Very nice restaurant, we were walking by Pancho's Tacos but as expected there was a line but we were nervous about eating tacos Al pastor since we got sick in CDMX due the meat not being fully cooked. So we walked past the Taco place and found Los Molcajetes. The seating area inside was large, tables were clean and the staff was attentive to the new customers sitting. A few bushy plants here and there so we moved tables twice to find a comfy one as there are fans too and wearing contacts that's not fun. We ordered two cocktails, a Paloma and a Margarita. Both were good, nothing crazy, subtle and came quick. Ordered a quesadilla with mixed meat. Tortilla was good but the ingredients were bland. Def skip the quesadilla is not your expected cheesy bite. Not a lot of flavor sadly. We then ordered a molcajete traditional. It was yummy, with a spicy salsa mole like and a mixture of meats. Came in boiling hot so food was def cooked well. It was so good we ordered one more and a michelada. Go for the main, molcajete left us happy and full. Def get your own, skip the apps unless you're eating tacos for dinner. They looked good as a guy accross the table ordered like 5. Molcajete is a must. Chicken was soft, chorizo crispy and steak tasty and medium. Mortar came in hot and there was a condiment station were you can grab any extra sides you need to custom make your tacos. There was a singer playing music, very nice talent in PV. Our waiter was very polite, friendly, and attentive to his guests. Overall I wish I went again for dinner as I ventured in PV. Some other places were good some bad and some meh. This one stood out well and I certainly recommend if you are looking for a filling dinner with comprehensive prices and seating. read more

Save your money and your calories. Mexican American here who's been to PVR multiple times. I've walked past this place often on my way to Soriana (the local grocery store) and had never seen it open. Well, on this trip it finally was--and sadly, it was 100% disappointing. I understand that street or restaurant food won't taste like home-cooked Mexican meals, but wow... this place missed the mark on every level. Our family ordered volcánes (skirt steak tostadas), skirt steak tacos, and Mexican sausage tacos. Everything--everything--came out at best fridge temperature. For all I know, it could've been yesterday's prep meat. Save yourself the trip and the pesos. Oh, and FYI: it's cash only. One star for the strawberry drink. read more

On our first day in Mexico while walking around to check out the neighborhood be stumbled upon Los Molcajetes. This was our first taste of Mexico and it did not disappoint. The tacos were so tasty. They also had a toppings bar full of not only salsas but radishes, onions, cilantro and so much more. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. The seating was covered but open air which was perfect for the weather. They are also a dog friendly restaurant. I've seen a few Los Molcajetes around Puerto Vallarta since then. If you're hungry for some good tacos I highly recommend them. read more

Our taxi driver recommended this place and said they have the best tacos. We tried pastor, sirloin and chicken. They were all great. To add to already fabulous meat, they have a condiment/salsa bar. Some of the salsas are really HOT , but so yummy!! I loved my tamari do margarita and the beer was ice cold. After dinner we walked about two blocks to the malecon. Definitely recommend!! read more

Sorry but the tacos here are not good compared to authentic Mexican food. Avoid! We should have left because the place was mostly empty which is usually a sign the food is not great. I love Al pastor but couldn't eat mine here. The flavor just tastes off to me. Touristy and flavorless food. read more

Was a bit busy but we were seated right away and the server was great then we ordered, I love the fans and how it kept the air moving it was very humid and it kept the flying insects out! Our food was very good we enjoyed the condiments that accompanied the meal. So good needs a revisit before I leave. Excellent place recomemded by our hotel. They brought out the meat - tender in sauce with fresh tortillas - and had a bar with fresh salsas from mild to hot. All was excellent , as was the dessert from the little shop that services the restaurant ( although not a part of the restaurant). Get the Tres Leches - out of this world. I recomend this place to anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta. read more

