I would say that my experience at Texas Roadhouse was pretty good! The wait was not long when I got there, and the staff was incredibly kind. I was also pleased to find that they brought back their iconic peanut buckets. The food came out fairly quickly. I got the grilled chicken and it was slightly overcooked, but other than that, it was pretty good. When my waiter brought my food out, they did forget my ranch dressing, and the cheddar for my baked potato, but he went back and got them right away. Every time I go, I make sure to get some of their ranch because it is some of the best ranch I have ever had. I really like the overall vibe of the restaurant as well. But the mushrooms hid that the steak was mostly fat and gristle. I understand this cut can have a good deal of fat, as it melts and flavors the meet. But I got 3 or 4 bites out of it. It was a waste of my limited money. I put on a good face--it was my birthday and I was with friends. But this was one of the worse steaks I ever had. (second on the list was the prime rib I convinced my friend to get with me at texas roadhouse. Visited this location about three weeks ago and sat at the bar. My food was excellent but my entree came about 2 minutes after my salad and I had to ask for rolls and silverware. Also, my coke was completely flat. Fast forward and this time, I was offered rolls as I was seated. The salad came and then, about 10 minutes later, the entree. The steak was not cooked properly and had no pink at all. It was flavorless and chewy. Strangely, the plate glistened with butter as did the shrimp which had globs of butter on them. The ribs were delicious. I asked for a dry baked potato so I guess they spread the butter all over the plate and shrimp. I actually took a napkin to wipe off the shrimp before eating them. I left more than half the steak uneaten because it was so chewy and flavorless. Sorry, Texas Roadhouse. Not sure what went wrong but neither experience was a good one. read more

I don't often give any place a 5 Star review based on one visit, but I feel Texas Roadhouse deserves the full 5. I recently visited Texas Roadhouse with a couple of old friends from out of town who wanted steak. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. We gave our names and were told it could be an hours wait for a table, but we decided to stay. They took a phone number and told us they would text us when a table was available. It was a beautiful warm Fall evening so we sat outside in the waiting area and spent the time pleasantly chatting with other customers similarly waiting and the hour passed quickly. After being seated we were attended by an absolutely charming waitress, who saw we got everything we needed all night long. She repeatedly checked on us and kept the bread and drink refills coming throughout our visit. The food was excellent. All of us enjoyed their steak. I had the steak and ribs. The sirloin was cooked just the way I liked it, but the ribs were the standout. I must say we all stuffed ourselves and went home very content that night. The Altoona Texas Steakhouse consistently has excellent steaks. I like NY Strip steak and they are always very good and at decent price. I usually pick my own from the display case. The noise doesn't bother me but a lot of people complain about it. It is not a fine dining experience but sure is a great at preparing steaks. Decided to swing by this place. The atmosphere reminds you of Texas, and the employees are very polite and attentive. Our server/waiter was Alicia, she was awesome. We dine there often in the Altoona, pa. location with typically good experiences. The last time I had a hair about a foot long in my salad. It was kind of blown off, and they offered to take the price of the salad off the bill, which they didn't. Today we went back and had the BBQ chicken and sirloin combo. The peaceful bliss it brought to such a sweet February day, can only be described as the Great Drizzle. The sun wasn't shining, the smiles and energy radiated from the Texas Roadhouse staff and created such an exciting vibe throughout the restaurant. The big screens were showing it all...baseball here, hockey there, basketball in this corner, sportscenter in that corner...what you wanted, you got-ted. It was truly epic. ADA regulations & Accessibility were severely lacking in this location. Understanding that there are a limited number of tables available, we came late and checked in online indicating that we needed wheelchair access. The app provided an estimate of 35-45 min wait time. At 35 I checked with the host before getting my friend out of the car into her wheelchair and was advised that the party at the table we would be seated at was just finishing up. All accessible tables were filled with able bodied individuals, nothing available for disabled. We were not seated until another 40 min later after several walk in parties were seated in front of us. The staff at the host station was uncaring and responded that's just the way it is when you have a special need. I was at this establishment on this Tuesday the 8th of January and our waitress was not the best, she kept saying rude comments and hinting to tips the whole time. When a person at our tables was asked for change he said he would not like any and she said thanks for the small tip with a smart comment but he was going to leave more until she came back and said another smart comment about the tip. she then started to complain to the other table about the tips even know we're were