Had to decide between Baja Fresh and Pancheros for a burrito for lunch, and I was not disappointed at all in going with Pancheros. Its very much in the same class of Chipotle, wherein they make the burrito in front of you, but the way they make the tortilla right in front of you out of a ball of dough was a cool little difference. The fresh tortilla makes the burrito a little more "gummy" than what youre used to, but everything else was pretty much up there with Baja Fresh and Chipotle taste wise. Pancheros gets extra points though because their guacamole and queso dip were FANTASTIC! Its not cheap, and everything is an "extra" expense (want tortilla chips? Extra. Salsa? Extra. Peppers on burrito? Extra.), but its not gonna break the bank or anything outrageous. 2 burritos, 2 small drinks, 1 order of tortilla chips and queso dip was about $20. The store was clean and quiet and the employees were nice, if a little dull. I have nothing bad to say about Pancheros and will definitely be making a repeat visit soon. read more

I'm so torn... on one hand, five stars for the queso. On the other hand, one star for the lackluster burrito bowl. Chipotle wins on the burrito bowl, hands down. I ordered a carnitas bowl here and the pork was beyond salty, inedible. The lettuce had a chemical taste, like it wasn't rinsed before serving. I ended up throwing most of it out. On the other hand, the queso is AMAZING! I'd come back here just for the queso and blue corn tortilla chips... just the right amount of spice, ohmygod cheesy goodness. Been coming to this Pancheros for years. Always friendly staff, nice to my kids, they understand our dairy-free/vegetarian requests, never any issues. Outside or inside seating. Decided to try this restaurant because there's a geocache just outside. That's how we get dining recommendations sometimes. The restaurant is in a strip mall with a couple of other stores but parking seemed more than adequate. The menu selection is limited and reminded me of Chipotle, which is not a good thing because what I really wanted for lunch wasn't on the menu, but I made do with a carnitas burrito. Service was good and the food seemed fresh enough. Plus, they have free wi-fi internet. 12/21/2011: Okay, I guess I have to clarify because someone messaged me to ask about the 3-star rating. The food was only about average, not good enough to merit above-average pricing. It's not something notable that I'd go out of my way for and it doesn't merit an above-average rating. I think the food itself is a 5/5. However, the portions are small, you def get more food at chipotle. But, the burritos are excellent, very tasty and I enjoyed eating it a lot. The tortilla is the best part as it is homemade and fresh. Overall, good quality and good taste good. It's also relatively cheap compared to other places like chipotle ($9/burrito). The only reason I give 3 stars instead of 5 is the staff, one of the guys was kinda rude (nothing too crazy but still noticeable) and the portion was a bit too small for the price. read more

When I asked for a little extra guac since I was paying $1.16 for it and they were extremly rude about it and charged me for double. Pancheros is my favorite spot to eat and the coworkers there are so nice to me and some of the managers as well since I go there all the time. Unfortunately, this employee named Yonathan was very rude to me and made faces when I asked for more Queso. Even before that day he always has a stank bothered look on his face. Pancheros is hands down the best Mexican build your own burrito/ Mexican food place around. Chipotle is good but not comparable. Let's go through the process of getting the best burrito of your life: First, the tortilla. Right before your eyes they transform a ball of dough into a perfect tortilla. The freshest tortilla you'll ever get in your entire life. Life changing, really. The fillings are all incredible. The rice, the beans, the veggies, all the meats, all the salsas, EVERYTHING but most importantly the QUESO. The queso is a gift from heaven. Smooth, creamy white cheese with the perfect amount of spicy heat with jalapeños and vegetables in it. Get it on the burrito and with chips on the side, you'll need both. I dream about this queso regularly. Next, the "Bob." A tiny red spatula that really makes their burritos the bet around. This spatula mixes the ingredients so that every single bite is a perfect combination of flavors. Say goodbye to the big mouthfuls of rice you don't want. Finally, they roll up the burrito and, since the tortilla is so freshly pressed and cooked, the burrito melds together into one perfect bundle that is guaranteed to hold all your ingredients in. This place is similar to what you would expect from other chains like Qdoba and Chipotle. This place wins by a large margin for two reasons: 1) fresh tortillas a pressed upon the time of ordering 2) they actually mix up the contents of your burrito before wrapping it - nothing is more annoying than eating through all your rice long before hitting veggies or meat or whatever else. I've been going here for months now, and at first, this food was great. Way better then chipotle in my opinion. Then service started to go down hill. Service is absolutely terrible, the workers seem completely miserable and hate their lives and want to make you hate yours too. They don't know enough English to get your order correct, I asked for corn and got lettuce after yelling corn multiple times. Don't know how corn even relatively sounds like lettuce. The portion size has shrunk by 90% when I first started going there the bowls were the same size as chipotle, now I eat my entire bowl in 2 chips full. Don't even get me started on the rude and arrogant cashiers they hire here, I ordered 2 bowls chips and a drink and the cashier somehow forgot my food and I needed to ask if I could get my food???!!! Stay far away from this place, I will not be returning. This place would be great if the portion sizes didn't resemble those of a 4 year old child who couldn't chew their own food and workers who actually enjoyed giving complimentary service, this place needs complete new management that actually speaks fluent english and doesn't treat you like you just spit in their face. So within a 5 mile radius, the quasi-mexican fast food gods hath bequeathed the denizens of lower New Jersey with a Baja Fresh, Qdoba, Chipotle and a Pancheros. What's a boy to do? Why, eat from all of them, silly! With the proximity to my office in Moorestown, Pancheros is a nice stop for a quick carry out so I can drip carnitas juice on my keyboard. What sets Pancheros apart is the freshly made flour tortilla. A small ball of dough pressed in a tortilla press and grilled quickly makes all of the difference in the burrito wars. And so the freshly made wrap adds an extra bit of chewy toothsomeness that elevates the working class meal in a wrap to something a little more extraordinary. I usually get the lime rice, with black beans, corn salsa, pico and either the carnitas or veggies. Not that it's anything as sublime as the heavenly machacha burros or the chorizo and potatoes burros from Carolina's in Phoenix (http://www.yelp.com/biz/carolinas-mexican-food-phoenix), but for east coast, it's got some game. The carnitas is just a tad too salty and perhaps a little dry, but a dollop of the chunky guac covers a multitude of sins. The veggie burrito has always disappointed me. Panchero's has kinda grown on me. It's not as polished as Chipotle but for some reason I keep on going back every now and then. The unique thing about this place is that they prepare your tortilla shell right when you order it. They take a ball of dough, put it in this machine for 2-3 seconds that flattens it out making a "pussshhhaaaa" sound (approximate) before sliding it over to a grill where they let it warm up for a couple more seconds. Using this machine looks fun. I wish I could try it. Anyway, the shell ends up being kinda soft and sticky. It's a bit different than shells you might be used to. I like getting my burrito with the corn salsa and I think the mild sauce has a slightly sweet taste which is also a bit different. read more
