Food is good. Your typical panda can't really complain. Portions are small and availability is a joke. I have tried this location multiple times. Everytime they have been out of rice and not making more until asked. Half the meat selections have been empty each time. Today was my final straw. Showed up stood in line for a couple minutes with 1 person working the window. 1 cooking. And a couple sitting around the chill area. After standing a few minutes one of the younger women who was sitting with group came up to ask what we needed. We began to order. When asked if here or to go. I said here she pulled a plate, I asked if I could get the to go. (As I don't always eat all my food with a plate). She roles her eyes and gets the Togo plate. Then gives me the smallest option of rice I've ever seen. When I asked if I could have a little more. She dips the edge of the spoon and puts maybe 20 pieces of rice in my plate. I thought she was joking so I asked if I could have just a little more. She tells me that is the new portion size and she would charge me for anymore. I eat panda 3-5 times a week. I travel for work so I've eaten more panda than anyone you know. And when I tell you the portion was less than a bowl. I couldn't believe it and just told her we would go somewhere else. Looking at all the reviews it seems this location has been like this for a while and won't be changing. I know it's a drive but State College is worth the drive. Parking lots is a few spots agaisnt the building, then shares with local shopping stores. Building is newer and clean. Outside of the restroom which is ruff... but maybe I just went in on a bad day with that. read more

Employees have terrible attitude. Went thru the drive thru, handed over my money and she apparently dropped a dime. She wouldn't complete the order until she got the dime she dropped (gave her a 20 so she had enough to cover the bill) so I had to pull forward get out of the car and search in the drive thru lane for a dime, I'm 70. When i found it and put it in her hand she gave me back my money and said she was cancelling my order. Stunned I drove away but stopped and called to talk to a manager. The person who answered gave me a fictitious name and would not let me talk to a manager. She put me on hold to check my story and then came back to say that the managers would need to review the video footage and they would call me back. Still waiting for that call. read more

I'll be honest I had low expectations when this Panda Express first opened, but it has become one of my favorite places to go. The food is always good, and I loved all the entrees I tried. It's also hot and cooked well with a lot of flavor. Their iced tea is the best, too. The employees are always really nice. I've never had to wait that long in the line. read more

I came here on a Sunday around noon. Only one other car was in the drive-thru. The employee who greated me at the drive-thru was wearing a mask & gloves. After taking my payment, they mentioned some time would be needed to prepare the String-bean Chicken Breast. This bit of a surprise I welcomed! Who doesn't like fresh-cooked food that otherwise would just be sitting there? Not long after parking, an employee walked my order to my car. Generally, a bif supporter of Panda express for a quick tasty meal on the go. Food, service and pricing in Altoona has always been good for me including this past week. Only down side is that quite often if you walk in after 6pm there are several empty dishes and you have to ask and wait or feel like you're herded toward your third and fourth choices. So I was contacted by Panda Express to go back and try a meal as a courtesy. I went through the drive through and ate in, two separate occasions. In the drive through I was happy to see the food was better handled and the portions were better. When my fiancé and I ate in we were greeted by the entire staff which was a pleasant introduction. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Glad to see there were some improvements. My only complaint would be that the floors needed to be swept more often as we ate eat right at open and there was food on the floors. Overall well done . read more

