I have had a highlight struggle for a year now. The highlights had grown out and I didn't want to cut my hair, nor re-dye it and damage my hair. Laura said she had a solution and could match my roots. And she did! Upon leaving I felt better about my hair than I have in a year! I returned the next day to have Laura do my bridal hair! She did an amazing job and somehow hid 40 Bobby pins inside it - to hold it in place. I cannot believe she was able to do that! Magician! Camilla did my bridal make up and I loved it so much! I can't even describe how beautiful that make up was. I was devastated to wash it off. It held up through the tears of my ceremony and yet didn't require scrubbing to remove later. This beautiful salon is conveniently located at the corner of Campbell Avenue and East River. It took three different hair salons/hair stylists & six months for me to find this urban oasis & master stylist/manager, Ami. As a newcomer/Manhattanite, I was really anxious & nervous if I would be able to find an experienced AND excellent hairstylist who could also do a makeup & updo for a special occasion & with whom I would be able to develop the chemistry. I still go back to my hairdresser in Manhattan for a hair trim but Ami at Tulia does everything else-highlights, coloring, updo, makeup, glazing, consultation...the list goes on. My hair dresser in Manhattan compliments the highlights /colors of my hair every time he trims my hair & Ami compliments on my haircut, vice versa. Of course, I will trim my hair with Ami someday but I can't betray my hairdresser back home yet as he has been cutting my hair for past twenty plus years or so! The staff is excellent. They give me a reminder call for all my appointments. They offer a coffee , tea, or water with a friendly smile as soon as I walk in . They remember my first name. I love this hair salon! It's the only one that I come to repeatedly. I've had two different stylists work on my hair from this salon, and both times they were amazing. The staff here are awesome. Britney did a partial baylage and cut on my hair and I love it! I haven't dyed my hair in 2 years and I felt like it was time for a change. Britney was very detail oriented and gave great advice on taking care of my hair afterwards. I was unhappy with my hair before with split ends and hair that was always tangled, and Britney did a fabulous job changing it up. I will keep coming here to get my hair styled. read more

Facial Review! I'm not a facial regular or expert, but I have to give a round of applause for my experience today with Madison at Tullia. I took advantage of the holiday sales and purchased a buy one get one gift card with the intention of taking mire steps to take care of myself in the new year. As I turned 40 recently, I want to do better things for my skin, and Madison was very helpful in giving me tip for daily care that won't overwhelm me. She created a facial regimen for me based on my skin care practices and needs. There were several steps to my facial today first which included simply making me feel relaxed and winding down from my work day. Everything was pleasant and Madison was very in tune in with how my skin might react to each step. There was one tingling mask that she used and she was prepped a little fan to help the cooling of the tingling sensation. It didn't bother me at all but I can see how some people might be bothered by the tingling. If you get a facial definitely ask for anything with the cooling wasabi mask. The refreshing feeling was totally unexpected and probably the most relaxing part of the entire facial. I was there for a little over an hour and 10 minutes, and at the $75 price tag, I would rate the cost probably at about average for a good salon facial, but the experience was definitely above average. She left it so uneven, there was a piece that was longer than the rest and I had to use a shaver to cut it off because I was on vacation and did not have scissors. There is a high turnover of staff at this salon. I've attempted to contact the owner via Instagram to see about getting staff pictures up so you are aware of your getting your hair styled by a level 1,2 or 3 stylist.... Very upsetting that it was something done to my hair by a level one. If I knew I would have used a level 2. I wanted my hair blonde and turned out caramel and gross. Went to another salon to fix and was told they missed the mark on lightening my hair and even missed the toner which would have given my hair the color it needs. Oh well. Buyer beware! read more

I absolutely love this place! I have the best hairdresser who listens to what I think I want, then just performs miracles with my hair. She gets me and I get so many compliments on my hair. She cuts it, keeps it up and gives me the trendiest colors and highlights. I also do my lashes here with Camila. She is the best! Couldn't face the world without my lashes since I don't have any and what I have are sparse and short. Does a great job and they last. They look natural and full. Love them. I've got to say I moved here from Ca less than a year ago and I've had a hard time with my beauty regimen here. Beauty is a lot more expensive here and hard to find. I decided to make an appointment for my girlfriend to get her hair colored black. She had it done professionally a long time ago and kept redoing it the same. Well the time had come to get it turned back to black and kind of restart if you will. I thought I would send her here to get it done in a nice salon. I asked when I made the appointment about how much it should be. After a few questions they said roughly $150. I thought that was a pretty good deal. The day of the appointment came and she went in alone so this is her story of how the appointment went. They sat in the chair while the level 2 stylist talked with her and looked at her hair. After the consult he said it would be $140. He said they would need to do a double color to make it perfect but that the $140 would cover all that. She agreed and they got started. The appointment went well, no issues at all, and her hair looked great! Then she went up to pay and the female at the front said, "ok that will be $220." She said that she agreed to a different price of $140. She tried to explain that it was for a "double color". My girlfriend then explained yes, that's what he said also at $140. She walked to the back to talk to the stylist and then came back and reluctantly agreed to the $140. Now if they had quoted the $220 in the beginning then I can understand. You do not bait and switch the person after a service has been done and expect them to pay. This is a more expensive salon I get that, but that is highly unprofessional. Like I said the hair does look great, but we wont be back in fear of getting switched like this again. read more

