No basic courtesy, like we apologize for the inconvenience. When I got to the restaurant she rolled her eyes and took the food back in cold silence. The manager came out and again, no apology. I don't expect much, just basic recognition and common courtesy. At that point, we were told there is a one-round-only sample policy, which had not been communicated earlier. Initially, I was only asked if I wanted additional samples, but declined since I didn't need them at the time and I try to avoid wasting samples. I can understand having a policy like this, but it would be helpful if it were clearly explained upfront when ordering to avoid confusion, especially when ordering for young kids. When I asked what topping options were available, I was directed to go to the other side and look myself. Since the display wasn't visible to my nieces, I had to lift each of them so they could see. This interaction came across as somewhat unfriendly rather than helpful. Towards the end, I waited for some time to get lids, but no one was available to assist. Since it was close to closing and the lids were within reach from the front, I briefly reached over to pick up two lids so we could wrap up and leave before closing. To address the owner's response: I did express surprise and disappointment in the moment, which was a reaction to seeing my 5-year-old niece disappointed after she didn't like the first sample. It was not intended as a personal attack toward the employee. If it came across more strongly than intended, that's unfortunate--but the frustration was situational rather than directed at any individual. I don't believe this interaction reflected any intent of disrespect toward staff. My intent was simply to resolve a confusing situation and complete the visit. I'm sharing this feedback in the hope that expectations are communicated more clearly upfront and that interactions, especially with families, are handled with a bit more patience and understanding.