Wish I had read reviews before coming to this location. We were in town for a weekend-long convention and arrived to pick up three separate online orders. We waited for 10mins by the order pickup sign, but we were ignored in favor of the line. When I realized we weren't going to be helped, we joined the line and waited another 10-15mins for our turn with an employee. When we were finally acknowledged, they only had one of the three orders done, and claimed the other two orders "weren't in their system" (using quotes not to be sassy, but to encapsule what was said to us). We were then left in favor of helping other customers, as the restaurant was getting busy. It seemed like the employees were simply biding their time and hoping our orders would spontaneously appear in their system rather than completing the orders manually. All the while, we stood idle as customer after customer would be directed around us and helped instead. At this point, no one had asked us for a confirmation number. During this period of waiting, I overheard an employee in all black (who had keys, so I presume he was a supervisor of some sort) say aloud in a stressed and irritated tone, "I'm about to walk out of here". After another 10mins of the employees working carefully around us and avoiding eye contact, I moved us toward the registers in hopes we'd be talked to again. All the employees seemed very stressed and overwhelmed. I had a feeling they were afraid that we'd be belligerent or rude, so they just ignored us and waited for the problem to resolve itself. Finally, an employee apologized, explaining that they were experiencing a rush and that they were sorry to say that they still didn't have those two online orders we had placed nearly forty minutes prior. I asked if they'd be willing to make the orders they were missing manually: I offered to tell the employee what the orders were and suggested we show our order confirmations. The employee explained that she couldn't do this - a manager would need to approve it to happen, and it wasn't within her power to...just make the orders we had the proof of purchasing? Very odd. As she was explaining this to us, however, another employee (the one who was "about to walk out" earlier) appeared behind her and told her softly to "just make the orders", which she complied with - but then she informed us that it'd be another wait for one of the entree items we ordered as it had become empty and needed to be replenished. Even when we finally had our online orders after a total of 43mins of waiting, we still had to ask for additional items like cups for the fountain drinks, and then had to navigate a utensils counter that was out of forks. One of our orders didn't have fortune cookies, but by that point, we weren't surprised and the last thing we wanted to do was reenter and try to get the attention of an employee again. We were late getting back to the convention we were due to appear at, and this small inconvenience wasn't worth the massive inconvenience of dealing with this unpleasant location. Then we ate our food - and though we were all starving from a long day, it was easily the poorest food I've ever had from a Panda Express. The rice and noodles were wildly dry. It was as if it had been sitting out all evening, which is curious. I want to reiterate that I really love Panda Express. We've eaten there many times at locations all over the country and we have NEVER experienced any issues before. We also are truly not the type to complain; we've all had demanding jobs, and we understand that places get busy, and that technology can be unpredictable. But we didn't understand was why other customers were prioritized when we were supposed to have picked up our online orders over a half hour ago. Just because someone ordered online doesn't make them less of a customer somehow. We didn't know why the plan of attack for these employees was just to wait things out and hope a solution presented itself rather than help us out as soon as we arrived like they were doing with every other customer. Overall it was very emotionally draining. And though we had been talking in preparation for our convention about getting Panda Express the whole length of our weekend stay in Altoona (due to the affordable prices and quality food), we never went back again as our schedules are too tight for us to risk having a similar experience. Not only that, but this location was partnered with the convention we were attending and offering 10% for those who showed their attendee badge...so whenever Panda Express came up in conversation, we relayed our story and warned others not to go here. What hurts is that I know Panda can do better, I've seen it. And this is a newer location, which is especially sad. I have a hard time believing a place as mismanaged and poorly organized as this even IS a Panda Express, as this is so far removed from the other Pandas I've been to. read more

Altoona has a new Panda Express, so I went there today for lunch to check it out with a few friends. The place was nice and new and had some booths for four and some nice big tables for a group. Its cafeteria style where you order your food as you move through a line and pay at the end. There were some really good things and some not so good things that we found. First, the entrees that we tried, things like orange chicken, shanghai asian steak, broccoli beef and walnut shrimp were really good. If you're not sure what you want, the server was quick to offer us a toothpick with a sample of a few to try before we decided, I really enjoyed all the entrees. Each meal comes with one, two or three entrees, and a side, depending on your level of hunger. Sides include various rice, chow mein, or mixed vegetables. I had the fried rice and found it a little bland and dry. My friends liked the side they selected, chow mein and the steamed rice. Soft drinks were self serve and free refills where included, but they also had other drinks available. The not so good was the appetizers we tried. We split some egg rolls and spring rolls so everyone could try. Unfortunately no one really thought much of these appetizers and they were left unfinished on the plates. Both were on the bland side, with not much to wet your appetite. They were not nearly as good as some others I have had in town. I would skip these next time and take a look at other appetizers we didn't get to sample this visit. This was too bad because what is Chinese food without an egg roll? All in all it was a decent place to eat, and I am looking forward to trying some of the many other entrees they offered as well as some of the other appetizers while staying away from a few of the more bland items on the menu. read more

