The food from the cafeteria is fantastic. This place has one of the best breakfast burritos in town. The guizados are delicious. I get the Chile verde burrito for lunch all the time and it's never let me down. Overall, the food and customer service are 5 stars. Don't let the bad reviews fool you!

They accommodate you based on where you want to eat. There are many options to choose from, from eating in door, or out door options, or take out. It is a busy restaurant since it's right across the general hospital and many orders come through, so it may take some time to get your order, but there are many things you can do while waiting, watch tv or just admiring all the memorabilia! The waitress greets us they told us table or booth we decided booth and we sat down and she hand us the menu then we're looking at the menu and see what to order. My wife order the chorizo plate and choice of flour or corn tortillas she pick flour,then I order a large bowl of menudo because it's Saturday it's menudo day Saturday and Sunday. We tasted the chips and homemade salsa it was very good we're impressed about the homemade green salsa it wasn't hot but with great flavor of chile and was very impressive and chips were nice warm and fresh from the fryer. Then the waitress brought us our meal we're very impressed with the food including my large bowl of menudo. I really enjoy my bowl of menudo it was very good the meat was very tender that I really enjoy I like lemon,onion,oregano add it flavor to the menudo. My wife enjoy her chorizo plate she like the rice and beans it a very good rich flavor but chorizo was ok she say it didn't have a good chorizo flavor but she like it. I'm not a fan of restaurants that aren't transparent with their prices. Panaderias are usually fairly priced. This one is the exception. I thought I was getting a plain croissant, but it ended being a ham and cheese croissant. I also ordered another flaky type pastry that had custard in the middle with sugar on top. In total for TWO, TWO pieces of bread, i was charged $6.50! The croissant was mediocre and there was nothing special about the custard pastry. It was highly disappointing to eat. **The ham in the ham and cheese croissant was rolled up in the middle like a joint. It should haven been evenly spread out in the middle to get an even bite! ** I gave them a star because they did offer a lot of variety for the consumer and the service was descent. Would i give them no stars if that were an option...I would. They do have a mix n match section where they offer day old bread they didn't sell at $2. The day old bread would've been a better choice. Maybe then would I have given them a better rating, idk. Also, maybe I'm being cheap and haven't been updated on what a ham and cheese croissant cost nowadays. Regardless, it wasn't worth it. I wouldn't come back here myself.

I was shocked when we visited Nina's Food stand. Juan's Jalisco Truck was what I expected... A big truck manned by 4 people inside, but Nina's setup was very small and low key. These two vendors are in the top six vendors out of the hundreds of regular taco trucks and the dozens of gourmet food trucks. Then we went to Nina's and OMFG, the deep fried quesadillas with the hand made tortillas were heaven! We split a Huitlacoche aka Mexican Truffle aka Corn Mushroom (fungus) and a Carne Asada deep fried quesadillas and while we were waiting for them to cook, Nina comped us a "Pambazos" a Bolillo dipped in a guajillo chile sauce and then made into a sandwich with potato and chorizo in the middle... OMFG... OMFG... another fantastic morsel from heaven. Nina's food is straight from the streets of Mexico City. Her stand was surprisingly modest. Basically one 6ft table of ingredients and condiments, the cooking table, deep frying wok and that's it! I was shocked that her operation was not much bigger than Ricky's cart. At Nina's for awhile her daughter (who fortunately spoke perfect English) was helping work the stand and she had one guy working the deep frying while Nina would make the fresh flour tortillas and then add the filling and then either hand off for deep frying or else would cook the tortilla before adding ingredients if someone wanted one cooked on the grill. Next time, I have to try the non-fried one. The huitlacoche quesadillas or any dish made with huitlacoche is hard to find as it is considered a delicacy and relatively expensive ingredient. The corn fungus is a strange looking fungus that some marketing genius renamed Mexican Truffle! Another kick ass East LA dining adventure, tasting some of the best of the best ELA street food and two of the 6 Vendy Award Finalists. I certainly hope one of them wins it all this weekend. So get this, no lines at any of the vendors and I totally managed to stuff my face silly for a grand total cost of... $7.00! So at the Vendy Awards this weekend, you can buy a ticket for $50.00 and for that privilege wait for hours in lines to get to the food... I stopped and ate at 3 vendors, shopped at a local Hispanic market and bought some produce, chatted with our members and with the vendors, hopped in the cars and we drove about 12 minutes away to Nina's and all in less than 1 hour and 45 minutes! That's how much time some people will probably have to wait to get any food this weekend at the Vendys... Superstar find of the night! - Nina's Pombazos de papa y chorizo (potato and spicy sausage between two slices of bread that have been dipped in chile guajillo sauce and grilled).

I caught wind of her existence after hearing she trumped a few uber trendy food trucks at the most recent "Los Angeles Vendy Awards." She won the judges over with her pambazos, but when I went to check her out this weekend, I decided to just go for the basic, non-fried quesadilla with carne asada. OH. MY. It was magical, my friends. Magical. And on the recommendation of the girl who took my order, I topped it with a dry salsa that I've never seen before. It was made with sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, peanuts and chopped up dried chilies. Definitely spicy and definitely good! I can't wait to go back with a bigger appetite and try the famed pambazo. Long live the queen!
