I went to Panera Bread to have a sandwich with a friend yesterday and was totally disappointed. I ordered a chicken bacon rancher and found a few pieces of bacon piled in one spot on the sandwich and absolutely no ranch dressing at all. Only coffee choices were light or dark roast and hazzlenut. I ask for a stirrer and was told they don't have any. So there were no stirrers available to stir the cream in, and they only have paper straws now and that is what I had to use (horrible). I had brought my laptop and tried to get online and was told by the worker that, it must be slow but I can get on with my phone. I said, I can get on with my phone as well and that is because you have WiFi on your phone. It's not the workers fault. I had gone to this same Panera Bread on Drum Hill Chelmsford, MA a few months back and was able to get online with the laptop just fine. This is something that must have recently happened. I did notice that the place was empty and the only flow of people were door dash drivers coming in for takeout orders. Well I'll tell you what, $17 for a messy sandwich, small bag of chips and a small coffee they can forget it. Now I see why the place was empty at 3 pm in the afternoon. Wow. So I ordered something new they had on the menu which was Hardy Fireside chili which sounded amazing when I got the bowl there really was hardly any beef in it it was really tomatoey and not many beans at all it was very thin and didn't have good flavor I was really surprised but I was nice and I brought it back up and the girls seen the little disgusted but that's okay I still was nice and polite and asked for bean soup instead the bean soup that I got was literally black liquid with very very little late beans in it and nothing else in it again horrible so I had to dump that as well but I didn't complain I just left without eating it was Christmas Eve I was with my daughter trying to enjoy the afternoon with her and it just really dampened our mood a little bit it bothers me that they serve me something that I had to pay so much for I always liked Panera but I think I'm going to stay away from this one from now on read more

For the past 10ish years, we've gone mostly to this Panera because of proximity to our medical providers. It's basically our only experience with this brand. Ambiance was good. It was a cool day and we appreciated the working fireplace nearby. We ordered our meals through the app, so there was no customer care in taking our order. The food was prepared correctly but, with that being the only service provided, I certainly hoped that they wouldn't screw that up. The food was average. I had the 1/2 cranberry-walnut-chicken salad with onion soup & husband had 1/2 turkey sandwich with wild rice soup. It was good/edible yet nothing to write home about. However, each and every time we've been at this Panera, we've had to get some wet napkins to wipe down/off the crumbs from previous customers' use of our intended table. When did Panera start expecting that from its customers?? Surely we can't be the ONLY people who have been experiencing this problem over 10 years! Do ya think they might have caught on by now??? Someone needs to tell the Panera Management to step up customer service and keep clean their own damn tables!! So disappointed! I ordered the Mediterranean bowl with Chicken! There was less than an ounce of chicken flakes, I guess is what you call them. I paid $14+ with tax. The bowl was advertised as a warm bowl but there was nothing warm about it. I should have received grilled chicken breast strips. I picked one star because there was no option to not pick any. I ordered the Hardy Fireside chili which was basically crushed tomatoes with a couple beans in it and very little pieces of meat it was literally all like tomato puree and very thin so nothing hearty or Fireside about it and it was horrible so I went up I was nice and I said I just really think it doesn't have much in it and I expected it to be more Hardy so they gave me the black bean soup which probably has 20 beans in the entire Bowl if even that they're hard to find it's a broth a black bra and also does not have flavor don't know if they did that to me on purpose but it was a bull not a cup so I got ripped off and had to throw two bowls in the trash. DO NOT GO TO THIS PANERA! How do you fail at French Onion soup? Well, they did tonight. There wasn't enough cheese. They completely forgot the croutons. It tasted terrible and I have to throw it all out. (I bought a group serving.) When I tried to complain, the person on the phone insisted that it was wrong, that she'd done it herself, and done it correctly. I wanted a refund. She refused to listen, talked over me, and then hung up. The rest of my order was just as terrible. Even the bread was off. How do you fail this badly? I live not far from this Panera, and have tried to use it many times over the years. They fail nearly EVERY SINGLE TIME! If I could live in a Panera, I probably would. Fresh baked breads and goodies all day long, free wifi, tasty soups, fresh sandwiches and special drinks? Yes, please!! This chain has nailed quality, value, and experience like no other- all the way down to the fireplace in the middle of the room- which is what makes this particular Panera my favorite in the surrounding area. I'm a huge fan of the calorie info right on the menu to let me know how much gym time my indulgence is going to cost me. French Toast Bagel w/ Honey Walnut Cream Cheese= 490kcals= 30 minutes on the elliptical... it's sooo worth it. Broccoli Cheddar Soup in a Sourdough Bread Bowl- you don't want to know, just enjoy it. ;) The lunch crowd here is everything from 9-5 professionals and freelancers to Moms w/ kids, teenagers, and retirees. While the parking lot always seems full, I've always found a spot. Even though there was a line at 1:15pm, it went fast and I still scored a table for two without table stalking. A table with an outlet may be more difficult and better attempted at an off-peak time. read more

