At first, I wasn't sure that this was the PE I actually went to. I've eaten here before but it didn't come up when I wanted to check-in the first time. I think I checked-in somewhere else the first time.. Or something. Oh well. This review is for the Otay Ranch Town Center location. First time I ate here, the chow mien was burned. Like, black and stingy. Ew. The most recent visit there went better. Although, they apparently ran out of the bowls for the Panda Bowls. But the noodles were great. Favorite thing is the Lipton Peach Iced Tea. Not a lot of places have this flavor. Imagine my disappointment when I go to get me some iced peach goodness, and they've run out. Total heartbreak! I'll get over it when I come back and I can get my peach iced tea on. It's a fast food place. Can't really say much else. read more

A guy littery got upset cause he was told to wait outside since he had a dog w/ him and had his wife hold his dog while he came back and FAKE COUGHED all over the place, thinking it's funny and that other customers would laugh or salute him. Sometimes you need a quick meal thats not McD! This location has got to be the stingiest and least tasty of them all! The manager Luis is so not friendly and gives the tiniest of servings! Went a few weeks ago and the rice and noodles were so bland, even soy sauce couldn't help it! The orange chicken batter was mushy not crunchy. Otay Lakes location is better. read more

There's always something with this store, they either forget an item (when I order online for pick up), the managers have the worst attitude and the employees as well. The customer service here is the best! I came in about half an hour before closing and a couple of the things I wanted weren't available, but the staff kindly and quickly made some fresh for me! They even gave me a free drink for the wait which was so thoughtful! This is definitely the best customer service I've experienced at any Panda Express, especially compared to the Main St location. A 2 star rating is being generous. The 2nd star is only there because the food was edible. $12 for a 2 item combo is so over priced especially when the serving size is so small. I went to order a large side of chow mein, and for whatever reason, the server started to put the chow mein on a plate, instead of a large container. I had to repeatedly tell her a large side order, not a plate. I also asked if they were bringing out more chow mein, because there were just scraps of it left, mostly just vegetables and very little noodles. My server ignored me and took out whatever she could and placed it inside the container. I should've returned the container, because it was just ridiculous. Then I ordered a bowl with fried rice and mushroom chicken. This fried rice was undercooked and had a crunchy consistency, with very little taste. The cashier that rang me up, did not even bag my food to go, nor did she offer me a bag. I normally love to eat at Panda Express, but this experience was just terrible. I actually don't even want to give this rating 1 star, it should be 0 stars. Employees at this this location need to pay attention to detail and the needs of the customer. And if they can't even make a fried rice, then they need a new cook. The fried rice was disgusting. Avoid the Panda Express at Otay Ranch Mall on Birch Road. It's best if you try another location, because in all honesty, I cannot recommend this location to anyone. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. First walk in the store and there was a line. Finally get up to order and the guy is riding on the Styrofoam what needs to be put in the box. There's hardly anything premade and ready to go. Everything is getting backed up. We slowly slide down the line and stuff that is there people are trying to take first and they pass us up because the cooks are in the back trying to catch up and make fresh stuff I guess. We finally get order check out and head home. Get home and find out that one of our meals is not in there.. No I head back to the store and confront the manager. Yes me what I ordered and he would give it to me for free. Luis the manager is the worst person ever..... He is rude and he insults costumers... I usually love panda express and I tried a lot of different restaurants of that brand but this one is awful. It was 15 minutes pass 1pm when I got hungry while doing errands with a friend at the Otay Ranch town center. I remember Panda Express. So off we went to eat here. Had the combo chow mein with fried rice (half & half) kong pao chicken and chicken with mushroom, and the other combo half & half with beef with brocolli and pacific chili shrimp. While waiting for my two item to cook, I sat down and took a sip of my drink. To my surprise, Luis who served us on the line brought me our order to the table. I frequently eat at Panda's and never have experienced our food being served. Luis was great. And even asked if we still need anything like soy sauce. I followed him for the soy sauce, he told me that I didn't have to follow him because he will be glad to bring them to our table. Luis was really nice and very welcoming. If you come here to eat, you may get lucky to get your order delivered to your table. The restaurant was clean and orderly. Restroom was clean. And friendly staff too. read more

