The service was great when I went in the other day. The waitress was wonderful and greeted us as soon as we walked through the door and we chose to sit at the counter. I ordered the lox and bagel sandwich with the capers and onion and cream cheese and my wife ordered the eggs with toast and home fries and toast. Every thing was extremely fresh and hot when it came to be served and the lox was extremely generous portion that won't disappoint and was of excellent quality! The homefries were to die for and not overly spiced! The owner stopped by the table to see if we were happy with the meal and I will definitely be back to try their steak and cheese subs that they were making with their fresh steak brisket and generous ingredients! Great sub, but the service? Uh . . . I walked in at 4:20 today (April 14). There were two employees. Employee 1 was ringing up a customer. I went to the ordering counter, where Employee 2 appeared to be working on something and didn't acknowledge me at all. That's the first sign of trouble. I assumed she was too busy or simply not in the role of taking orders, so we both stood there doing nothing for a couple of minutes. I know customers often call in orders, so I assumed that's what she was doing. I'm not the pushy type, so I just waited. Finally Employee 1 nodded to her as if to ask, "What's going on over there?" Employee 2 told him, "I'm waiting." Was she waiting for me? Apparently so. I nodded toward her and placed my order. Went to the register, rang up the order, did not leave a tip. If she had at least acknowledged my existence, of course I would have given her the highest tip per my usual practice. Employee 1 handed me the sandwich and said, "Here you go." That's the second sign of trouble -- failing to thank the customer. I thanked HIM out of habit, when someone hands me something. He said, "You're welcome." My advice for management, if you read this, is very simple: Tell your employees to say hello to customers and thank them when they buy. Easy! read more

Any sandwich shop that makes a turkey sandwich using chunks of turkey instead of deli sliced always gets my attention. Potbelly makes a damn good sandwich and the staff is always exceptionally polite. I even get calls after an online if they're out of something just so they can make sure everything else is right. They also make some good salads and their loaded potato soup is just excellent in the winter. I'd also suggest their pantry service which provides for a good quick meal. Pleasant surprise here. Came here on Good Friday with a friend for lunch. Walked in and it was very busy but running very efficiently through the line. They had a two-person music group there for the lunchtime hour. I really liked that that was a bit of a coffee shop vibe they should continue it if it was a one time deal. That part I really enjoyed.
