I never write reviews for chain restaurants but this location is so good I had to. We moved across the street about six months ago and have frequently gone to this location. We place a mobile order for pickup every time. It's always ready super fast, food is hot, and our order has been correct every time. The staff is so friendly and helpful. We have been coming to this Panera's location for many years and have always been happy with the food and the service. the past two times we have come here has been different, though. I always get the "you pick two" with French Onion Soup and a Greek salad with a side of a baguette. They've always been delicious. But for the past couple of months, the baguette has been so hard and stale, I couldn't even bite through it. I returned it to the counter the first time this happened, and the guy serving brushed me off and handed me a stale slice of white bread (no, "would you like an apple or some chips?") The salad I had yesterday was about half of the amount that it usually is, and it was loaded with shredded pickled peppers instead of lettuce. Is something going on that the food and service are going downhill? read more

Almost every Panera is similar -- that's how chain restaurants work. Tucked away into a now less-used shopping lot (there was once a grocery store here but now there's not) the back-door "patio" seating is quite nice in the afternoon sun, even -- maybe especially -- on a lovely Carolina Blue January day. read more

Love Panera Bread but this location started off on the wrong foot from the first step in the door. The store is in a strip that appears newer. Parking is either off road l, or in their parking lot. If parking off road there was no door visible to me. The lot was tidy on a weekday morning visit. My son and I walked in to two employees in the bakery area and one assisting at the cash register. I said good morning as I walked in which fell on deaf ears with them staring at me. We got to the counter which had no wait and no staff. After a minute someone arrived. I ordered an iced caramel coffee and sausage egg sandwich. My son ordered a strawberry smoothie and bacon egg sandwich. We attempted to checkout with a gift card that was on the app. However, after several attempts and the staff requiring a pin it would not work. Another employee said the pin was not necessary. After several attempts she could not process. So I paid with my credit card to little apology. The dining room was clean and drinks with food were out in less than 10 minutes. The sandwiches were hot and ok. We both liked our drinks and I definitely would get the coffee again. After finished we bussed our own table and the trash area was clean. The service at this store was a failure. The food ok and drinks tasty. 2.5 rounding down. The general manager needs to come in and train staff. The Panera Gift Card was properly installed on the app and pin not required. read more

Recently visited for a late lunch on a Monday. It was busy but not massively so. On recommendation, I tried the fall squash soup (think butternut squash) and it was delicious. I also tried the soba noodle bowl with edamame and it was decent. After placing our orders, the clerk told us to take our numbered buzzers to our seats and they would deliver our food to us. I really like the bagels and sandwiches from Panera. We were in Durham for the weekend and had breakfast here twice. As usual, the bagels and sandwiches were good. My wife got the cinnamon crunch bagel both days. On the first day, I ordered the bacon egg and cheese sandwich. After waiting close to 15 min, i went up and asked about it... it had gotten missed somehow. On the second day, I asked for the egg to be scrambled(and it is a normal option) and it came out over easy. But at least they didnt forget about the order this time. It is so upsetting to have a semi-healthy option in our area finally only for it to be subpar at best. Every time I have done a pick up order something has been wrong. Last time I ordered salads and neither had dressing which completely ruined it for me and, in my opinion, made it a waste of money and the trip to get it. I stopped into this Panera during a business trip, intending to grab some lunch and do some work. Great experience. First, it was busy but the staff seemed jovial and welcoming anyway. Second, the wait was quite short. Third, the gentleman who took my order was super friendly. Not obnoxiously so. Just friendly. Seemed like a good guy. First of all, I'm not sure there are actual people working here. You enter, have to place your order on a tablet, pay and take a transponder to await a pickup. You get your beverages (I paid $3.20 for a Sweet Tea, but there was just regular tea and a syrup you added to make it sweet. Disgusting) we seated ourselves and waited. After 15 minutes (it was not particularly busy) we went over and saw that it had been sitting on the counter, the transponder wasn't working apparently. Or could it have been because I didn't leave any tip on the tablet order? So the food was cold, but that wouldn't have made it any better. A grilled cheese sandwich with bacon ($10.80) was barely toasted and the cheese was just slices not at all melted. The bacon was a barely cooked, a cold greasy blob) After trying to eat a few bites, I had to clear my own table, much like McDonald's. But at least McDonald's has condiments and beverages as listed. So having seen only one person that worked there, I wondered exactly what I was supposed to be tipping for. It certainly wasn't the quality of the food!! I was super excited to have Panera, because it seems that I haven't had it in forever! I usually stick to my go to's, which means frontera chicken OR bacon turkey bravo. I decided to go back to my original favorite, turkey bacon bravo and was disappointed. It just didn't taste the same as I remember it. The bread wasn't sweet, the sauce tasted different, etc. I know that Panera went "cleaner" and maybe that's it. However, it ruined the bacon turkey bravo for me. Back to frontera chicken it is! No two souffle's look the same, they're like snowflakes. Trust me, I know! The egg, cheese and bacon are hot and in the center of a buttery and flaky croissant like pastry. OMG it's so good. It's making my mouth water just thinking about it. There are 3 or 4 standard varieties of the souffle' but some Panera's may carry a local souffle'. This Panera location is busy for it to be off of the beaten path. It's a pretty nice sized Panera with plenty of tables and chairs. I love how you can come in, sit down and order directly from your table on your phone, tablet or laptop. I frequent this Panera when I'm in town for business. Food is delicious no doubt, and healthy. I like their staff too - always polite even if their customers may not be. I like that you can personalize your food on their self order kiosks. Also, love the rewards program; for my birthday month I got to get a free coffee once a day. Things to improve - big giant hole in the ceiling in women's bathroom, what's with that? And who is up there? More space outside, more tables especially when weather is good. Also, no accommodations for mothers with children or pregnant women- no parking reserved outside for them, and bathroom is so tiny, hard to go in with a small kid. Overall, I recommend this place every time. Have not been disappointed thus far. CNN recently rated the best, healthiest places to eat out and this was one of top two. read more

