A few months ago, I decided to dine in and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The place was spotless, incredibly quiet, and not busy at all. Service was impressively fast, too. While I was there, "Cupid (Twin Version)" by FIFTY FIFTY played, which I absolutely loved hearing. I almost started singing it aloud before catching myself--after all, I was in public! Our Panda is consistently bad. Maybe some people here don't realize it since its the only Panda in town and I think for many mies around too. One thing I can always count on is if I sue the drive thru they will always get the order wrong. This visit was no different. Its almost humorus how bad they get it. Right now like many restaurants they have a reduced menu so there are not a lot of choices to screw up but somehow they manage. Often (and this time was no different) the flunky taking our order really didn't care about us or any kind of customer service. He was rushing us the whole time, we had to repeat what we ordered over and over again. And it was clear he was not paying attention. At the window he said he upgraded our order to save us some money. Foolishly, we accepted that and drove off with out opening each container and checking it. Once we got home 20 minutes later, we found almost everything wrong. My wife ordered a chicken teriyaki rice bowl. What she got was a two item order of noodles, dried out chicken, no teriyaki sauce and two spring rolls. I ordered the bigger meal that includes three items. Since there were few items on the menu to choose from we stuck with the basics. I ordered the noodles, teriyaki chicken, pepper steak and pepper chicken. What I got was an egg roll, two spring rolls, noodles, cut up chicken with no teriyaki and broccoli beef. Short one item, and the other two wrong. Oh well, this is how it goes every time. We decided we won't go back until we can go in again, actually see them take our order and place what we ask for on our plate or carry out container seems to be the only way to get it right at this location. I would give it one star, but when its open, its clean, and easy to get things right. And when fully staffed they seem to have their act together and treat us well. read more

They had terrible service!! Super rude. They wouldn't give us but 1 soy sauce for 2 plates of food. The lady that took our was rushing me the whole time. And would sigh when I had more food to order. I felt rushed the whole time. The guy at the window asked if I want to donate a $1.50 and when I said no he then asked if I wanted to donate $1 and when I then said no he asked if I was wanted to round up my Pennies. Ummmm I just said no... when we asked if we could get some more soy sauce he said he gave it to us in the bag. The food was terrible. I didn't get the correct order and it tasted disgusting. I stand by my tip from a while ago: Pick your entree once you get there. The bowls that store the entrees on the front counter are relatively small, but it still allows certain entrees to get to a point of sogginess. Plus, when the entrees get used, the amount of the main part of the entree gets less (i.e. more asparagus than chicken, kind of thing). This is my only complaint though, I promise! The staff is very friendly and they even have drawn pictures of the managers near the soda machine! I enjoy the food when it does not have the side effects of what I described above. The place is generally well kept, which is always a plus. Also, I'm not sure if this is temporary, but you can round up to donate to a charity which I wish more places did. Props! Fast food chains like Panda are infamous for getting people sick, but I am surprised to say this is the FIRST Panda Express since my childhood that did not give me any ailments?! I ordered a chow mein with honey walnut shrimp and broccoli beef and was satisfied with the taste AND after effects (none). The staff were also friendly and the place was clean :) What an odd positive experience to have ran into in Joplin! Will definitely head back and venture for other sides to see if my stomach will continue to hold up LOL read more

Was at the store at 10:47am. it was supposed to open at 10:30 & the chairs were still on the tables-we were told the food was not ready and they weren't open yet. They locked the doors when we turned & left. THERE WAS EVEN AN EMPLOYEE SITTING IN A BOOTH WITH A DRIVETHRU HEADSET ON doing nothing! Get off your hiney, start turning chairs over, open the store on time & take pride in your work. I am a regular customer of Panda Express at least once a week sometimes the food is soggy and old but yesterday was the worst I order the walnut shrimp, teriyaki chicken and rice the teriyaki chicken was disgusting flavor-wise it had a lot of tendons and hard pieces possible bone I believe the rice was from the day before it had a lot of Hart pieces like eating rocks and the walnut shrimp was so mushy and old that it was like eating shrimp mashed potatoes. read more

