We were excited to eat..until we turned around and saw 2 MASSIVE Cockroaches just chilling on the ground. As someone with a hobby in entomology, I was thoroughly impressed with the size of them.. they've been eating good, considering the old toast on the ground w/ a crumb trail leading to the dead bugs (crumbs included in photo). However, we DID come to dine, so I'm giving the least amount of gold stars possible. With peace & love, get someone to clean that Brady Bunch family reunion up! Servers were super sweet!

I have only been for breakfast, however I did enjoy it each time that I have been (besides their gravy)! The place is older, and a little run down. But the food and staff are good.

And it's taste very weird with a thick texture. They probably just add flour to the same mix everyday.

Place looks very old, but sometimes good food comes from those type places. Ordered biscuits and gravy and y'all.... They gave us brown dinner gravy with biscuits. That's all we ordered and our drive and money was a waste. Never coming back!

Not on the highway signs, but good clean eating!

If you are traveling I-85 and then going north on NC 321 turn south at the interchange and go 150 yds.. Looks like an old HoJo's, has stained ceiling tiles and cheap wall paneling, but the food and staff is great. Cheap breakfast, lunch or dinner. Plenty of parking, and did I mention really good food for little money. Very fast service and very good coffee.

one shift open 6 to 2 most major credit cards accepted what's interesting is the cash incentive me reflecting taking a picture of that

1965. Interstate 85 is completed in to Charlotte from the south end. coming through Gastonia North Carolina on the outskirts really your only main drag before you got to town. located off another main drag us-321 coming from North and South out of hickory working its way on down into other states before the Interstate 77 Howard Johnson's motor inn's were everywhere at the time..In your travels to places HoJo's could be found anywhere notated by their sign and of course there legendary restaurants with their full service diners and the classic orange and white spired buildings you could tell a HoJo from a mile away. well in 1966 Howard Johnson got in on the North Carolina building boom and opened up a motor Lodge hear in Gastonia.. it would stay that way until 2001 for 35 years when it would convert over to a days Inn.. still at the same location 53 years now while the hotel has a new front office it still has the same motor Lodge look and it still has the original building for the diner..yes although it's definitely now considered a classic roadside dive and it has that feel to it you're not going to get 5-star frou-frou food and service you may be lucky to get clean silverware the first time around LOL.. but if you're a fan of classic Americana this is your kind of place it is a dive and it takes pride in knowing itself is a dive.. no remodels much of it looks like 1966 still all the original patina still there the original building design of a hojo right down to the spire..although the spire is now more of a aquamarine or teal color what you will see though even though the steeple is totally missing you can definitely see what was once back in the day orange and white a Howard johnsons. why there's been changes through the years for many years now it's a one shift restaurant because it get let's face it one exit up you have Walmart Target all your 20th and 21st century big box places and all your chain restaurants nobody wants to run down here for fancy dinners. but if you like good old-fashioned breakfast with no frills this is your kind eating joint.. service can be a little slight sketchy but the food fast quick greasy and good..I had the blueberry pancakes that was really impressed by the fact that it wasn't a fancy batter with blueberries and side it was just good old-fashioned pancakes already made thrown on the grill with a homemade like a blueberry sauce and fresh berries put on top didn't even need to put any maple syrup on it was so good..another thing I noticed about this place I'm looking at other pictures their sausage is very much burnt it has a crispy taste to it but it tastes delicious it almost looks like it's dried out and yucky until you cut into it and realize they have a unique way of doing it and I like it.. the original floor is still there it's almost looks like it's in need of repair but it's not there's really other than the newer modern TVs on for a customer convenience that's about all you're going to find this modern in this place it's like literally get rid of the TVs and with a little bit of newer bric-a-brac on the wall you might think it was 1982.. classic roadside food. People complaining about service because you know what you get when you walk in your just getting barebone stick-to-your-ribs food. you're not getting any kind of gourmet you're not watching your calories which is why they are so slammed all the time. sometimes there's even a wait to get into this place on The Weekend thus it hard to believe but it's true people like to make the journey here I think it's because of the fact is a nostalgia to because a lot of the whole HoJos are gone they've been torn down they don't even exist anymore and it's cool to still see one especially if you traveled when you were a kid and you remember seeing Howard Johnson's everywhere now you look around and it's hotels with fancy dining rooms like at a Holiday Inn but they're still none of the Classic motor lodges which is what Howard Johnson was what it brings back a lot of memories for people traveling. I was able to get my truck in there and I was happy and I had a nice good old-fashioned greasy breakfast I left satisfied and I will definitely return again if I can get in there and their side of the thousand cars in the parking lot knowing I could get my 73 foot truck on out of there. but I love good old-fashioned roadside dives and I really like original ones that were built back in the day cuz my favorite decades are the 20th century from approximately 1954 through 1982 those are my favorite years of nostalgia for Trucker Kev. but walking in and seeing the high ceilings and everything else I looked at some of the reviews and I thought you know what let's do it it's early I get my truck in it's breakfast time my stomach is grumbling glad I did now definitely come back again..

