I imagine it's difficult being right next door to another Mexican restaurant (Las Margaritas), but we chose Pancho's. Chips and salsa came out quick along with a cheese sauce. The salsa was a bit too watery and the cheese sauce was very thin, but I was glad they brought it with the chips. I ordered Roberto's Special, basically arroz con pollo with a side of rice and beans. The chicken was grilled well and being smothered in cheese sauce, chorizo, and onions didn't hurt. The Al pastor street taco was fine but lacking in some flavor. You can pancho (punch your) ticket to this place when craving Mexican food. Not my best pun I know! read more

Had a great lunch here. I had not been in a long time, and now regret that. Their lunch menu is very lengthy, with lots of items well beyond the usual "mix of taco enchilada or tamale plus R&B," such as fish entrees and smaller sizes of traditional entrees. I went with a simple arroz con pollo, but it was SO tasty. I did not drink this day, but they have lots of beer and drink selections. Some very interesting-sounding mixes were advertised. I was in the mood for Mexican food on a recent business trip to Alcoa. Pancho's was a short drive from my hotel so I decided to give it a try. Traffic was terrible on my way there, so I really appreciated the brightly lit exterior making it easy to spot. I was greeted and told I could sit wherever I would like. Chips, salsa, and a small white cheese sauce were all delivered to my table as soon as I sat down. My waitress appeared a moment later to get my drink order. I decided to try their Tropical Margarita and the Pancho's Special. The margarita was delicious and the Pancho's special could have easily fed 2-3 people. I was stuffed. My only complaint was that I didn't care for their chili relleno. The fried exterior coating reminded me of pancake batter that was sweet and a little greasy. The service and food were both great. We were greeted immediately upon entering and our server quickly came over to offer drinks and chips. Throughout our meal our server as well as other personnel checked on us for any needs. We had their combo fajitas which was probably the best I've had in tennessee. While the chile relleno was good, it could have been a little hotter in temperature. But overall it was very good and will definitely be back! read more

My parents took us here the other night because it is their favorite Mexican restaurant and we are in from Arizona. The food was just as good as our very traditional Mexican food we have access to in Arizona so that is a huge compliment. The white cheese sauce is a great addition as it is not common in AZ at all and I've never seen it in Mexico but apparently very common here in TN! Cece did an amazing job with service she knew what we needed before we ordered it!! We will be back! read more

November 2nd 4:35 pm We've been to a couple of Mexican style restaurants here in Tennessee and a lot of them have been very lackluster. Especially moving from Az 2 months ago where Mexican was abundant and very tasty. After all day of moving into our new home we had built up an appetite and my wife suggested Mexican food and not gonna lie I kinda cringed considering we haven't had good Mexican food since we've moved. So I said ok and then drove 5 mins down the road and wound up at Ponchos. The atmosphere was very Mexican vibes from the chairs to the table and the music was great. The chips and salsa were decent needed a little salt but overall good. The cheese dip wasn't my favorite but it wasn't bad just a bit on the loose side then I would've liked. Wife ordered a large margarita for $8 which was very well priced for the size she got and I ordered a dos xx beer and beer when it comes in a frosted mug just hits different. Wife ordered a combo plate of tacos and cheese enchiladas. The enchilada sauces was so good and the cheese inside was melted. I know that's a weird thing to put here but you'll be surprised how many times she's has ordered that and the cheese is a solid block. I had the menudo which was ok only because I've never had it without hominy. Hominy actually makes a difference in menudo. But with all that said the broth was very flavorful and the meat was delicious. My daughter had a chimichanga and it too was very good and a big portion sides were very good as well. My son had the beef nachos which were not good at all. It was smothered it the cheese dip with very little beef. He did not like it at all. I had a bite of it as well and it was not good. Our server Fanny was amazing she took very good care of us and one of my favorite things to see servers do is to remove dirty dishes from the table as they go. Most places for some reason don't do that. Overall the 4* rating was because of my son's food being terrible and maybe looking into putting hominy into the menudo. read more

So so.. that's what we got on our first visit. I would give a 2 star but if you are looking for an Americanized Mexican restaurant then you are in luck. Salsa, cheese dip (honestly can't call it queso), and chips hit the table. All super bland with not much flavor. Margaritas were about what you get from a store mix. Okay but nothing special. We asked for one spicy and they cut up pieces of jalapeño in it. Guess that worked. Entrees were hot but again nothing to write home about. Service was great. Prices were reasonable. The BEST Mexican food I have had in a very long time. Been hearing about this place and just never came in. Their handmade corn tortillas are exceptional! Be sure to dress for al fresco dining as this restaurant appears to have no heat. Nothing really special about the food. I had the shrimp al Diablo. The was no heat to the sauce ( which I was hoping would heat me up). The servers were acceptable but when you needed something they were all gathered in tables outside the kitchen with their faces buried in their phones. My fajitas were from the lunch menu but were larger than I could finish. The chicken, onions & green pepper mixture was cooked perfectly and had that sumptuous grill flavor. He was happy to check with cooks regarding food allergies. Drinks stayed full. Bussing of plates could have been quicker - we often had a lot of extra clutter on the table. After a long hike, this was such a great find! Great service with great food is exactly what we needed, and is what we got at Pancho's. Chips and salsa were at the table promptly. Our server was very friendly and available. I ordered the al pastor tacos. I devoured them. My one friend ordered the chimichangas and other friend ordered a chicken entree- they devoured their meals too. From the chips and salsa to our entrees, everything was delicious!
