I've been craving authentic tacos and sopes since I left Florida almost a year ago and nothing has lived up; until now. The Al Pastor tacos and the Chorizo sopes were awesome. Served just right with Cilantro and Onion; no lettuce or tomato or that junk. On a side note- the chips and salsa weren't my favorite- I like a thin salsa; this was chunky, pico style; but the ice tea is fresh brewed per glass with a slice of lime! I've been eating at Pancho tacos for years with my family! Food is incredibly delicious and authentic Mexican! Prices are pretty decent and the portions are GINORMOUS. My only complaint are the waitresses. They take really long to attend and don't check in very often. The last 5 times I went I waited about 20-30 minutes just to get my bill! Hearty reasonably priced real Mexican food. Plenty of veggie options for vegetarians. Many Mexican beers available. The veggie quesadillas and the veggie nachos grande are particularly good. You definitely leave full and with a smile. Staff has enough English to get you exactly what you want to eat. And this is not a ChipotleSlightlyMex for White People! This is the REAL THING!!! Lots of the other folks eating (and drinking beer) know this is it because it tastes like Grandma made!! This place rules, reasonably priced single tacos with homestyle ingredients and flavor -- radical burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, you name it. To top it all off, house margarita on the rocks comes in what seems like a small fish-bowl and it's not too watered down. Chicken mole was VERY good. A little to greasy for my tastes but the price points are pretty dang good. Guacamole was great, very pleased with that. They are very quick and generally pretty smiley. My GF liked that they had vegetarian options (whatever those are) read more

I'm 18, and I've gone there just about my whole life. It's basically tradition that every sunday after church, we'd go to Pancho's tacos. We'd even see the owner at church while in session Ha! I'll admit the name sounds cheesy but it's as authentic as it gets. You walk inside and they have soccer on the TV, spanish music playing, and a table ready for you. I've never had to wait for a table, but I've also never felt like I've been alone dining, tons of families and friends ate there. The food is just as authentic as it gets. It's all made fresh and made just the way you like it. The servers care for your needs and will even help you out. They have respect for the customer and will be your friend for the night making jokes with you. Their dessert is also fantastic. HIGHLY recommend the Flan, it's super delicious. All I wanna say is that if you wanna feel like you're eating in a Mexican household, go to Pancho's tacos Mexican restaurant! read more

I like this place a lot but compared to Panchos this is in a higher price range. both places give big portions which is good , but I rated this 4 stars because some food items need work on the seasoning and service could be more attentive. read more

Very good food, the tacos are amazing. Stay away from their beans it will mess you up. The location sucks you are surrounded by drunks. But still their food is really good this is an authentic Mexican restaurant with real Spanish food, so if thats what you want go and try this spot out. I don't give five star reviews often, but when I do it's because of experiences like this. This restaurant is the absolute best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. Be forewarned; the portion sizes are huge. If you're alone, ask for a smaller size or be prepared to take a box (which the patrons are ready for, they really pay attention). Everything is absolutely fresh. The salsa with chips served as an appetiser is house made and fantastic. The food itself represents some of the best Mexican I've had; fresh salad (avocado, grilled zucchini, tomatoes, lettuce), grilled seasoned meat garnished with grilled green onions, fresh tortillas, filling yellow rice with corn and refried beans served as a small feast. There is a full bar, with most every authentic Latino liquor and beer you can think of. There are TV's with Latino sports and entertainment. The restaurant is open, spacious, bright and warm, decorated with effects that really make you feel like you experiencing Mexico. We decided to give this place a try after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. Honestly, I don't see what the fuss was about. My husband and I had lunch there on a Sunday afternoon, along with our two and a half year old son. There were a few patrons already seated, but the restaurant was far from busy. We were given chips and salsa almost immediately. My husband ordered some guacamole and a tamale to start with. Most of the chips were stale and the guacamole did not taste fresh. My husband commented that his tamale was mediocre. When our entrees arrived, I was surprised to see that the beans looked like they had been poured out of a can and weren't the refried beans I'm used to seeing at a Mexican restaurant. The steak in our entrees was cut too small and was overcooked to the point of dryness. My son only ate half of his food, which is rare for him. The waitress did not check on us once throughout the meal, never refilled our water glasses and did not ask us if we needed anything. All in all, we were disappointed with our meal. The food was mediocre and the service wasn't great. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