going to tip well until she started being very unprofessional. Last year we purchased rib dinners and they were very good. This year they were awful. Everything was cold. I ordered at 5 am for 12:30. Arrived at 12:15. Third car in line. Took 10 min to check in. First guy said we had to go to the booth to pay. We had paid when we ordered. We had the email confirmation. Go to your waiting space. Sat there for nearly an hour as servers ran food to cars not yet checked in or just checking in. I found a server and she said those were the earliest orders. I said our 12:30 was the first time. She said it should be up soon. Here she came in 5 min and put it in the back of our car. 18 min to get home. Looked at the receipt. Why did it say order up at 12:11??? Our food sat and never cane out to us. I was so depressed. Cold and Dried out ribs. Cold fried pickles. Cold green beans. $69.00 wasted Thats the end. I said I would have been happy with subs. There is not much to say except, WOW! This is my favorite restaurant to go to by far! Food is always cooked perfectly, service is great. I think my only complaint is that it is very noisy, the volume of the music is always cranked up. I for one like to hear what people are trying to say me when they're sitting across the table. I went with my parents and my sister a couple days ago. We ordered about 20 min before we got there. My parents both ordered a bacon cheeseburger and steak fries. My sister got an order of fries with bacon and cheese. And I got the country fried steak with brown gravy, steak fries, and seasoned rice. We pull in the parking lot and pay about $45 at the booth. And they tell us to park in our numbered spot. About 5 min later a man who looked to be in his early 20s delivers our food in the freezing rain. I still regret not giving him a better tip, anyway, we got of their complimentary bread rolls and 4 cups of cinnamon butter with our meal, which I found very generous. So I cut into my steak, and it was nothing but a bite of heaven. The fried crust was just crispy enough, the steak was tender and juicy, the best country fried steak I've had. The fries are the best fries I've ever had. They are soft and seasoned perfectly. Then I had a scoop of the rice, once again, they had the best tasting rice ever, it did seem a little mushy though. I had a bite of my mom's burger, and it was delicious. My sister said her bacon cheese fries were delicious, they had melted cheddar cheese and real bacon bits, and they were really good with ranch. Horrible customer service. My husband needed to order our meals before we got there because we needed to eat quickly to get to a child's sporting event. I can understand not seating an incomplete party and tying the table up that other guests could have. HOWEVER, in this case, 5 meals were being ordered, all 5 humans just weren't there quite yet. I feel bad for for the owners that they couldn't hire more intelligent people who understand the difference in this scenario vs a person just holding a table. Our average dinner bill is $200.00, that used to mean something to restaurant owners to lose that kind of revenue. I waited tables for years. People I worked for would have fired me for being so stupid to turn people away. Texas Roadhouse..... where to begin? I came in and was greeted with very friendly, fast service. The environment was a site to be seen! But I am here for the steak, not the view. The rib eye was not only juicy, it was tender, had very small amounts of fat which was surprising because those steaks are usually very marbled but this steak was still packed with flavor, I am not exaggerating this, you take a bite out of that steak and you'll think Mike Tyson threw a fist full of taste right at you. I have a slight history that isn't exactly great with this chain. It actually has always been one of the reasons I dislike most chains. That said, on a recent trip home from Western PA, my travel party decided to take a trip through Altoona to find a place to eat. After driving the strip, we couldn't really agree or decide on anything. Driving up by the newer strip plaza areas, we wondered upon Texas Roadhouse. Everyone was good with steak and even though I have a less than positive history with this chain, we settled on here. I am glad we did. We got there close to 5PM. It was busy but not overly so. We were seated within 5 minutes. While sitting in the wait area, you can peruse the menu on the wall, eat peanuts, or just check out ambience and sights. As another review said, there is a corny line dance routine and a weird cheerleading session every so often. Although this trip, it seemed to only happen once each during our hour in the joint. One member of our dinner party is easily embarrassed by such things and was uncomfortable during awkward moments when one of the male servers danced and regularly made eye contact with him. Unfortunately, I missed this as I was on my way to the restroom during the start of the routine. It almost felt like an odd dark comedy as I tried to make my way to the boys room while trying to dodge young, cute line dancing waitresses. I did make it, though and came back to my friends awkward story. So lets break this down. Service: Absolutely excellent. This was the best service I have had in months. This waitress was attentive, smiled the entire time, was friendly, and even made the extra effort to respond to thank you's as she turned to leave the table. All the food arrived in a timely fashion. She returned to the table