I wouldn't suggest coming here anytime after 7:30 pm. They are constantly running out of things. Nearly every time I come here they are out of baguettes, bread bowls, broccoli cheddar soup, green iced tea and so on. I'm just gonna stick with the Nashua Panera Bread from now on. read more

I consider this place to be an overrated cafeteria, and quite frankly I think that's an insult to cafeterias that are well run. I just went there and ordered a group soup and the guys serving it is like "do you want bowls and a ladle?" You know the stuff I'm supposed to get when I purchase their overpriced soup. So I told the guy yeah I'll take a ladle and I get to where I'm going and no bowls. Apparently this well-trained culinary arts Master thought I would eat the soup with a ladle right out of there the main serving dish. Another time I got a turkey club and they put a pepperoncini on it. Never heard of that on a turkey club but especially never in a sandwich with the stem so when you're eating a sandwich you get the stem in your mouth. I guess that's their idea of gourmet. Kind of a joke. It really is overpriced for what you get and they're clearly very cheap with paper products. read more

Another day, another lunch. This time, I met a friend at Panera, in Chelmsford, which is a fairly new location for Panera. Situated near a Wal-Mart, a paper store, and Moe's Southwest Grill, this establishment is always packed, especially around lunch time. It took me about 10 minutes to find a space, which I eventually found around the corner. My friend came early and scored a table for us near the entrance. Not the best spot in the house, but it was a spot. I ordered my usual low-fat chicken soup with a piece of French bread, and she ordered the bread bowl of soup, her usual. Many low-calorie options--salads, sandwiches, wraps--are available. About 1/2 hour into our lunch, one of the workers brought around samples of strawberry smoothies, which were tasty. I've never had any of the desserts (mostly sticky buns and decadent cakes) but all look ok. The restaurant was clean, but the bathroom needed some help. This particular location has Wi-Fi and a couple of tables for outdoor seating, but doesn't have a counter and computers, like the one in Nashua has. read more

As an update to my previous post about the horrible ordering system here...this location is ALWAYS out of stuff!!! I don't think I have ever been here when they are out of at least 3 or 4 different common menu items. Last week it was chicken soup...before that is was the assiago bread for the roast beef sandwich. It's always something! Don't get me wrong - I love Panera in general, but this Chelmsford location is the absolute worst. read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. My only issue is that they always forget to put an egg in my egg sandwiches when I order to go :( but they definitely solve the problem immediately by giving me a new sandwich or knocking off the price of other items on my order. Service wasn't great. The guy at the register wasn't at all familiar with the food options and had to ask so many questions to other team members which took away from my ordering experience. Also, the worst part of the customer experience was my question about tree nuts (as I am allergic). I got the arugula ancient grains salad with chicken. The menu did not list tree nuts, just pumpkin seeds. When it came out, I double checked with the manager about whether it had tree nuts and the manager said "probably" and walked away. Allergies are such a slippery slope and he didn't even take the time to double check for me or offer substitutions, just walked away. Lost opportunity there! read more

Been here a number of times for a quick nosh on crusty carbs and a cuppa joe. As with others, I appreciate the calorie info posted; it makes for an informed choice. I wish their bagels were crustier and chewier, but they are better than much of what can be found in the local grocery store chains. Their French Toast bagels are sweet enough for dessert. As the chain has grown, it feels increasingly 'corporate' with its menu and decor. Still, I'll go here before I go to the more traditional fast food. Better yet, lets get a "real" bakery in Chelmsford! read more

I use to enjoy them when they first opened, but within the last few years or so their customer service has gotten worse. They also seem to run out of many things and they don't all seem to be on the same page sometimes when things do run out. If you are in hurry try to avoid this shop during the lunchtime hour. I think I got the stomach issue from the coffee self service percolators. This was Sunday. Only had coffee. I am a hand washer so I had clean hands. This time I got real sick. There's a fireplace here, but so few chairs can fit near it. Walk into Paneras and let your eyes feast on what's behind the glass case. I am never disappointed with their sandwiches. I got a sm soup with dirt on my soup spoon (food caked on it). It took two tries for the woman behind the counter to find a clean one. She hand washed one for me. Great food and service if you eat in. If you do "Rapid Pick Up" they will 9/10 times forget to add major pieces of your order and unless you spend the rapid pick up time you thought you were saving to go through your whole order while still there, you can just assume there's something missing in the bag. I've always loved Panera Bread! I only order the broccoli and cheddar soup with a bread bowl. I crave this soup all the time. The reason for a poor review is that twice in a row they forgot to include my bread bowl in the bag and my wife didn't realize it until we opened it at home. Too late to bring it back both times. When the beeper buzzer went off the second time, my wife asked them specifically if they included the bread bowls in the bag and the person working there said yes. We are never leaving again without checking ourselves because it's obviously something we can't trust them to do. Not only does the bread bowl option cost maybe $2 extra, it's the only way I eat the soup. I don't eat it straight up. I leave soup in to go container and break apart bread bowl and dip the pieces. Annoying as hell for my dinner to be ruined twice in a row. read more

I used to like this location, but in the past year it has gone down hill. Today, I went in around 12:30 and placed a to go order. While I waited for my food, I saw Julie, the corporate manager (identified by her shirt), put her gloved hand up to another employees nose, so that the employee could get a whiff of the funky order. Went in last week. Purchased 4 cups of soup to go, 2 drinks , and 4 items from bakery. I asked the cashier which would be ready first. She said the bakery. Waited to the items. picked up the drinks,then waited 20 minutes at the back for my soup. After a while I asked where my order was. They said they prepared it 20 minutes ago and someone else must have picked it up. Re made our order with no apology. Poor checks and balance. Every time I go there the service is worse and worse. I have had many delicious lunches at the Panera in Woburn but one afternoon of hanging around Lowell with my boyfriend we decided to try their coffee. I was really shocked at how good it was and I have to say it's actually become my favorite! The Cafe Mocha and Caramel Latte are so delicious, smooth and not overly strong. I've also taken to trying a new thing for breakfast from there each time and so far have not been disapointed. If you like pecans & cinnamon then try the Pecan Roll, it's pure bliss. read more

I've frequented this place quite a bit over the last 10 years or so and the food always seems to be consistent and the staff friendly. I've literally never had any issues that I could recall. Today (03/4/16) I came in around noon and the place was a mad house. I've never seen so many people in this location. I don't think there were even enough seats to accommodate. The manager did not hesitate for a moment. She went around the restaurant making sure everyone was accommodated so no one would be left standing. The lines became huge at one point because so many people walked in at the same time and she made sure that there was a constant flow. There was no employee standing around doing nothing, every employee was very busy and focused. She also went over to the food pickup area to assist customers with getting their food. Kudos to the staff and manager in the Chelmsford location, I'm impressed as to how the crew works under pressure. read more

I am never disappointed with the sandwiches from Panera. The food is absolutely fantastic. It's also a great spot for meetings and group projects, as wi-fi is offered. The only issue is when it occasionally runs out of soup! Otherwise, great establishment, better food. read more
