I used to love this place but I think the cleanliness has gone downhill. Usually a 30min wait and pretty good al pastor tacos. The one thing we noticed - they weren't cleaning out the salsa containers, just refilling them after one table was done and then putting them out for the next table. My brother wanted to try some authentic tacos in PV. We searched on Yelp and found this place. It had so many positive reviews and looked authentic so we decided to give it a shot. Usually there was a line every time we passed by this restaurant. However, luckily, there was no line this time around. We were seated almost immediately. We ordered 4 mushroom tacos and 4 rajas tacos. The server was kind and ensured we were well taken care of. They had 4 complimentary sauces to try alongside the tacos and we couldn't wait to dig in. The rajas tacos came out first. I must say, the portion size was big. The rajas looked well roasted and creamy. The tacos were delicious and flavorful. I can't believe onions and poblanos can taste so good. The sauces enhanced the flavor of the taco. The onions and poblanos were cooked to perfection. The mushroom tacos also tasted great but I loved the rajas more. Towards the end, we realized that they only took cash. Tacos so good, they will make you cry. This little hole in the wall has the best tacos I've ever eaten. My brother and I STILL refer to these as the standard we rate all tacos by. They give you four sauces with varying degrees of heat that make them "chef's kiss". Then add the mango margarita with tajin rim and you have the perfect easy meal in Puerto Valente. We have been to both locations in Puerto Vallarta and the food has been excellent at both locations. We really loved that the grilled pineapple that was spinning over the spit of pastor. The salsas and dips that they provide are to die for. the green salsa especially is so good to drench your pastor and tacos in because it's so fresh and not overpowering. It's not too strong and doesn't take away from the flavor of the meat. they also have other salsas that have more heat to them and are really good; my only complaint is they only take cash! we were obviously tourists visiting from out of the country, but it would be nice if they took credit card or something of that nature. read more

Got here around 6ish on a Thursday and thankful we just missed the crowd right after us! This was our last dinner in PV so we had to try the local staple. The al pastor here comes in HUGE portions. We def ordered more than we could stomach so be prepared for the stacks of meat they pile on each taco here. Much respect on the amount of meat but I could actually use a little less proportionally haha. Can't complain though. Flavor was very good and their guac was amazing. Holy WOW, Yelpers save the day, yet again: By far, the best al pastor tacos I've had in my life! Their location is a bit off the beaten path, but absolutely worth seeking out. They've got a smaller spot, but it's on the corner and has plenty of room to accommodate the masses. Their al pastor and pineapple is spit roasted and shaved thin, with crispy bits all throughout... thrown on top of their (homemade?) tortillas, some cilantro and onion and you've got the best damn, authentic Mexican taco ever! To top it off they've got an amazing set of salsas they bring to the table... all vary in heat and flavor. 1st up was a medium smoky chipotle type, 2nd was more a guajillo/Chile del árbol spicy variety, 3rd was an onion w pineapple habanero... last 2 def had heat! These were coupled w sliced lime wedges and the finale, an avocado/crema sauce. Oh and that side order of grilled onions and jalapeños is a must! I counted about 13 tables, all of which were fully occupied before, during and after out visit. We found patrons were locals, ex pats, and world travelers...all well represented. Two words : al pastor!!! Doing it and doing it wow & WELL!! This is their signature. My last trip to Puerto Vallarta this was the first place I went to for tacos...pretty blessed to set the bar high. Since then tried many other al pastor places and they just miss the mark. Every element here's on point -meat flavorful and moist (not dried out and over done like many places), tortillas- fresh in the Nuevo vallarta location there is a tortarilla around the corner. Pineapple roasted and fresh. The the salsas and onion cilantro really send this into another word. The volcano is essentially the al pastor on a crunchy tortillas and with melted cheese. So tasty! #Go early or late they are open till 2am on most nights. We went at 945 on Saturday and had a shirt wait since we were only 2 person party. #Line of locals (great sign) and tourists form at dinner. The location in Puerto Vallarta was PACKED dinner time and later. They are fast! ordering is on paper see photos. But you can always add on. #Courtesy is that you don't linger as there are usually hungry eyes watching you vying for your table. And... "come on man" don't be that person. There was also a long line every time I walked by, which made the place seem more appealing to try out. The waiting is not an issue with me plus it only took about 20mins to get seated. I ordered the carne asada tacos and the famous al pastor tacos. The three provided salsas tasted good and one was very spicy but still tasted good. The carne asada taco had an interesting after taste (not good) and did not seem of good quality meat. I've had multiple street food carne asada tacos that tasted way better than this and I didn't have to douse my tacos in salsa to try to get some flavors going. The Al pastor taco was a bit better, but don't see what the hype is about it. Definitely not worth the wait for the hype. Also, this place gave me upset stomach for two days. If you want some good ans authentic tacos this is where you want to go. Location Right in the romantic zone, in puerto Vallarta. It basically a taco stand with a few tables inside and most of the seating is on the sidewalk in the front. You will most likely always see a line when they are open, which is only in the evening. The line goes fast and well worth it The Tacos!! The pastor, beef short rib and the regular beef tacos were all amazing. My favorite hands down was the pastor (pork) meat you see on the wheel on the pic. The salsa they have is very tasty but they don't automatically bring out a habanero/pineapple one that they make. If you love heat make sure you get some, the flavor is amazing. If your looking for really good spirit forward cocktails this isnt the place for you. Grab some tacos, beer and shot of tequila.
