4 1/2 stars. My first time dining at this restaurant. It's been open for about 2 years now and replaced a Corner Bakery. Parking lot is sizable and I located a spot even on a Saturday morning. I was greeted by the friendly female behind the counter which was refreshing. The eatery is clean and decorated with a Hawaiian theme which reminded me of dining in Hawaii. The staff is constantly checking in once you are served your food after placing your order at the counter. The menu is diverse, and they have a solid drink selection of fresh juices at the front counter. I ordered the Kalua pork omelet which was served with home style potatoes. The entree of the pork had a smoky flavor and was yummy. We also ordered a full stack banana - macadamia pancakes that were delicious. Came on a Wednesday around 1100 and it was pretty packed. However, it did die down a bit around 1200. The ordering process here is kind of weird. You line up and they only have one cashier taking your order. Place your order, find a table, and they'll bring the food to you. The wait in line took the longest, but the food came out pretty quickly. I got the chicken katsu curry with two eggs and it was pretty good. Chicken katsu was nicely fried and the curry was nice and flavorful. Really good bite with the rice, curry, and katsu. My coworkers got some pancakes and moco loco and it was also pretty big portions and they said it was pretty good. Pretty big menu with a lot of different things on there. Prices are a tad high, but the portion size is decent. Workers were friendly and place was pretty clean. Parking lot is pretty small and you will probably have to park in the lot next door. Aloha Stacks has a really nice atmosphere with plenty of seating and only a minimal wait. One of the employees, who seemed like he might have been the manager, was very attentive and made sure everyone was taken care of. They also had staff constantly cleaning tables and the dining area, which kept the restaurant clean and organized. We ordered the Island Chilaquiles and the Ube Pancakes. The chilaquiles were a bit disappointing. The pork was pretty flavorless, and they served a lot of plain rice that didn't really add much. They also weren't very authentic compared to other chilaquiles I've had. The Ube Pancakes, though, were absolutely amazing and worth every penny. They're definitely the reason I'd come back. I also tried the ube latte. It was good at first, but it didn't have a strong ube flavor. After it sat for a while, it developed a really strong alcohol-like taste, which was unexpected and disappointing. I'm not sure what caused it, but it wasn't something I expected. The menu has a wide variety of options, so I'd definitely be open to trying something different next time. I was very disappointed in the local moco. The hamburger was dry and chewy and the rice was cold. Not a lot of flavor too the gravy. All of the other food we ordered was good. Sorry for 3 stars not your fault but I'll go back and review again when all the road work completed. Food was great. I didn't mind the walk up ordering because your counter staff was friendly and made sure order was correct. I would definitely redesign the counter to make bakery at another counter for patrons to order extra to go before they leave, so they don't have to wait in line again. Or train the bussing staff to ask if we want to order something to go. My daughter had been there before and recommended the crab fried rice. We also ordered a Uber coconut waffle, Iced Hawaiian latte and Uber latte hot. Definitely coming back. Everything delicious. Eat inside and skip the patio because smell of tar outside super strong. I went here with my partner and her family for lunch. We were greeted by a long line which fortunately moved pretty quickly. The owner walked outside and handed people menus so that they could prepare in advance to speed up the line. I ordered the Avocado Omelette and upgraded my side to 2 pancakes for an additional dollar. Both the omelette and pancakes were fairly large servings which I appreciated a lot. The omelette was flavorful and the pancakes were delicious! I really liked the food and would love to try even more items on their menu. We were originally seated outside in their patio, but the owner waved us over and brought us to a table inside the restaurant instead. Came with a friend around 10am on a Friday morning, parking was full but the line was short when we joined, it got longer as time went on. Line moves pretty fast though. I ordered a breakfast egg burrito with bacon as my protein, I saw in pictures it came with a side of tortilla chips and salsa but since I am not a salsa person and saw the burrito came with no sauce I subbed it for spicy mayo. 9/10 good burrito wasn't dry even without the sauce but the spicy mayo did add flavor. Not only does Aloha Stacks serve MASSIVE pancakes and the best Loco Moco this side of the Pacific Ocean, but the food is absolutely incredible. However, I found a shared table with barstools in the covered patio. It was warm outside, so they had a fan that helped a little. They have a big menu with customizable options. For example, you can order a loco moco with meats other than a hamburger patty. I got a loco moco with chicken katsu ($15) and fried rice ($3). We also shared the trio waffle ($16.50), which came with strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and toffee sauce. Water pitchers can be provided to you after ordering. The loco moco was delicious. I really liked the flavor from both the katsu and the gravy. I asked for over-medium eggs, so they were slightly runny. For next time, I believe I'd enjoy my eggs cooked a little longer than over-medium here. The fried rice comes at an additional charge, and I enjoyed how its savory flavor blended well with everything else. When I come back, I'd highly consider trying their chicken katsu curry. We had the trio waffle as a dessert, and it was so tasty. The toffee sauce on the side gave the waffle a pleasant sweetness that went well with the sliced fruits. Spam musubi was good We sat outside but sounded like someone was cutting metal pipe or a bar with a machine so it was 100+ dB with metal smell on and off. First I have to say, this is one of my favorite breakfast/brunch spots. There are two locations. I usually go to Cerritos. This Whittier location looks beautiful and the people look friendly. I see pastries I've never seen at Cerritos, but honestly, i didn't spend too much time there because the line was TOO LONG. Alright now I will crave these pancakes at the wrong times apparently (Weekends). They just have the perfect texture and flavor-- Mac nut banana w/the haupia sauce and the ube are my favorites. My personal favorite combo, because I'm a typical Hawaii local boy, is either of the aforementioned pancakes and a side of Portuguese sausage. Somebody tell me tho how the hell I paid $8 for 4 slices of Portuguese sausage?! I also usually get coffee but this time got orange juice which was $6 for 16oz! This is our fourth time at Aloha Stacks, and if that doesn't say enough--we love this place. It's a café-style setup where you order up front, take a number, and find a table. They're usually packed on weekends during brunch (expect at least a 30-minute wait), but we've noticed the line is often empty around 12-12:30pm. Just keep in mind they close at 2:30pm daily. We've tried almost everything on the menu--French toast, Loco Moco, breakfast burrito, waffles, and the chicken katsu curry--and every single dish has hit the spot. Once you order, the food comes out very quickly, which is impressive given how busy they get. The POG juice is a must-try, and my husband (who is extremely picky about coffee) loves their iced coffee--unlimited refills is a huge plus. The only minor issue from our last visit was that a server was spraying down the table next to us, and we could feel some of the cleaner mist hitting us (and possibly our food). I totally understand how busy it gets, but it might be better to spray the rag instead of the table when everything is so close together. Just a small annoyance in an otherwise great experience. Lots of standard choices with a " Hawaiian twist." There are also some specials listed on a chalk board up near the counter. Hubbly found a table while a stood in line to order. Another staff came by and dropped off 2 glasses and a cold water jar at the table . Place your order at the counter and put your number visibly at your table . ( there's a stand to put the number card.) Staff will bring your order to the table . Hubby got the chicken katsu loco moco. I guess he enjoyed it because he ate the whole plate! I got the Canadian ham eggs Benedict with potatoes. It was standard fare but still good ( would have been better if the potatoes were crispier). We looked around for trash bins to put away our plates but didn't see any . We assumed staff clear tha tables when you leave . Stayed in Whittier at my sisters last night and she decided to take me to breakfast. She chose Aloha Stacks and when we got there the line was out the door and around the building. That tells you off the bat the food is going to be good. We waited about 30 minutes before we ordered and sat down but the food came pretty quick. I had the ribeye loco moco and I give this plate an absolute 5 stars , I tried my sisters pancakes and those were good, my daughter got the crepes which she practically finished the whole plate! Standard overeasy eggs, with the sausage and pancakes (ordered a side of rice for 2.50), but the meal was underwhelming. Why? Because $20 for breakfast is a bit steep for a pretty standard meal. Again, food was good, pancakes were awesome, but I would say this one should be closer to the 15 range. Back to the service. The guy waiting the table was super friendly and made sure to ask if I needed anything as he walked by. The atmosphere in restaurant is nice and it's very clean. Decided to load the app while I was eating to redeem a discount for food to go. The side of refried beans and white rice that come with it are a perfect addition to the dish. Another thing worth noting; they give you generous portions, which is good for sharing and/or leftovers. We also enjoyed our lattes and thought they were very tasty with a nice addition of shredded coconut. Every time we've visited the staff have been very friendly and had our food brought out to us quickly. They've provided great customer service, were very attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a Hawaiian themed/modern interior design with Hawaiian music playing at a comfortable listening level in the background.
