Lady who runs this place is super friendly. Buffet was around $11 including tax for lunch, and for that price its hard to go wrong. I wish there would have been some seafood dishes like crabmeat cheese or shrimp dishes. Crispy noodles for the soup would be nice. Overall though if you are in Pittsfield, there aren't many choices on where to dine. This place is as solid as most Chinese buffets. Chicken dishes I tried were all tasty. I have business to do in Pittsfield, and being on a diet where I don't eat red meat or fried food, this is about the only real option in town where you can get food that is remotely healthy. I have to say, we ordered take out tonight for the first time ever and all was super fresh and delish! Normally we get Chinese from another town, decided to try Panda in Pittsfield and wow! Game changer. As a family we ordered sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, had fried rice along with white rice, broccoli beef and egg rolls. Grease was fresh and clean which makes a huge difference, everything tasted freshly made, full of flavor and all was hot even after a 25 minute drive home prior to eating. After reading a few negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive. I will say, from here on, our go to is Panda in Pittsfield. Went to this place with my family this evening just trying new places on our long drive home. The trays were pretty much empty or had hardly nothing in them when going up to the buffet. There really wasn't a lot of options, and nothing is labeled correctly so go fish on what you are getting. The "desert" options were next to nothing, other than store bought ice cream/sherbet. Half of their lighting is out so it was dark and dingy. Not to mention.. they charged us dinner prices during lunch hours.. 30$ for me and my husband. The food was... unique that is for sure. Big city Chinese in small town America! I grew up in Pike Co, but have lived all over the country and I consider myself a connoisseur of food in general, but I am VERY picky about my Chinese. I was reluctant to eat Chinese food in Pittsfield, but I was not only surprised by the variety and price, but also the quality of the food. For about $8.99 they had a full buffet WITH crab legs! I was disappointed there was no sushi, but again I would have been reluctant to try it anyway. I tried just about every entree and everything was cooked fresh and with authentic flavor. While there was a good bit a variety, there wasn't a ton of food just sitting on the buffet so you kind of had to time to your trips to it, but that also meant that every trip had fresh food waiting. it wasn't just sitting under a heat light all evening. Service was friendly but a little clumsy, but it appeared to be family run and therefore I give it extra kudos and overlook a bit as these are family members working not 'professional' servers. But everyone was friendly and personable. There is plenty of seating available and large tables than can accommodate parties of up to 8 easily and more with some advance planning and reconfiguration. I am glad there is a Chinese option available in Pittsfield and I hope they continue to provide good food. A definite 'recommend' if you're in the area. read more

Went on a Saturday evening at 5:30 for the buffet. Should have known better based on past experience. Despite the fact that there were only 2 other people in the restaurant the buffet was for the most part empty. What food that was left was dried up or turned to mush. I was surprised it was this good. We're from out of town. Just drove in & got it to go. Hot & sour soup had a good spice but a little lacking in the sour part & way too much tofu. Fried dumplings were a little too thick but there was a lot of the meat stuffing & it was delicious. The shrimp & pork Hunan style kicked ass! Veggies, spice, meat all perfect. This place is always friendly, and the food is delicious freshly cooked...they have VERY good Hot and Sour soup. I haven't found another that I like so much for soup! The dumpling soup is yummy, too. If there's something that you want and it's not on the buffet, all you have to do is ask and they'll bring it out to the buffet in no time. Your waitress will sometimes bring you a small starter fresh off the buffet when it's first brought out (I had my baby with me, so that may have been why). The food is about average. It's neither bad or the best I've had. I think it's more of a commercial style chinese, and not so much "authentic". This can mean "american-chinese" food, for those foodies that know what I mean! The place has a small town feel. The owner's children usually have their bikes parked out front after school and sit in the store and do homework. It's family owned, and operated, except for the waitresses (usually). Those are mostly local gals. I have lived here for 4 years and this is the first time I've been here. Definitely NOT the best. For a small town people probably think it is the best because they have never had Chinese food anywhere else. There was only 1 waitress and the buffet was lacking choices and pretty empty. I've been to this Chinese restaurant since I was very little, my little brother went through a phase where he would only eat Chinese food at this restaurant anyother restaurant he would refuse to eat it got to the point that he would refuse food at home we went to the dr. and he said "try to get him to eat his favorite foods that he likes at home but atleast 1 or 2 times a week take him to the Chinese restaurant so that he's actually eating something" so like he said once or twice a week we went and I remember that the owners where nice enough to give him is meal free because he was the only one eating bc we all ate there whay too often I remember sitting at the table doing my math homework until my brother was finished eating anyways to get to the point I was saying before I get distracted again both owners at the Chinese restaurant the previous and the current have always been very kind to my family the current owners now even gave me my first job when I was 16 because no one else wanted to give me a job without experience but how is a 16 year old just getting into the work field gain experience without getting experience (I'm 18 now and I no longer work there). I love the current owners to death and every time I come to eat they make sure to give me a big hug and ask how I am. The food is the best I love there peanut chicken it's the best I've ever had and they have now added an assortment of different icecream flavors instead of there little icecream machine they had I love the experience every time I visit this restaurant with both there very nice greetings and there delicious food read more

The worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I've tried the buffet, I've tried to order from the menu; it's all gross! The General Tso's chicken doesn't have close to the flavor of what General Tso's is known for. The pepper chicken tastes almost identical to the Tso's. They bring the food out in a steal pot to the buffet. Last I checked most Chinese food is prepared in a Wok. I could be wrong. The food is terrible. The smell of moth balls hits you when you open the door. However, being on the road from Chicago with 3 small children we decided to give it a try. Walking up to the buffet, it looked as if the food had been sitting out all day. Chicken nuggets sounded like rocks hitting the plate.