I don't know who runs this place, but they don't do a good job and should be ashamed of the job they do. The inventory calculations are incredible. They are always out of something. I always visit this location, for years, and nvr feel the need to complain even if I'm not 100% happy, today is different. Went in for breakfast to go, not busy at all in there, orders egg white avocado spinach sandwich that took around 15 minutes to make. The employees behind the line are laughing, joking messing around while I'm waiting for a simple sandwich. I see the sandwich on the cooking line, not too sure that's what it was, finally a man turned around and was like "oh I hate these but what is it?" So he loads tons of spinach, then throws in a box. I get to work excited as this is my favorite sandwich, no avocado, cold egg & the smallest tomato ive ever seen. So a 6$ sandwich that was disgusting is not worth this to me anymore. Will have to start going else. Update - went back again as I i was headed to work and ordered rapid pick up, I was wrong again! When you get an avocado SPINACH egg white with tomato, you want everything listed, but hey why not mess it all up, charge 6$ and put a sliver of avocado and NO spinach with cold egg white. Seriously! I went in tonight to order myself a grilled cheese sandwich. My kids are eating at the other two restaurants that this store connects with. I hear the lady putting the food together say "It's a lot cheaper to make a grilled cheese at home!" Like does this lady want to even work here? The whole time I am waiting for my order they are freaking out because they have no baguettes. Doesn't sound like anyone is making these baguettes, they just keep complaining about baguettes! It's 4:30 on a Tuesday night! If this place is going to stay in business, maybe the employees can learn to just do their jobs. It makes me sad cause this place use to be amazing! I would give a zero if possible. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I placed an order at the electronic device in the store. Was not sure the order was received therefore I asked for assistance. The employee (who had no other customers at this time) sent me to the other register where I stood there for 10 minutes Ted waiting on an acknowledgment from another employee preparing food. Finally I asked for assistance and she continue me to ignore me. I went back to the previous employee (who also had no customers both times When I approached her) and asked for assistance. I'm in Boston for business and stopped into the Chelmsford location. Please help me understand the logic behind having an employee greet guests, asking if they're paying by card, and spending time to walk the guest through ordering from the machines, taking at least four times longer than having someone just take the order. This is absolutely ridiculous and seems counter to your culture of providing a positive experience for your customers. There were others behind the counter but none appeared ready or willing to take an order from a customer. I get the whole aspect of ordering from the mobile phone ahead of time for the sake of convenience. However, I'm having a hard time understanding why this model of customer service seems like a good idea. On a side note, the soufflé I got this morning was awful: the crust was tough and the soufflé was cold. It was the worst soufflé I've had and wouldn't surprise me if it was a day old. Very disappointing visit. I generally like your food but really dislike this approach. It will make me think twice about eating at Panera again. read more

So bad that even when the reps who come present at my company tell us they got us free lunch from panera I cringe. And I rarely cringe about free food! My sandwiches have always been bland and terrible. (See photo of my chicken salad sandwich). There was barely any chicken salad in the sandwich and it was all falling apart. This has also happened with the other sandwiches I have gotten. And I know panera isn't cheap. Never have any desire to come here for lunch even though it's down the street. I love Panera Bread. Stopped by this location on Friday afternoon (3pm ish) and stood at the order counter for 3-4 minutes. I saw the employees looking at me out of the corner of thier eyes but never acknowledged me with a "I'll be right with you" or anything. Kid working in the prep area is wearing a bag on his head and his buddy drops a serving spoon on the floor, picks it up and keeps using it. Seems as though kids that don't really care have taken over the afternoon shift. I'll go back to this spot but not in the afternoon anymore. I walked out and went to Einstein's instead. Bought the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad to go yesterday. The romaine was wilted, dry and turning brown. The chicken was tasteless. The portion was adequate. I know Panera is not cheap, but paying $10.48 with tax for this gave me a really bad feeling. Panera brings the ease and convenience of a quick lunch with the quality and care of a corner deli. This Panera location is no exception. Located in Drum Hill in Chelmsford MA, this is a pretty good sized location. My only advice is, if you can take your lunch either at 11 or at 1 DO IT!!!!!! This location gets soooooo much lunch taffic that if you're there at noon, you're better off taking it to go because you'll be walking around looking for a table for at least 10 minutes. They are quick on service, which sometimes means sloppy platings or a messy spoon which the staff will gladly replace. When it is not that busy it's really good and quality is at it's highest. So skip the lunch rush, come in for breakfast or a later lunch and you'll be happy!!! Parking is also a pain because it shares a lot with a Hannafords and a Wal-mart as well as a few small stores in the little strip mall it is located in. read more

