Went on cinco de mayo, the service was good - friendly servers trying to take care of many folks, kudos to them! Ambiance is nice and people can sit outside - which is what we did. Unfortunately, we won't be back again. The food was average at best and the wait time for simple food took more than 45 minutes. Food is great but customer service is awful. There is a system that lets you acquire points that allows you to order free meals. However, the platform is not user friendly and does not allow you to use the accumulated points towards your meal. When I called I was told to just read the email as to what qualifies. Still could not get it to work. When I went to the establishment to seek assistance in using the app I was told the manager was too busy and to contact customer service number on the bottom of the app. There was no contact number that I could find and when I mentioned that they basically said to google it. First time here. Right in town. If your in the area its a must. The service was absolutely amazing. The establishment was clean and felt authentic warm and cozy. But the feed was absolutely amazing. The plantains were the best I have had in a very long time. Perfectly cooked. The food is very very filling. Fun ambiance and a family place. I was in a party of four by 530pm for dinner. The place was fairly empty so I cannot explain the very slow service. Food was filling but the chicken that comes on the chicken fajita salad is not chicken fajita style. Didn't have the energy to complain. Nachos were just OK. If I could rate Casa Luna lower than one star, I would. We made a reservation well in advance for a family birthday celebration, only to arrive and be told we didn't have a "real" reservation because the hostess never bothered to write it down. Meanwhile, there were plenty of empty tables available throughout the restaurant. Instead of taking accountability for THEIR mistake, the staff immediately shifted the blame onto us. It then took them nearly an hour to figure out they could simply push tables together to accommodate our family. An hour -- for a reservation THEY lost. The lack of professionalism, communication, and basic customer service was unbelievable. This establishment clearly has no idea how to treat paying customers, especially those celebrating an important occasion. I fully recommend going elsewhere, because customer service at Casa Luna is practically nonexistent. Based on what I've seen, I fully expect some generic damage-control "notpology" response instead of genuine accountability, which seems customary for this establishment. Stay tuned -- I absolutely intend on exposing this place for what it is. No customer should ever be subjected to this level of incompetence and disrespect. read more

This review has 2 experiences to tell you about. First of all I have several friends who have been telling me to try Casa Luna for several years. Last Friday I had a wonderful Chicken Quesadilla with incredible guacamole dip. Very flavorful and most filling. The staff was very attentive and told me to stop by for breakfast the following Sunday (today) so I did. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Lighting made the room warm and welcoming. I now understand why my friends rave about Casa Luna. My second review is for breakfast. Full disclosure, they are trying it out, so Sunday's only, for now. I hope they are successful with it because I ordered Huevos Rancheros, my test meal for Latin restaurants. It was incredible. The tortillas were perfect, flavor was traditional and I added a few spots of hot sauce. I will absolutely be coming back each Sunday until they decide to make it a more common offering. Whatever, your presence, dinner, lunch, breakfasts on Sunday, come to Casa Luna in Somerville. You'll make it a regular place on your list of favorite New Jersey restaurants. This place does not live up to the hype! I was so ready for a nice Mexican meal and was not prepared for what was to come. The menu is so nice but the food does not correlate. The place itself was vibrant and clean. Our waiter went through the special of the day and some of the appetizers. We brought some drinks for the byob. When I think of Mexican food, I think of fresh and homemade salsas and dishes made with love and care. To me the food here did not give me that. Instead it felt like a lot of sandbagging (A lot of dishes that are premade or store bought served on the plate). The rice I felt was cold and overcooked. It's the first time at a Mexican restaurant I did not enjoy the sauce my dish came with. They described it as a butter sauce so I was imagined a velvety, glossy sauce and not an oil sauce. It was also interesting to be served thin cut chicken breasts. From my experience, the chicken at Mexican restaurants are always cut or still on the bone. read more

If you're looking for Birria Taco's this place has one of the best in Somerville! An additional fave of mine is their Mole and you can never go wrong with a sizzling fajita platter! The food and service here is great - they offer free chips, but is BYOB! I'm not too much of a drinker, but i do appreciate that they have a good selection of mocktails, and almost every Jarrito flavor too :). read more

