8G- Beef Tacos de Birria with cheese
    Clarissa L.

Casual Mexican place that was fairly busy on Friday night. We had the mole appetizer, and birria tacos and steak fajitas. The birria tacos were great with the cheese melted in and the consommé for dipping which had a spicy kick to it. The fajitas were just ok, the beef was thin and dry and I was a little dissappointed with the corn shells instead of the flour ones. The service was a little slow but that's because one guy was taking care of the whole restaurant. Perks is BYOB. Downside they only serve bottle waters and juices, not even tap water!

Stopped in at Panchos Mexican Grill on Main Street during a business trip through Southbound Brook. From the outside, you would never guess what is happening in that kitchen, but the food tells a completely different story. I started with the molletes de mole, which I had never tried before. These little guys were packed with flavor, warm, rich, and surprisingly addictive. A perfect way to kick things off if you want something truly authentic. For the main dish, I ordered a vegetarian burrito with a side of beans and rice. Generous portions, well seasoned, and enough left over to take back to the hotel for later. No complaints there. I did takeout since the dining area is simple and straightforward. From what I saw, takeout seems to be the main flow of business, and it makes sense because the food is definitely the highlight. Overall, this is a solid three and a half star spot. The atmosphere is basic, but when it comes to flavor and authenticity, Panchos delivers. Sometimes the best food comes from the places you least expect, and this stop proved it.

Obsessed with this place, and must pick up dinner from here at least once a week. The guy behind the counter, I'm not sure if he's the owner, but he's super nice, knowledgeable, and always helpful. In all the times I've been here, they only messed up my order once!! All the food is flavored to taste, and my favorites are the shrimp tacos, carne asada tacos, and chicken quesadillas. Their sauces (the green and red) are made in house and soooo good!!! Def give it a try, they won't disappoint!!

I stopped by here after attending the Artisan Fair at Memorial Park so I had already eaten an enormous Colombian hot dog at the Urban Dogs food truck with nearly ten toppings! Suffice it to say, I was just looking for a little dessert and headed to Main Street and decided to stop in at Pancho's Mexican Grill. I was treated to the largest serving of Flan I have ever received in my life. The waiter even asked if I needed a second spoon to split it! I did not and was able to eat it all by myself. Light, sweet, gelatinous, tasty and delectable! I will definitely be back for actual lunch/dinner the next time I am on Main Street!

This is my second visit and the food didn't disappoint. The service isn't great but they try. It's one waiter for the whole place so I wouldn't come here if you're punching a clock. It's a no frills spot. The food though! We enjoyed it and my friend is Mexican and approves. They give you 4 sopes in the order and were kind enough to give us 2 Mexican chorizo and 2 carne Asada. They were so good. I prefer the carne Asada but that's bc I think chorizo is an acquired taste. The carne Asada was delicious. My friend loved both. She loves chorizo and said the flavor was on point. We enjoyed the tacquitos but I'd stick with the sopes. I've had their birria before and loved it. We had hibiscus aqua fresca and it was huge and excellent. The flan was huge also. I really enjoyed it. My friend liked it but felt the caramel was a bit dark for her taste. We'll both be regulars here. One negative - you're charged a convenience fee and gratuity if you eat in. We weren't thrilled but the food was good enough for us to accept that.

This place is never packed. The food is well made and flavorful. We don't live around here so whenever we are around we stop in for a bite. It's well priced. The waiters are helpful in helping you select your food.

Yelped a local place for authentic street tacos and found this gem. From the outside, it's very plain. Almost can't tell it's open but when you see everyone coming in & out, you know it's THE spot. Got my order to go although next time I'll be eating it indoors. The space is huge with lots of tables. Put in my order for al pastor tacos. He said 25 minutes but I got it waaaay less time! Soooo freaking good! Satisfying and filling! Five tacos for $16. Not bad if I do say so myself. Go. You'll like it!