Smaller portions than other PE's. I agree with one of the reviews though, with their trays being empty during prime hours. I've pretty much had to wait for new orange chicken or chow mein each time I've been there. While the food is lacking sometimes the customer service is usually great, even after watching them put up with extremely rude customers so kudos for that. read more

This panda could be good, but mismanagement keeps it mediocre. I don't understand how they could be open on Christmas. The food quality cannot compare to main street. The location is usually clean since it is usually empty. The fried rice is usually burnt with large white clumps of rice. Even the PE down the street near target is a better choice. read more

The food just isn't good. I don't think I could have Panda Express again. Now, I've had Panda every so often and it was decent Chinese-American fast food. There was something about my food yesterday that was really off putting. It isn't any of the staff's fault they're just doing their jobs. The quality of the food was gross, as if it wasn't real food? I ordered a 2 item combo; half fried rice half noodles, beef broccoli and orange chicken. 2 of the items (noodles and orange chicken) were freshly cooked as I waited in line and they still didn't taste fresh. The meat from the beef broccoli was stringy and the broccoli was over cooked. The orange chicken was basically all breading in a really sweet sauce. The fried rice and noodles had no flavor. I'm not a picky eater, it's rare that I am so dissatisfied with my meal but it was that bad. Never again. read more

The reason why I'm giving this place 5 stars is because I've never ever had a bad food experience with Panda Express! What I also love is that every time I ask for their black pepper chicken (which happens to be one of my favorite entrees there) and it's running low they always quickly(less than 5 mins) whip up a fresh batch for me! I love that this particular location is so close to home and I get attended to immediately with little or no wait. Love that especially when I'm famished! Perfect stop before heading home after a long day at work. Their sesame chicken and fire chicken are two other favorites of mine and my husband's. Very friendly and efficient staff as well! We used to go here but they keep increasing prices, cancelled the reward card, made servings smaller. So we stopped going. Today we thought we can go back, need something quick for our hunger. BAD DECISION. No noodles ready. Got half of fried rice. Disgusted! It tastes old and moldy. I am Asian. I know how good rice taste! How dare you get me sick! Ok, so my fiancé and I usually go to this PE because the other one is so crowded. It has gone down hill since we first started going. The food is usually not to bad but the service is horrible. There is one particular server named Zenda, she is by far the rudest server I have ever encountered. I understand that fast food attendants are not the brightest or nicest but she is horrible. My daughter and I went to Panda Express at Otay Ranch Mall on Saturday June 30 and the staff their is NOT very friendly! The food was okay, kinda oily greasey tasting. My daughter always asks for chowmein noodles and her 2nd course is another serving of chowmein and orange chicken and they ALWAYS give her a hard time when she asks for more chowmein!! One thing that I can no longer stand. I always call to ask if they have orange chicken because they never have any and whenever I call and ask any of the working employees if the manager is there and they hand him the phone, he gives me attitude. Either that, or he hangs up the phone right after I ask. Unacceptable. I don't pay good money and waste time to buy food for the manager Luis to be so rude to me. My buddies and I were originally going to check out a taco shop in the mall, only to find that it had closed at 6! So we ended up going to Panda Express instead. Some student athlete and his dad were very rudely and selfishly taking up the only group table in the place, so we had to take the loose chair at the handicap table. I was the first to order. They were out of orange chicken and black pepper chicken, but they were making it fresh, so I didn't mind. The cashier - Marysol, I believe - very generously offered me a free large soda on the house because of my wait! Most of us didn't get fortune cookies, but I don't like those, anyway. My friends ordered after me and a lot of them also ordered orange chicken, but because they ordered before it was done being cooked, they also had to wait. They didn't receive a free drink, though. One of them got a 10% discount off his order. Anyway, I love this particular Panda Express location because their food is always cooked properly and tastes fresh.