Very disappointed. Went in to order food instead of going thru drive thru. Half the bowls were empty and some had little bit of food sort of crusted in the bottom. I ordered walnut shrimp which was cooked fresh the only reason I continued with my order. I ordered my husband the least disgusting looking chicken which he said was awful. The crab/cream cheese rangoons and the egg rolls were both burnt...so I passed on them....a staff person was taking temperature of food and called another staff over and they seemed to be concerned about what they saw, but the food stayed in the serving bowl.... In a town with many options for Asian cuisine, I had higher expectations for this restaurant. When I entered, there were many staff members all standing around. I went up to order and chose the chow mein as a side. I was told they were out of chow mein for the night. This was at 6p. They were also out of the beef and broccoli. This is disheartening when it was only 6p and many staff were just standing around. The food was fine. Not any better or worse than other places. I would rather go to a local Chinese restaurant instead and know the food is being made eight then and they aren't going to be out of something right at dinner time. read more

Absolutely the worst Asian food in the area. I ordered the bigger plate with orange chicken, sweet fire chicken and beef and broccoli with white rice. I received the take out box that was 80% low mein which I didnt order, there was no orange chicken, 4 pieces of the sweet fire and an equal portion of the beef broccoli. I paid for 3 entrees but all 3 combined barely was equal to the smallest portion at any local asian place around. The fried food tasted burnt and the other food was very dry. This was quite honestly the worst Asian food I have ever had... the egg rolls were burnt and dry, the chicken mushroom dish was bland and mushy,the sesame chicken was extremely chewy and tasteless ... the only thing that was ok was the fried rice. Don't come unless you are okay with waiting 10+ minutes for your food. I used to like Panda Express a lot & I usually don't have a problem with waiting for good food but the last time I went was different... I had a long wait and the food was just bad. I was told at the window I was waiting on fresh orange chicken but when I got it (15 minutes later) it was room temperature and hard. I could complain about the sub par customer service but at the end of the day that's pointless, what matters is the food. Don't recommend even for a fast food place. read more

My family and I stopped at Panda Express on Friday for lunch. It was not very busy and took a while to get our food. The prices were a little high for what you got. The dish was mainly all rice. It was raining outside so the floor inside the restaurant was soaked. My 8 year old son fell on the wet floor and about slid through the window beside the door. I told the worker behind the counter about the floor and all she did was put a wet floor sign up. She didn't even take the time to clean the floor up. Love the food but the STAFF is VERY rude. They give very direct and snubbed answers when you ask them something, and overall just seems like they don't want you there. This is a big complaint from overall customers that go to Park Hill's Panda Express restaurant, and I never bothered when people would tell me that, but it's too the point where I've had an employee not speak and stare at me until I got my food and left. Never ordering from this place again. I door dashed an order with four of my friends and upon arrival only three dishes arrived. My one friend ordered just a side dish of just Kung Pao chicken as her meal, while the rest of us ordered regular combos(rice,chow menu, etc.). On the third container they replaced one of my two meats with my friends order of Kung Pao Chicken. They did not give her the side order, they replaced it with one of my meats. I decided to give my friend the container, so i called the restaurant and one of the workers gladly took it upon himself to drive my correct order to me. I gave the lady on the phone my number and waited. After an hour I found it quite suspicious that I have been waiting for so long so I decided to call back the restaurant and see what is the hold up. When I called, apparently the guy who was dropping off my food already tried to drop the food off and he 'called twice'. I asked the lady to then read back the number I gave her, and low and behold she copied the wrong number. I told her my number ends in 96 not 98. Directly after I told her, she replies, "he tried that too". I just want to know the coincidence of someone not answering the phone for the first time and you just magically assume the 8 is a 6? I surely believe he knew to change that one number out of all the numbers in a phone number!after all this time it's been 3 hours and I just simply asked for my money back to which they replied, "we can only give you a discount". A discount for messing up my order, calling the wrong number, then telling me you called the right number when you wrote down the wrong number? I will never be eating here ever again. read more