every 8- 10 minutes just to check up. She was left with two very generous tips. Ambience: It's loud! It's called The Texas Roadhouse so you should expect that. There are buckets on the table. One for peanuts, one for shells. It is like a roadhouse/bar set up in this way. The decoration is western and local sports themed. Lots of wood and steer themes. It is clean. There is country music playing in the background. The wait staff seems friendly enough and wear shirts proclaiming their love for their jobs. They do a few dance and cheer routines throughout the dinner. Some may dig it. I found it slightly annoying. Food: So this is where this place excels. To start with, you get a basket of sweet rolls with a cup of sweet cinnamon butter on the table. These are a little odd given the theme, here. But they tasted decent. We ordered the sampler platter for apps. It came with potato skins which were filled with cheese and bacon. It had some boneless spicy wings. There were also some jalapeño poppers. These came with side cups of ranch and some type of horseradish sauce. Everything was done really well and tasted great. A true and proper sampler. I ordered the 14 oz. sirloin, medium, with sides of baked potato and green beans. The green beans were served with some onions which were properly mild and were dished with whatever it was cooked in. These were really tender and tasty. Southern style just the way I love them. The baked potato was done perfectly, grill style. Just the way I like it. Now for the steak. Man! This steak was marinated properly. It was cooked perfectly. It was pretty much the best steak I have had in a very long time. Don't get me wrong. We aren't talking Michelin Star steak. I am talking steak house steak. I know the difference. I've had Michelin Star quality steak before. But this was excellent and probably the best standard steak house, chain restaurant, steak I have had. It had everything i look for in such a thing. It had taste explosion. It had a pleasant and beefy after taste. It wasn't overly salty or greasy. It was properly medium cooked. It was perfect. The sum total: 4 stars. Loose one star for being a chain and for the cheesy routines. Also not crazy about country music but it fits the theming so no subtraction on that end. I would highly recommend this particular Texas Roadhouse for the service and taste of food. A real surprise given my experience at the Harrisburg Texas Roadhouse which was the complete opposite. Maybe it is time to give up and try the State College Texas Roadhouse. It's going to be tough for them to compare to the Altoona one. Especially given the excellent service. Good job, Roadhouse. This female manager on 3/19/2024 at 8 PM was one of the worst I have experienced and should not be in that role. I expressed that I have Celiacs Disease which is a gluten allergy. I asked many questions to find out if there was an appetizer that I could get earlier than my meal as I was hungry and could not eat any of the bread that my family had already started to eat. She said they make chili in house and salad dressings in house and I asked what would they put in them that has gluten. No answer just that they has not receommended. She did recommend shrimp that was not on the gluten sensitive menu so that made me nervous. Also, if I were to get a salad my options were no dressing or oil and vinegar. Better knowledge and understanding of gluten in there menu items would be helpful. When asked about fried onions for my steak, I was told they had fresh onions but would not cook them with my steak as they don't accommodate to people like that. They only serve the precooked onions which are in au ju sauce that has gluten in it. Lastly I said watching my entire family eating while they couldn't or wouldn't bring any part of my meal for me to eat until I decided to get up and leave. Only then did a 2nd male manager offer to bring my the potato or green beans from my entree to eat. My waitress and the 1st female manager were perfectly find knowing I was hungry and couldn't eat anything on the table. The lack of empathy in this situation was unbelievable. read more

We were told 15 to 25 minutes to sit, it was 40. No problem. When your called you can pick your steak out of a case. I picked a 1.25 inch thick 21 oz boneless ribeye. They're supposed to write your steak on back of your ticket. When I gave it to waitress she said nothing was written on bak of ticket but theyl match it up with the number, apparently not. Instead of thick juicy ribeye I got a well done flat iron steak. Not a fair exchange since the ribeye was $30. There are so many things my family loves about this restaurant, it has become a goto place for birthday celebrations and casual dining experiences alike. For me, you can't find a better prepared prime rib anywhere else in the area. Prime rib is my preferred dinner here. My oldest son and I normally get the 16 oz. and split it. I also love their salads. Last evening, my wife got a steak, which was also delicious. We've never had any issues with service, and the corporate line dancing the staff does a few times an hour is fun and entertaining. The only knock I would have on it is the loud ambience. Sometimes it's VERY loud. The bar offers a nice selection of beers and other mixed drinks. Complimentary peanuts on every table. You can "saddle up" on your birthday. The children's menu offers a nice selection for even the pickiest eater in your group. We love Texas Roadhouse and I think you will too. read more