This is absolutely hands down the worst place I've ever went for Chinese. I went and asked if they had general tsao chicken. They did not. When I asked the guy says " no we don't have that but we have orange chicken it's the same thing " I said ummmm no. I ended up ordering an order of crab rangoon. For a drink and crab Rangoon I paid a little over $5.00. I thought that's not a bad price. Then I went to open them up and noticed hey I got 3 crab Rangoon and they are burnt! The tasted so bad! I have eaten here several times over the years and it was always very good. Tonight, I picked up food in the drive thru to take home for my family . (I live 25 minutes away) I did not get what I ordered at all! Not only was the order wrong but the quality of meat was a weird texture. When I called and politely explained about my order, i was told that unless I brought it back so they could see what I got, they wouldn't do anything about it. The food itself is fairly average. I've been plenty of times, and if you're looking for a place to eat a large quantity of food and conserve time then this place should do nicely. The pricing is typical of a fast food restaurant in the Joplin area. You'll wind up paying about $8-$13 for yourself. It's generally kept clean, though the soda machine area is often a little messy (straw wrappers, spilt soda, etc.). Overall it's very very average, but it will do in a pinch. read more

I was doing 10,000 errands in Joplin that day and got hungry. While stopped for gas I looked around and saw the sign for Panda Express behind me. I asked someone next to me if they'd tried it - they said yes, it's ok - so I googled it first. Eggplant Tofu is what made me go in, unfortunately this wasn't served at this location. This is a different type of Chinese restaurant - buffet viewing style but not eating style. More like a Subway-style, make your own dish restaurant. You pick one or two entrees and a sidedish. You can also grab an appetizer or two. I chose Mushroom Chicken, honey walnut shrimp, with a side of fried rice. Apparently their specialty is orange chicken, because while I was deciding, that got suggested to me 2 or 3 times. I loved the mushroom chicken - a healthy serving of tasty large mushrooms and zucchini with chunks of chicken in a flavorful sauce. The honey shrimp, which added a dollar to the bill because it was a premium choice, wasn't so great. That could be a personal preference but it was also a much smaller serving. Hey I paid $1 more so at least as big of a serving as the chicken right? They fill half your plate with the sidedish but that's understandable because these are definitely budget prices and the rice was good. I left filled. All the food is cooked directly behind the serving counter in plain view and everything in the counter was fresh and hot. The three servers/cashiers were pleasant and polite, one more so than the other two but no complaints. I will definitely go back to try some of their other dishes read more

This was my first trip to a Panda Express. Overall, I was disappointed. First of all, we arrived at opening time and there were no selections on display. The associate ask us to tell her what we wanted and they would cook it. We had children with us, that really needed to see the food before ordering. We waited quite a while for our entrees. The food was ok, but the steamed vegetables were nearly raw. The manager seemed a little testy when we returned the vegetables and the second time they came back, they were still nearly raw Very small portions of protein, they heap the plate with rice "cheap". We ordered the family meal. Husband got the pepper angus. There wasn't hardly any streak in the order. We counted 8 pieces. I don't know why it's a $3.75 up Charge. Our beef and broccoli was mostly broccoli as well. At other places this is what we get for our kids and they fought over the beef since there wasn't enough for a 2 and 4 yr old! When we paid we were told it would be a wait on our food so we needed to pull around, wait 5mins then go back through the drive through. When I got back in line and finally got to the speaker, she said our order was ready. Then we waited in line another 8!! minutes until we got back to the window. Which means our food just sat there. When she handed us the bag, two containers were open and sauce was inside of the bag. Why couldn't an employee have brought our food out to us when it was ready. I've never been to a Panda Express before and I don't want to go back. Also, no broccoli Florettes in angus, just stalks and husband couldn't chew them. Paid $40.99. Sent complaint on their website. Will update if they fix this. Horrible business practices with filling containers with too many veggies to making us wait an extra 15 mins for our food. We are a family that loves veggies, but the containers were like 1/5 meat, 4/5 veggies. read more