Much better than most places I have tried but not the best I tried but comes pretty close as many other places don't even come close to this. I definitely will recommend it their Tres Leches. The carne asada dish is NOT flank steak. It's probably a roast beef. Could've used a topping because it didn't have the fatty texture the flank steak has - I asked for chimmichurri but it's "Argentinian". It's not Mexican but it pairs well with a carne asada dish. read more

My family and I frequent Casa Luna and it's our favorite Mexican restaurant nearby. Food: everything that we have is consistently good. Some of are favorites are the chicken chimichanga (packed with flavor and covered in a delicious sauce), shrimp mojo de ajo (not picture but a must have) and the buffalo wings. It might feel strange to get buffalo wings at a Mexican restaurant but they're my favorite here. Ridiculously crispy and a good size. Service: our servers have always been great. Everyone is really kind and will consistently check in. Ambiance: I have to get an update picture but they recently redid the inside and it's really nice. The space is warm and inviting with bright decor. Value: all of the dishes are reasonably priced. Definitely check out their lunch specials or taco Tuesday for a great deal! read more

The guacamole to start was good, the chips were decent, and the salsa was enjoyable. For dinner, I had a Suadero Taco Platter. Ordering it with rice and beans I was somewhat surprised with a ball of rice and beans in a small cup but on the good side that left the tacos alone. The other item of note was that these tacos were impossible to pick up. They were really a knife and fork thing and that was okay with me. The taste was the real surprise and I thought they were outstanding! This is in a part of Somerville I did not even know existed. It is not that far off the main drag but you do wonder if you are looking at the map correctly when walking to it. Speaking of walking to it... there is parking at the location part there is a total of three or four slots so that is going to be random luck. Street parking should be open with the location but this is Somerville and depending on the hour and day remember to bring your quarters! read more

Any Mexican place that serves tamales and mole sauce deserves special attention! The (free!) chips are fried in house, you bring your own beer and wine, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Maybe I'm grading on a curve here but I recommend Casa Luna highly. We visited on a quiet weekday night. Started with the obligatory nachos, $12 for a big platter, very good. They still make chimichangas, big old burrito deep fried, what's not to like. I tried the Casa Luna platter, a combination of my two favorites, a tamale and an enchilada slathered in Molé sauce, plus sides of rice & beans *and* two perfectly cooked shrimp! Very fairly priced at $19. The enchilada needed a little more sauce tho. All desserts are about $5, we tried the flan which was super dense and extra yummy. Vegetarian rating: 3 stars, vegetarian quesadillas and a veggie burrito are your main choices, really should be trying a little harder, I didn't ask if the beans are made with meat. Over the past several years, I have either dined inside or ordered delivery for a work lunch or to home. It has been awhile since my last visit, so yesterday I decided to walk in and order some lunch to go. The server was a 1 person show in the front of the house, managing her few tables and assisting me with my to go. I believe her name was Rachel. Oh, I hope I remembered her name correctly! She was so sweet and super helpful even offering to open the door for me when I was leaving since my hands were full. I ordered the full rack of ribs with extra bbq sauce and rice. I also ordered another item, but I can't write a review on it since that order was not for me. I meant to take pics of my meal once I got home but chose to dig in first; therefore, the pics became a distant thought. I was focused on that delicious plate of ribs in front of me. Next time! It was filling, the ribs were tender, nicely cooked, and the rice was a nice complement. I then washed everything down with a mango Jarritos. I also ordered the mandarin Jarritos for later. I've ordered from here via delivery service twice in the last month and a half. The first time I didn't write a review, because genuinely the next day I couldn't really remember what I had eaten or if it was good or not (it was chicken empanadas and enchiladas). Still, I was craving some Mexican and gave them another shot. This time, my meal was more memorable - shrimp burrito mojado with extra spicy salsa on the side and a slice of tres leches cake. The spicy salsa was HOT but full of flavor. Tres leches was absolutely soaked in milky goodness but still retained its structure in my fridge. Maybe next time I order it'll be back down to a 3 star, or maybe my first was a fluke. No issues with the delivery - everything in my order was there and the time estimate was accurate (both times it was a little earlier than anticipated, which I appreciate). read more