A friend and I were visiting PV for a few days and wanted to sneak in one last dinner before we had to leave for our flight. He had this place bookmarked so we gave it a try and I'm glad we did. My stomach wasn't feeling too well for drinking four days straight but I wanted to have one last taco before I left. I ordered the al pastor and carne asada tacos along with a mango margarita. The tacos were great, the meat itself was a bit too salty on the al pastor but the slice of mango perfectly complimented it and balanced out the salt. The mango margarita was nice but a little too sweet for my taste, but it's alcohol so you know i drank the whole thing. They also have an open salsa bar so it was nice to pile on as much sauce as you want onto your food. My friend ordered the al pastor burrito and he said it was one of the best burritos he's ever had. You know that line that forms waiting for Pancho's tacos to open and never seems to go away? Don't tell them that two blocks away is another place with no line and tacos al pastor that are just as good. I was walking past Los Molcajetes one night and hadn't decided yet what I was going to eat. There was a table outside so I decided to give it a try. Really nice place, comfortable seating on the sidewalk - great for people watching. I ordered a tamarind margarita and two tacos al pastor. The tacos were great, so I ordered another. The margarita was also really good. The next night, for my last meal in PV, I decided to return because I was feeling kind of bloated from all of the eating and drinking I'd been doing. I wanted something light - just a few tacos and another killer tamarind margarita. I passed the long line at Pancho's and when I got to Los Molcajetes, it was empty. I took a seat on the sidewalk and then looked more closely at the menu - it was much more extensive. I decided on the personal parillada - beef, chorizo and pastor. It came with 4 fresh made corn tortillas. I asked the server if they had any hot salsa in addition to the ones he brought me and he came back with some spicy pickled onions, a grilled jalapeno and some salsa chile de arbol. The meal was fantastic. A few more people joined me, but there was no line, no crowd. On the way back to my Airbnb, I passed the long line of people waiting for one of the crowded tables at Pancho's. If they only knew - just a few blocks down the street.... but don't tell them. I'm keeping this place a secret. read more

According to Google, it says that they open at 6pm. We got here at 6 and they said that they don't open until 6:30. We came back around 7:30. We ordered and waited awhile for our food. We were so excited to try the tacos since there were lots of good reviews on google. Once we got our food, we were all disappointed with the tacos. It was the worst tacos we've ever had. Wasn't expecting this place to be so good! In fact I had just walked right by it thinking nothing of it. We had asked a local woman where to get tacos and she pointed to Los Molcajetes which is a Street viewed outdoor little restaurant.All outdoor seating. My husband ordered the Ranchera plate, The first bite was seriously the best piece of meat I've had in a long time the griller really knew what he was doing. Fresh made homemade tortillas made to perfection! I had to quesadilla with pastor, sooo good!We also ordered platano desert that was the best ever. I ordered rib eye tacos. It smelled delicious walking in, totally fooled me. The meat was old and cold. Probably sitting there for sometime and only reheated on the grill. There's an island with different salsas, beans and other stuff. That as well was old, the whole time I was there not once anyone checked on any of the food there. We stayed at the Comfort Inn for a couple of days and found this place right next door. It is small with outdoor seating. The price is great and the food is even better. We tried the pastor tacos which had fresh pineapple on top, arrachera quesadilla which was so tender, and a bean taco which was complimentary. Everything was so good and fresh! There was a lady making handmade tortillas which made all the difference in the world. They have the sales on the counter along with onions, cilantro, cucumbers, radishes, limes, and beans. Service was fast and friendly. It was so good we're going back today!! read more

I eat here once a week at least. It is a great place for a quick good meal that is well under $100pesos. A lot of the time I can grab a meal for $50 - $60 pesos. Good quality meat and all the trimmings and sauces. read more

Be very careful and keep menu so you can challenge them when they bring bill. What should have been a $260 rib eye became a $490 rib eye and we had 3 of them. I understand this is a tourist town but an not used to such blatant creative billing in what should be a legitimate restaurant. Food was good, prices very reasonable and the best part fresh hand made tortillas. In my opinion the salsa makes a good taco great and their salsas didn't disappoint flavorful and spicy.. The waitress wasn't the best she had an attitude, but the food made up for it. NO BEER is sold here read more