Come here if you must. Everything from the employees to the food is marginal at best. I told the person taking my order it was my first visit. She just gave me a blank stare. No help or guidance with menu. Not even an attempt to upsell or add anything. The sandwich I ordered was smashed into the bag so that all the ingredients and marinara plastered the inside of the sandwich wrapper and made extracting the dang thing impossible without making a mess of my hands, table and face while attempting to eat the mess. This location just ignored by pregnant wife for a half hour, leaving her in the parking lot to wait for an order which was already filled, and melting, in their store. Employees came out to deliver food to subsequent customers and completely ignored her, even though she specified the order was for curbside pickup. When she finally spoke to an employee, they were rude. When she called me, in tears (needed food desperately because of a medical issue), I instructed her to enter the store (which she previously avoided because of health concerns with wearing a mask) and demand the food be remade and a refund be issued for her trouble. They eventually remade the food, so she got her food almost an hour after she ordered it, but she still had to pay for it. I hope giving this pregnant lady a hard time was worth Panera, because that's the last cent you'll get out of us or any of our friends. read more

They have soups, salads and sandwiches for those looking for something more substantial but if you're looking for a something sweet pastries like danishes, croissants, scones and coffee cake there's a lot of them. While their lattes are a bit weak and a lot on the foamy side, it's okay for a chain. There's free wifi, a couple of comfy couches by the fireplace and plenty of seating. Panera is one of my favorite places to head to during my lunch hour. The line sometimes streches out the door at this location, but it moves very quickly. The staff members are a model of efficiency. Even at their busiest, I've never had to wait for than five minutes maximum (after ordering) to receive my order. I really like the Asiago roast beef sandwich and, although not a vegetarian, I'm a big fan of the Mediterranean veggie sandwich. I also love the You Pick Two deal they offer where you can choose 1/2 a sandwich and a soup or 1/2 salad. Any business that caters to my indecisiveness is a good one. One thing I've noticed about Panera is general is that no matter how big they are, there never seems to be enough seating. This location is pretty large, but during the lunch hour there are often seat vultures hovering around, standing with their plates of food wishing you'd eat faster so they can have a seat. To avoid becoming one of said vultures, we always have one member of our group stake out a table while the rest of us wait in line. Rarely are we able to score a cozy booth, so we usually end up having to push several small tables together. Overall, three stars for being an affordable quick lunch that doesn't leave you feeling queasy like a tradtional fast food place. read more

This Panera is located in Drum Hill and conveniently close to route 3. It's situated within a very, very busy plaza which houses the local Wal-Mart, Hannaford, Paper Store, etc. That said, during peak hours you'll be hard-pressed to find a parking spot within close proximity. Throughout the years, I've never had a bad meal here... It tastes like every other Panera. It's also a very busy... during peak times, expect to hustle for a table (which may or may not be clean!). I've also had the opportunity to order ahead and the wait time is always 20-30 minutes (even if the app says 10 minutes or less). Because this particular Panera is a franchise, the owner doesn't follow basic Panera typicalities. Pastry items are NOT $0.99 even if you purchase a meal and a drink! read more

Chicken, chipotle, and avocado sandwich... barely anything in it. I wish I took a picture. I've had this sandwich at other locations such as Westford and N. Andover and it was delicious. The amount you pay for it is not worth what you get. Second time here for this sandwich, last time. I wanted to give them a second chance thinking they had an off day the first time, but nope. This place barely puts anything in their sandwiches. My niece got a turkey sandwich, they forgot to add her cheese and didn't give her the dill pickle.
