I found this panadería online and decided to give it a try since it had great reviews. I bought half a dozen tamales (pollo, queso, and pork) along with pan dulce for my coworkers. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The tamales were quite dry and tasted as though they had been frozen for some time. The masa fell apart easily, and the texture was grainy. My coworkers ended up not eating them. I called today to share my feedback, hoping the business would appreciate knowing. Unfortunately, the lady who answered was not friendly and made me feel as though I was not being honest. She offered a refund only if I brought back all six tamales, but since we had only two left, she refused to honor a full refund. I truly believe in supporting local and Latino-owned businesses, but customer service and food quality matter. I hope they take this feedback constructively to improve both. Just found this hidden gem down the street from my house. I've been looking for a great Panaderia near me and I just found it. So many pan Dulce options to get and they are amazing. Any pan Dulce you get here will want you having more. They also sell fresh Bolillo here and they were so good. Very cheap and amazingly fresh. read more

Went in for a last minute cake for a coworker. They didn't have many options to choose from. As they were packaging I requested if they can write a message. Preferably I wanted it in English but I wanted to make it easier on them and said Spanish was fine, they also asked to spell my coworkers name on a paper. As you can see they misspelled Feliz and made a mistake on the name and just scraped it off and left the residue red jelly. I had already paid for the cake so I just decided to take it. I was very hopeful at least it would taste good. That was not the case. I got a tres leches and if you know those are super moist and sweet. The top layer was actually really dry and not very sweet at all. In fact it had a weird after taste. Most said like a chemical after taste like hairspray. To me I felt like maybe it tasted like rancid milk. I will definitely not purchase from there again. read more

And the prices are lower than most bakeries in the area. A true gem I went home and made some mexican hot chocolate with my favorite- chocolate Rey Amargo, and the pairing was excellent. This is my favorite bakery. Their bolillos are fresh and so good. They also accept special orders of mini size sweet breads.

I like their bread it's good. But once customer service starts changing it's upsetting. Young girl that's there in the evenings is rude. I'm just coming from this Panaderia and as another yelper stated, I couldn't figure out their pricing. I bought 2 dozen and paid 11.80 Although this place has a nice mini selection I don't think I'll return. Now, there is another Panaderia down the street west on Leffingwell and Meyer that is not on yelp but I stopped by to check it out and it's bigger, cleaner and set up nicer than La Mexicana. So I bought 16 mini pieces for $5 . There the prices are clearly marked on each shelf. As far as taste they are both buttery and delicious. read more

So to find this place my prove to be difficult as the front entrance is not facing the street & unfortunately the surrounding stores are vacant but it is definitely worth the visit. So the other night I had a hankering for some hot chocolate. That meant I needed some bolillos and of course my pineapple empanada! I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try since it was close to my house. Upon arriving, I had noticed it was about 30 mins to closing so I knew I had to hurry because I refuse to be one of those people who stay past closing! When I walked in, it was SO hot in there. Like I walked into an oven... like I was a bolillo about to meet my fate... it was horrible. I HATE the heat! Motivated to get out of there as soon as possible, I began asking where things were as the trays were being taken out from the cases and moved around to prepare to close the store. The girl moving the trays was really helpful, but the cashier was kind of quiet? I don't mean shy, I mean like not really friendly, but I think she just wanted to get out of there. I know I did! Anyway, I got three bolillos for a dollar, two pineapple empanadas, and one other piece of bread. I got home super excited (and much cooler) and bit into my empanada. Honestly, it was not what I was looking for.. I was sad. The dough was more of a soft bread than a crumbly, thick, crust-like bread that I wanted. Guess I'll stick to food 4 less for those! The bolillos were also kind of a let down as they were hard, but I guess that has to do with how late I went to get them.. HOWEVER, my philosophy on that is "if it's not quality, don't serve it." Bad to ME, it just wasn't up to par with my expectations. I was really craving some soft bolillos, but they were just dry, really flaky, and hard. The total for everything was $4.20, which kind of surprised me! How were two empanadas and one other piece of bread $3.20?! It was just more than I thought it would be, and it honestly wasn't really worth it to me.. My search for a regular panaderia continues, but I will let you all know if I find one! read more