Boycotting this place. They used to be so good, what happened?! I got chicken fajitas to go. There were FOUR tiny pieces of chicken with a PLETHORA of bell peppers and onions. The cilantro white rice was really just white rice. $22 an order, barely any meat and my husband is still hungry. Very disappointed. Rice was so bland, my dog wouldn't even eat it. Ordered delivery from them today. I ordered a three taco meal which comes with a side of rice and beans. Order arrived with just one taco in a small plastic container and no rice or beans. I called the restaurant to let them know, instead of apologizing they were rude and told me to go get a refund from the delivery service. It was very obvious that the fault was on the restaurant and not the delivery person. One star is because the guacamole was not half bad. ABSOLUTELY wonderful experience. Even during this covid quarantine ... this restaurant exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to try it in person! First - I ordered enchiladas , but there was no option to have one beef one chicken and one cheese. I wrote a note to see if that was possible..and they did it ! With no extra charge. Second - the food was separated cold from hot , which was so nice. The food arrived in perfect condition, nothing was soggy or misshapen. (this is partially due to the driver being cautious). Third and fourth - the food tasted amazing! My favorite was the sweet savory mole sauce, and there was quite a bit too so everything had extra flavor. We ordered a side of chips and guacamole; and I'm so glad we did ! There was SO much guacamole and it was delicious. Chunky with onions and tomatoes , just the way I like it. The prices were also super reasonable for a decent amount of food, so that is always a plus. We will definitely be back once quarantine is over :) read more

Mexican street corn dip is just like cold corn pasta salad. We were expecting it to be warm and like real street corn, no idea what the sauce even is in this. Tacos were not great even for $3. Chicken soup was pretty decent even though at first they brought the 'chefs soup' which was green and just horrible. Chicken quesadilla is pretty basic, not worth $16. Chips are free the first round, the second round is $6. Salsa wasn't the best out there but was decent. read more

Have only been here once but will definitely be back! They gave lunch specials which makes it easier to try out new restaurants. To start, they are BYOB which is always great. Their menu is pretty big and has a lot of options, we got the nachos to start which were way better than I expected. The chips were not greasy at all and there were enough toppings so we didn't have any dry chips at the end. Very delicious. I also got the chicken mole enchiladas as my meal which were really flavorful, not the best mole I've had as I like mine a little more spicy but def good. It was more on the sweeter side but I love how they have mole (lots of places don't). The only downside was that the waitress never came around to really check on us even though it wasn't crowded at all. But def enjoyed the food, I'll be back! read more

This will be the new hideout! Going out he wanted Asian and I wanted Italian so we compromised and got Mexican. Definitely were not disappointed in our decision. Our server Kelvin was so helpful and hilarious. He made great suggestions. They didn't have many options for a vegan/vegetarian dinner outside of the sides and a few veggie options but Kelvin suggested the Veggie Enchiladas in a mole sauce and it did not disappoint. Flavorful and filling. The beans and rice on the side were great tasting, I just wish I had more. My friend had the snapper tacos and I knew he loved them the moment he bit in, closed his eyes and savored the flavor. He examined the taco and was very pleased that it was a nice size fillet inside rather than chunks. It was evident the food was fresh and it didn't take long to come out. we will be back a hundred times!!! I originally placed my order through door dash and had issues with delivery so I went to pick it up. Door dash ended up canceling the order the food was inevitably tossed. when I got there, the owner or manager, I'm not exactly sure offered to remake the order. he has no idea how much I appreciated this because to say the least, it's been a day, and a rough one at that. He was so nice and threw in an extra goody because I was starving and pregnant. on top of their great customer service, the food was excellent! My class and I visited Casa Luna for a tour of the restaurant and Chad was extremely welcoming and kind. He showed us all of the areas of the restaurant and we were happy to learn about how everything is done. The just recently added new decorations and everything looked so bright and colorful. Stopped by for the first time on a Saturday night for dinner. We had a short wait of about 15 min for a table for 2. We placed our drink orders and were served a basket of complimentary chips and salsa. We had some buffalo wings to start and they were really good crispy and spicy. I ordered the chicken chimichanga without guacamole which also comes with a side of black beans. I thought it was just ok. My fiancé had one of their specials for the night the Red Snapper a la Diabla which was served with cilantro rice and salad. He enjoyed the entree with the exception of the salad he said he really didn't care for the dressing. Now onto my favorite part of the meal... Dessert. I had the Strawberry Cheesecake Chimichanga and it was delicious! I would return just to eat this again crispy creamy tasty with some vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and caramel sauce... just delicious! Our server was great also very nice and friendly.
