to say that she was correct! Andi began by asking me about how I styled my hair and the type of cut I was looking for. She took her time to listen to me before she dove into the dry cut of my massive mane. I have a ton of thick hair, so it took her a good 35-40 minutes to cut it but I didn't mind that a bit because I wanted it done correctly. Andi was methodical and answered every question I had; she also took the time to explain how her cut will help enhance my curls. After the cut, color, and shampoo, she showed me the tricks and tips for styling my hair to avoid frizz and achieve the volume I always seem to be lacking at the crown of my head. I purposely waited a week or two before submitting my review because I wanted to see if I could follow Andi's tips and I must say that I am thrilled with the results. My co-workers immediately noticed the difference in my hair and I truly appreciate Andi's patience and expertise. I will absolutely be a return client! read more

I've been to panache three times.the last time was 3 months ago, to let my curls grow out to a hairstyle I wanted. Andj is very quiet and asks one question. "What are we doing today?" I showed her the same photo of the haircut I wanted and she agreed it was good for my very curly hair. Today's visit was the same as the first two. She looked at the photo for a few seconds. When the cut was not looking like what I wanted I told her what I wanted and asked if she wanted to see the photo again. She declined and started cutting away. My hair looks nothing like the photo. Too short, no style, cutting off most of my curls and is not shaped anything like the photo. She did not listen to what I wanted. I will not return. read more

Great salon. Very clean and modern. Pricing is comparable to other salons. Nice people. Convenient location. They got me in immediately. Best of all they use organic coloring. No foul odors and no need to worry about chemicals poisoning you. The color left my hair soft and shiny and it covered my gray. I wouldn't use any other product now. Have had my hair cut, colored and styled in Panache for the past 8 years, Andy, Debbie, Emma and Ally are all wonderful stylists and colorists. I get a straightening treatment once a year, color once a month and highlights/low lights whenever the mood takes me! I could not recommend Panache more strongly I have been to all the others in Tucson and Phoenix and have never been able to combat my strong Irish roots and red hair until Andy put together a formula that works so well it gives a very natural blonde color to my hair. I have blonde hair and it's always hard to go to someone new to get highlights. It's so easy to do a bad job. I have been going here for over a year now and I trust Emma with my life! and my hair. She is great at both cutting and coloring. I've had a couple of manis and pedis here too and they were fantastic. Debbie is the nail tech (she also does hair) and she does everything. I've been into OPI colorgels for a while now and she does an amazing French manicure one. While not the cheapest, it's also not the most expensive salon I've been to before and their quality of work is worth every penny! read more

Had the worst service here. I also work in the service industry and if I treated my customers like that I would feel ashamed! I went there my second time to get my hair colored with no hair cut. The girl who did my hair worked nice and fast which I like but when I was sitting under the heat (or whatever they call it, dryer?) she already took her next customer!?? I thought that she probably would work on her new customer a bit and then come back to me. But she never did!! She had someone else rinse and shampoo my hair, plus I had to ask if he could please at least dry it a bit so I won't leave the salon with soggy hair!!! Because you should know that they charge $34 for a blow dry style!! What? Unbelievable! Also, the two times I called to make an appointment and asked about their hair color prices I got a different quote each time and it was always a cheaper price than what they ended up charging me.