When I first walked in, the place seemed great and the girl at the front desk was really friendly. However, I sat down to wait and heard the word "cunt" loudly said from across the room. I was startled and expected to see a crazy customer saying the word. When I looked up, I heard some more expletives, though none as bad as that first one, and saw it was one of the people working there! I later found out that this lady was the owner (I asked the girl doing my hair a little about her). I was shocked that a place with such good reviews on here would allow the owner to openly use such unprofessional language, but hey, I'm a grown woman and I can take it. What really bothered me was later on I heard this same lady yelling at one of the young girls who washes hair there. She was saying really degrading and mean things and didn't seem to care that her customers could hear it too. I saw the girl she was yelling at walk through the salon with puffy eyes from crying and she seemed totally broken and dejected. I gleaned from the girl who did my hair that this sort of thing isn't uncommon at this place and the owner often treats her younger workers with degrading and mean behavior and that gossiping behind other workers' backs there is common practice. This is a small thing, but I also smelled cigarette smoke really strongly when several of the employees walked by. It was gross and it certainly made me glad that they weren't the ones doing my hair. Now, my hair looked great and I was happy to leave a nice tip for the wonderful girl who did my hair, but I will not be returning to this place if the owner thrives off of creating a hostile environment and degrading her employees. She knows exactly what I want and helps me achieve the look I envision every single time. I have also been Ana's client in the past and she does an AMAZING job as well. I honestly want to cry every time I look at the mirror. Completely ruined my hair（texture and color）nothing like the photo I showed the LEVEL 3 stylist, I can do a better job at home by myself and don't have to spend 300 dollars and 7 hrs in this shitty salon. I asked the stylist to cut around 10cm, she ended up cutting 25cm and gave me very weird layers. I was thinking if the color didn't look good, at least I can cut it off. Now there is nothing I can do because my hair is already way too short. After I came home from the salon, i used several hair masks and oil from some of the best brands(olaplex, kiehls, aveda, oribe etc) they used to work wonderfully for my hair. However, now, NOTHING has worked for my withered grass-like hair. This is a honest review and I'm not a hard to please customer. The owner can't find me in the system is because I used a different name for the appointment. I don't want to go back there to fix anything for two reasons: 1. The stylist was very nice and patient despite of her awful skill. 2. For the experience I had, I can't trust and take a leap of faith on this salon's skill and products. So if you just want a simple blowout and curve, you can go there with no problem. But if you want to get anything else in this salon, I'd recommend you think twice and go to a different salon. read more

My old hair stylist gave me a terrible haircut and color leaving my hair lifeless and shapeless. Valentina changed all of that and saved my hair! She started my hair off with a treatment that transformed it from being lifeless to smooth and manageable. She then gave my hair a healthy haircut and shaped my layers to my face. She took her time, explained everything, and had me leaving the salon looking better than ever. What really stood out to me is that she never tried to sell me on anything nor seemed fake. A problem I face every 3 months is that my ends start to look like the bristles on a overly neglected closet broom... and every single time this happens I end up paying more than $60 pre tip for a trim. Thankfully, I have finally found a solution to both problems. $30 gets you an(intern) level haircut pre tip which is PERFECT for me. It's so hard for me to justify paying more than double that at other salons especially when I am just going in for a trim each time. Jessica did a wonderful job, and I definitely will be a repeat customer moving forward. Place was clean, and service was top notch. FYI: I believe they used to be called Style 7, back when they operated behind Sullivan's. They have now moved a few spaces over in-between Sullivan's and Starbucks. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit to Tullia yesterday! Madison did an amazing deep cleansing facial followed by microneedling. She was so thorough and explained everything so well. It was a gentle process on my skin and my face looks and feels absolutely amazing today! So grateful for her expertise! I finished my time at the salon with henna brows by Camila and can't say enough about how happy I am! I didn't even know it was a thing and feel like it's a stepping stone to microblading for me.
