Breads are delicious and every time I go every employee is so nice. The owner was there one day I went and she was telling us the story of her mom and how it started :) . We are regulars now :) Even though there are bakeries closer to our home. We don't mind the drive :) read more

We stopped by to get some birotes and had coin change. When we had the birote at the counter and was counting the coins to pay the girl with the huge fake lashes refused to take the change saying she couldn't take the money ‍‍. Stop by and got two tamales. I wanted pork. They gave me the wrong Tamales. cheese by the way . I called and they said I couldn't get my money back or get two pork because I ate them. This is what the owner said. I told her they're the wrong tamales. Of course I took a bite of them. How else would I know. She also stated I didn't hear the order. I just heard two tamales. Shame..! Will never go there and I won't recommend this place. read more

This place has elite conchas. I see two 1 star reviews and one admits that the bread is delicious, however, they weren't babied, so they decided to throw a fit on yelp, the other was foolish enough to buy tamales at a bakery lmao. Cmon, yo. Anyway, elite conchas, soft, airy center, solid crust and a nice, crispy sugar coating. Service doesn't bother me, as long as the product is good. I am a big fan of the conchas. They are the best I've had. They also have really good oatmeal on Sundays. Not sure if they have oatmeal everyday bc I usually only go on Sundays. The pan dulce is always fresh and they are super nice. Not sure what all the neg reviews are about. They are sweet to me, despite the fact that I don't speak Spanish they still try their best to accommodate me. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would! My family tried tamales from this place what a JOKE! 2 dozen of tamales that had 0 meat maybe like a tablespoon of meat and the rest was all MASA! $22 a dozen isn't worth it! DO NOT GO HERE! We went back to tell the owner how poorly these tamales were made and she had the worse Attitude, her response was "She can't make every customer happy and doesn't know what to tell us everyone makes them different." Today,Thanksgiving Day was a rainy morning (pouring) and I decided to sleep in enjoy the weather. Then in a panic I realized it was after 9am and my go to bakery would be all out of pan dulce. You have to be an early bird to get anything at La Moderna. I walked in and sure enough there was a long line of unhappy customer and the bread and tamales were sold out. I left disappointed but not defeated. I had consistently noticed "Panadería Del Campo" but had never strayed. I decide to go in and was delighted to see racks of fresh pan dulce, bolillos and tamales ready to go! I noticed the customer bread trays were very clean and as I was getting the bread the baker was adding hot bread simultaneously. The pan dulce had a good variety and there was plenty of staff. I wanted to spend no more than $30 and the owner was accommodating to me adding a few more items to the box as we went along. The price of the box was $3.00 which is a high but it was an actual cake box. They have two size boxes . One is like a full sheet and the other is smaller. They are both the same price. I thought she would be sold out on tamales but she had plenty. They needed to be warmed up at home in order to get them real hot. Not a big deal. The difference between the two panaderías tamales is... Del Campos were double the size and fully cooked. La Moderna seem to be undercooked, masa is a bit watery and are smaller at times. You never know until you open them, but they are tasty. With that being said I would not say one tamale is better than the other. I will have to try all the flavors before making a better decision. I purchased chicken and cheese tamales this time around. The staff at both bakeries are usually too busy to interact with their customers for long but I did have a conversation with the owner of Del Campo and found out a little background on the family owned business. It was started by her late mother and she has stepped in to continue to offer our community a little piece of Mexico. I would say after today I will start splitting my support for these small businesses. I gave the panadería 5 star because they were keeping the shelves full, clean and tasty on Thanksgiving Day. ** Note this Christmas 2019 will be the first time they will close their doors for the holiday in order to give their staff time off with their families** A smart woman once said - "There is plenty of money to go around to all local businesses" read more

All though there bread is delicious we experience really bad service from the older lady owner our mini concha's order was perfect but when we tried to order a large quantity of bolillos for our grandma funeral luncheon the owner aggressively told my mother no she's not wasting her time on making 3 dozen bolillos for an order the bread already made a day earlier after going there for years since we been living in this neighborhood for more than 30 years we will not be going back. We have heard stories from bad experiences our neighbors have encountered with the same older lady owner and didn't think much of it until we experienced this incident. read more