WTF are these people thinking leaving good reviews?? Living in San Diego I know I have been spoiled with excellent mexican food, but this isnt even edible! I wonder if the cooks/owner have ever even been to Mexico?!? The cheese in quesadilla wasnt melted AT ALL, the salsa is like red water...and it just goes on and on. I'm not from this area and consider myself -- especially compared to locals -- well-versed in Mexican food and Mexican restaurants throughout the country, especially LA and the SF Bay Area. The food I've had from this place is OK -- some things are better than others -- but the service is inconsistent. My first experience couldn't have been better. The next time we went, I noticed a scowling guy sitting near the entrance wearing an apron, scrutinizing the people who came in. I guess he didn't like us because our bowl of chips was so pulverized I could have snorted it. I asked for carnitas with a green tomatillo sauce and they brought out a grilled pork chop with their green salsa. When I asked the waitress about it, she couldn't understand my question. We haven't eaten there since but we've had takeout several times. Half the time, there's something wrong with the order, like this past weekend. And I always ask them to read the order back to make sure it's right. Relative to other reviewers, Tracy W. and I have similar backgrounds and perspectives and I concur with her review. read more

This place is definitely authentic, which is nice when you're used to chain restaurants serving Americanized Mexican food. My brother and his friends were regulars here when they attended WCSU just down the street, and I'm glad he introduced it to me. He gets something with "diablo" in the name, - it is extra hot, but he loves it. If you love spicy food, try it. Great guacamole and fresh salsa - love the burritos and quesadillas. Also love the juice drinks they have in the fridge - self-serve if you want to try one. I tried a strawberry one that was delicious, and a mango one which was also good. read more

I'm from San Diego and have spent a great deal of time in Mexico. This is the real stuff. If your idea of Mexican food is El Torito or tex mex, you may be dissapointed. The quality of the tamales is always a good tell. Few restaurants offer them because they are so difficult. These were excellent. The fajitas and meat dishes are as good as any I've tasted in Guadalajara. It's authentic and may not be for everyone, but for those who love real Mex, this is the best I have found in NE. A few of the dishes have some real heat, rare to find in NE. not fancy at all, in fact a bit of a dive, but watching the soccer match on the TV in Spanish is a nice touch. The food is simply not good. I wanted to like it, I really did - the service was alright (not too attentive but very friendly), the bar seemed well stocked, the location is convenient. I got a burrito and it was just a soggy mess. It was literally dripping with each bite. The onions were lazily chopped - I bit into what seemed like a whole onion at one point. The guacamole had no flavor. The only good parts of my meal were the rice and chips and pico de gallo. I will not be returning. read more

I normally rely on Yelp (sometimes others) for some flavorful recommendations on ethnic foods. So when I searched for a good Mexican restaurant in Danbury, Pancho's looked enticing. However, it is anything but..... We took out and each of our dishes were less than full with chicken, and pork. They completely forgot the Mexican cheese in the tostadas. The salsa was bland at best and the Capasina's was decent but I had to use a microscope to find the pork. While the prices were reasonable, I guess the old adage applies; you get what you pay for. I"ll keep looking for good Mexican food in Danbury and the surrounding areas. read more

Came here with great expectations according to the reviews. Food was authentic Mex but service was poor. In fact, our lunches arrived 1/2 hour after we ordered and were cold. Both of us had "stomach issues" soon after eating that lasted about 24 hours- "Danbury's Revenge ?" Not cheap either- 2 entrees, no drinks and no dessert was $35.