A very unassuming place on Main Street where I went with limited expectations on a Friday lunch with friends but was utterly surprised. The place was pretty much empty and just had one person serving the tables, however food came out pretty fast. We ordered the nachos with salsa and nachos with guacamole, the salsa was a salsa verde and had a kick to it , guacamole was very fresh, the tamarind drink is our usual at any Mexican place so glad they had it. We had chorizo tacos, Al pastor and chicken fajitas. The portions were generous,Al pastor was good, chorizo was a bit too salty! The fajitas looked really good and came with beans and tortillas. Clearly this is one small local gem, hole in the wall place with clean and welcoming interiors not over bearing but modest ambiance. Highly recommend the appetizers.

The birria tacos ($16) were so delicious! I love how authentically simple the taco fillings are (beef, onions, cilantro, salsa verde, and lime) yet how well it packs a punch of flavor! I also got a large horchata to drink (regular size is $4, large is $5), but I definitely could've stuck with the regular size lol it was ginormous! But very good. Be sure to mix it up to prevent sipping clumps of the strained rice. Our waitress was also very nice, price can't be beat, and they brought our food out quickly. Highly recommend!

I visited with a large group and they were able to accommodate without issue. The food was decent, but left something to be desired. Someone in the group asked for hot sauce but there was none available. The service was satisfactory. I appreciated the variety of taco options (proteins) on the menu. While the portions were satisfying, I did find the prices a bit on the higher side.

The restaurant was laid out with tables to the right & left, a coffee/juice bar and a bakery section in the back. Since my Spanish is nil, I believe who was one of the owners helped us choose our meal. Peruvian Beef Stir fry with rice and fries & Pueblo Style fillet of fish (tilapia) I had plantains & black beans as sides. Both were portions for two people & absolutely delicious. I had a tamarind drink and my friend had a Batido Mango (made with milk) The staff were all sweet and helpful. We got to-go bags. The prices were very reasonable for what we got. After we paid the check we were given caramelo flan ~ we said we would never finish it - well we did! Pretty much licked the plate. Can't wait to go back! And since I watch Celtic, premier, euro soccer, have found a new place that opens early! Soccer was playing on the screens while there! Another plus. Definitely check this place out, they have traditional Costa Rican, Peruvian and Salvadoran dishes - just to name a few!!!

Stage House Tavern 1719 Amwell Rd…read more Somerset, NJ 08873 Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast The restaurant entrance looks like the front of a house surrounded by grassland. Not actually has a full size bar, indoor dining area, and an outdoor patio. This is a slight variation from a traditional chicken Parmesan entrée. The cutlet was prepared differently. The edges were pounded thin and had a crispy texture. The center of the cutlet was thick and chewier. Hidden beneath the cutlet was house made spinach linguine. It's different from typical pasta, but it has an acquired earthy taste. The appearance of the vodka sauce isn't the most appealing, but it tastes a lot better than it looks. The sauce was thick and creamy and had chunks of tomato. I highly recommend requesting an additional cup of sauce for full flavor. Overall, I enjoyed this plate. The minor drawback was we arrived while our server was ending his shift during our meal. We were assigned another server and it lead to miscommunication. #stagehousetavern #chickenparmreview #parmesancrustedchickenbreast

The restaurant was not yet crowded, yet my husband and I were put essentially in an "alcove" seating area away from the main dining room. Absolutely no ambiance, right next to the beverage area where the servers gather and also where the high chairs and booster seats were stored. When I noted my displeasure, I was met with, "Sorry, we're really busy today and we can't seat you elsewhere." There were many other empty tables in the main dining room and also empty hightop tables in the bar area. The buffet food was overcooked and cold. The coffee tasted like it was made last night. Total of our bill was $157.00 (and we paid an additional 3% on top of this for credit card). Yes, we knew what it was a head, but they also added an automatic 20% tip and the bill still suggested that we give our server a tip, who we had to follow up with for another cup of coffee, milk and water. Extremely disappointed. We won't be coming back here for a holiday meal.