This is the nastiest place ever, I went a purchased a bread with cheese and beans when I took a bite it had maggots inside. I also purchased tamales and a few other stuff. When I went back to let them and get my money back she only wanted to give me the money for the bread, I looked at that lady like are you serious. I been coming here ever since it opened. I spend around $10.00 per week. After today I will never go again. Front lady person made old lady cry by yelling at her about a .10 paper bag. When I got to the counter and asked her I'd she was having a bad day. She said no! I said then why do you yell at your customers and and old lady she said not to be nosey and mind my own business. I told her that's not customer service she said mind my own business and to call her mother that owns the shop to complain they lost my business for life and my family's. read more

I used to be a regular customer, 2-3 times during the week. I love the bread but lately is not always fresh and I would ask the owner if the bread was fresh and she would lie. Customer service is the worse with the new owner. I work customer service and she lacks experience. After a few bad experiences I finally decided to stop coming here, because the customer service is worse by the day and the bread is not fresh. The owner is rude, disrespectful and unprofessional beyond disappointed and I wish I can give this review a zero for customer service. They have lost a costumer of 20 years, what a shame. read more

0 Stars - now remember this is during COVID-19 pandemic time. The owner was NOT wearing a Mask! First and last time we buy tamales from this place! We though we'd give them a try since our usual place wasn't taking any more orders. WHAT A MISTAKE! The cheese tamales were burnt. The burnt smell came right through the paper bag. The red pork tamales had very little meat filling. The tamales were 98% masa. My husband went back (close to closing time), a few days after Christmas to tell them how horrible their tamales were and how embarrassing it was to offer anyone to eat these tamales. Not to mention that we had a hard time eating them. They didn't want to hear it. The owner actually rolled her eyes at him and said she wanted to go home. She obviously doesn't care about making it right for the customer. No customer service here. They just want your money. So needless to say the rest of these tamale will end up in the trash. Lesson learned. Back to La Moderna Bakery we go! read more

I've been going to this bakery off and on and when the owner was still running the place, she had a better attitude than the owner now. I've worked in customer service for over 30 years and let me tell you that I didn't care for owner sarcasm, which doesn't go together with customer service. I chose to go there not because it's the best bread in town but because I was lazy to drive further. I have choices and I'll be driving further where I can get my bread and feel appreciated as a customer. I don't need no one making me feel like they're doing me a favor. read more

This is the worst bakery I've been to! The cashier was rude. We asked her a question about some bread and she went and touched it after handling cash. When my family decided on what bread to get, the first piece we picked up had TONS of mold on the bottom! Who knew how long it had been there! When we brought it up to the cashiers attention she grabbed the piece of bread threw it in the trash, said "there" and smirked as if everything was okay! She didn't even go check the rest. I will give this place zero stars, I've being coming here alot lately , but today the front lady decided to scream at my husband over coffee stating that some other person was waiting for coffee as well but didn't make since then she started talking bad about my husband to other customers I ask her to please stop talking about him since he didn't do anything wrong and she had no reason to scream at him , when she was charging me I asked her politely if she had charged for my husbands coffee she screamed at me saying yes I did I had to tell she had no reason to yell at me .. This morning we picked up some conchas for breakfast, and unfortunately found that 5 out of the 9 were from the previous day. There was a CLEAR distinction as the older ones had a darker brown color, tasted and felt dry as opposed to the fresh ones which were super soft and fluffy. When we went back to get a refund for the 5 conchas, we were received by the owner (daughter of the original owner who passed away about 2 years ago) with a very nasty attitude and a "talk to the hand" expression. She denied the bread being old, and had a very condescending tone. Terrible customer service! We've also witnessed the owner treat her employees very poorly, as they even avoid conversations with customers about her. Very unfortunate because the fresh conchas are truly delicious. Its like the gods themselfs baked the bread in the ovens of Valhalla, and Zues himself put it on a lightning bolt and hurls it to the bakery where Aphrodite majestically places it on a tin pan. Once you take a bite out of the jalapeño cheese bread its like being magically transfer to a world of puppies and unicorns. The Conchas are amazing, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, reminds me of the time when i was in middle school i was walking down the hallway and this girl named Nancy waved at me, i didnt know her and i waved back and we started talking we became friends and i fell in love for the first time.. thats what its like to bite into a concha warm fresh out the oven...
