Probably one of the worst run businesses I've ever been to. So slow, no one respects the fact that you have other places to be. I understand that the food is cooked "fresh" but that does not excuse a thirty minute wait for soup and a ham sandwich. They are often out of multiple things. It took fifteen minutes for a latte. I have given them multiple chances and they still fail. Extremely disappointed in the management at this establishment. Could have been great but instead it's a massive flop. read more

The last two times I visited this location, it has taken more than 25 minutes for me to get my food through drive thru each time without an apology from any staff member apologizing for the wait - all for a half of a sandwich and a cup of soup. Never again will I wait like this and I will be going to the closer location and walking in and ordering going forward. In addition, last time I waited this long, they forgot the pumpkin cookie for my 6 year old and I had to go back in and ask for it and the employee had the nerve to ask me if I paid for it after I told her I ordered it in drive through and they forgot it. read more

I love the idea of a drive thru and the food I have gotten there was really good. However... They are always out of a lot of choices. I was there at 7:30 am and they had to check to see if they still had oatmeal. What? I went in the afternoon another day and three of the five things I intended to order were out of stock. Panera Bread is one of the healthiest places to eat. Plenty of salads, soups, flat breads, fruits. Food is fresh every day. Breakfast Soufflé is awesome! (Try the spinach, bacon, egg; triple cheese is so good it is often out). The drive-thru at this location is exceptional. I rarely have to wait more than 2-3 cars, depending on the time of day. Used to be a regular Panera patron, but this will likely be our last visit to this chain. Quality has been decreasing in a noticeable way the last several months. Sandwiches are slowly shrinking- tonight I ordered an Italian and nearly half the sandwich was just bread with no toppings. Sandwiches also almost never come with their pickle on the side and, when they do, it's the skinniest floppiest saddest pickle. Has become a waste of $$- I can get better quality for my money elsewhere. read more

I ordered a steak and cheese panini, and it came out in less than 5 minutes. The workers were extremely nice, especially one that helped me find things around the store, I think his name was Cole. He was super friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and I'll definitely be back read more

I was the third car in line. It took me 25 minutes to get to the window. The employee taking the money was very nice. The food was fine. I got chicken noodle soup. I use the drive thru in the evenings mostly Sunday nights. The wait is almost always excessive. read more

Panera "Bread" ran out of bread so now I am stuck in their LONG drive through line waiting for nothing.

Ordered online at the Panera BREAD on North Ankeny Blvd. on Jan. 2 and went out in sub-zero temperatures to pick up order in drive thru. When I got home (2.5 miles) I discovered that they had not included 1 item that I had ordered and paid for. I called to say that I was on my way to pick up the omitted food and asked if they would "comp" me for the inconvenience of me driving back to pick up the omitted part of my order. The person answering the phone said that generally if the customer does receive their food, they are not "comped" a free meal or sandwich. If I wasn't going to pick up the remainder of the order they had omitted, I would have gotten "comped". I said I thought they needed to "comp" me for their error. I traveled an additional 5 miles to pick up the omitted sandwich plus the 23 min. it took me to return to the store, wait in the drive thru lane and drive back home. She finally said they would do that. When I drove up to the drive thru speaker to place order, I said that they didn't need to "comp" me if they would instead please add 2 baguettes to the sandwich I was picking up. The employee on the drive thru order speaker said "ma'am, we only have 2 baguettes in the store for all of the customers for the remainder of the evening so I can't give you those 2 baguettes". This is Panera BREAD, shouldn't they have enough bread (baguettes) for all customers especially when a baguette is one of the sides offered with meals/sandwiches??? When I drove to the pick up window, the employee handed me the sack and said "sorry for our mistake" without looking at me nor with any attempt of a pleasant expression on her face and then slammed the pick up window shut before I could thank her and to say that mistakes happen and I appreciated them "comping" me. This Panera location should require all of their employees trained on positive customer service, perhaps send them to Hy-Vee or Fareway for an intense training and use those skills as examples of how to treat customers. I am very disappointed in this experience at Panera Bread on North Ankeny Bvld. My previous dining contacts had been favorable. Please, Panera Bread, do something so that your customer service is equivalent to the quality of your food. read more

My mother and I got food poisoning from this Panera. I ordered a frontega chicken panini (which is what I always get) and let my mom have a bite. It tasted different to me, like it had extra cheese. I stated to feel sick with in 2 hours. We both were sick in bed for several days with horrible stomach pain/cramping, explosive diarrhea, nausea, and weakness. I called Panera the next day, the manager said she would have to fill out paper work and corporate would call me.. well, they didn't call me, I even waited a week after the incident. So, I called back and the manager was not there, so she had to call me back... 2 days later she calls and says she will contact corporate again. They finally call me 2 days later, and ask me 4 questions including if I sought medical treatment (I have a $5,500 deductible, so no, I did not go to the dr). And sent me an email 2 hrs later saying that the food was prepared properly and they hope I visit their business again... uh, ya right! I'm done with you Panera. All I wanted was an apology and reimbursement for my meal. I even lost wages due to this incident. Don't go here!!! read more

Today my husband and I tried the ankeny panera that recently opened. We eat at panera quiet often, however our experience today will probably change that-- we made a rapid pick up order and when I opened the bag to check the food I first noticed that the half sandwiches were abnormally small. When I opened the box to look at the tiny sandwich, (which was half the size of the already small box) the ingredients looked externally old. I still took the order home to see if maybe my husband would still like the food. I didn't mention what I had noticed-- the first thing he said when he took a bite out of his half salad was that the Lettuce was stale. Unfortunately, we did not eat the meal and had to throw it away. I order rapid pick up very often and panera was my favorite fast food restaurant, up until this point. I would assume a new store would have more fresh ingredients, but that was not the case with my experience. read more