The whole floor was like this and worse.

The Pancake House used to be one of my favorites but it has really not been taken care of cleanliness wise. However the food is decent.

Fun to see the old theater and the kids with us enjoyed looking around. The music was a little loud, but we did let the server know and they did turn it down for us. We had a group 8. The food was good, maybe a little small in portions. We almost all ordered the crab cake Benedict and the ham Benedict. We also ordered the cheesecake, the crème brûlée and the coconut cake. They were all really good, but I would note the crème brûlée had I believe tea in it? It wasn't just a traditional flavor but it was delicious! I do want to comment on experience. I was with my 8 month old son, who can't eat runny eggs. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and I asked to swap the poached egg to scrambled egg so I could share with my son. The server let me know he was going to check with the chef. He came back right before the plate was dropped off and said "The chef will not be doing that substitution for you". I acknowledge this is an abnormal substitution for eggs Benedict, but I was surprised and disappointed that the chef couldn't make this simple accommodation.

This is our second visit here, and our first time with the dinner menu. There were lots of great choices! We tried the hush puppies appetizer and the deviled eggs to start. Great presentation and delicious. For entrees we went with the chicken and gravy, fish tacos and the love bug smash burger. Huge portions and really really good. We were very full afterward. We wanted to have a little more leisurely time there, maybe try a dessert, but we had to be at an event, so there was a time constraint. Overall, this is a great spot in downtown Belmont. Also, this is Jonas family owned restaurant so check out all the music memorabilia by the restrooms.

My wife and I recently visited Nellie's Southern Kitchen, and unfortunately our experience was…read moredisappointing overall. We started with the pimento cheese fries, which were easily the highlight of the meal. They were flavorful, well-prepared, and set a great first impression. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The service was noticeably slow, and our food took quite a while to arrive. I ordered the fried chicken, and it was significantly overcooked. The chicken was dry, and the breading was so dark it was just shy of being burnt. The mashed potatoes on the side were good, but they couldn't make up for the quality of the main dish. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with roasted carrots. The steak itself was quite good, but the carrots never arrived with the meal. They were brought out long after we had finished eating, which made them feel like an afterthought. For dessert, my wife chose the peach cobbler. It appeared to be served with ice cream, but by the time it reached the table, the ice cream had completely melted. The dessert looked more like peach cobbler floating in a bowl of melted ice cream than a properly plated dessert. Whether it sat too long before being served or was prepared incorrectly, it was not particularly appealing. The one bright spot throughout the evening was our server. He was attentive, checked on us regularly, and kept our drinks refilled. Unfortunately, good service alone wasn't enough to overcome the slow pace and disappointing food quality. Based on this visit, the overall dining experience was subpar. Aside from the pimento cheese fries and a few individual items, the meal did not live up to expectations.