First, when I was trying to order food online (from my home) and also get my free birthday desert, the online system didn't take off the price of the desert. After much discussion with an employee at this location, they finally agreed to completely credit my purchase and start all over again but then I just said forget the whole thing and that I would just come into the store and get my free birthday desert. But once I was in the store, I was "mask shamed" big time by a black female and a white male manager. My heartrate went up alot and I almost began to argue. I realize that most people don't understand that wearing masks is not a law and that no one can be arrested for not having a mask. This location is kind of dark, the street lights weee either not working or nonexistent. So just beware if you go at night. We picked up a to go order. The roasted avacado BLT was good. However the Green Goddess Cobb Salad was a bit disappointing. The ingredients are supposed to include arugula, romaine, kale, radicchio, grape tomatoes and pickled onions, avacado for veggies. I got the tomato, red onion, and avocado. The rest were missing. Turnkey, bacon, and half egg were there. It would have been good if they did not have ingredients to let the customer know. This is only slightly better than a McDonald's salad but for an expensive price. This was the first time here, so I'm not sure if they typically make the Greed Goddess salad this way. When customers are paying a more premium price for a sandwich/salad/soup joint, they would like to get at least what is advertised. I generally like Panera Bread, but after going to this location a couple of times, I feel compelled to finally write about it. You'll get this with any chain; some stores just garner better results. Upon walking in, this is a typical Panera, with lots of room, lots of yummy looking pastries, lots of customers and a good menu. You get through the line relatively quickly, and then move on through to go take a seat. The turnaround on getting your food is pretty quick, as usual. My favorite thing to get at a Panera is the tomato basil paninni - and I tend to make it my regular order. Sometimes I'll custom order it and add some chicken to it (yum!), and they are happy to oblige. Every time I go to this particular location, though, the paninni has come out less than melty. The ladies in the back here don't really seem very approachable, and maybe they're in a food makin' groove - but if I go up looking for a spoon or something, its hard to get their attention to ask for it. And what is UP with them only giving you 30 minutes of wifi time during lunch time?? I understand the logic of not wanting people to linger - and offering longer wifi time would just let people like me linger - but when your sandwich and soup plus drink costs $10, a bit more hospitable policy could be in place. read more

I do love Panera and I was happy to discover this location when I moved back to the area. I spent many hours nursing a coffee and a cinnamon crunch bagel while studying here this summer. It's a great place to study or grab a bite to eat but stay far far away during lunch time. It is a madhouse (e.g. people stalking each other for tables, etc.). For lunch, the french onion soup and bacon turkey bravo sandwich are the best. For breakfast, the cinnamon crunch bagel and the orange scones are amazing. When I asked our hotel desk if there was a breakfast place nearby, she directed me towards the Panera Bread down the street. Excellent, I do enjoy me some Panera breakfast. The whole shopping center looks to be very new, and has a bunch of great stores. The restaurant is good sized, clean, and has a bunch of outdoor tables. The staff was polite and funny, and the service was quick. There's usually nothing special you can say about a chain, and this store isn't any different, but it was good, and if I lived in the neighborhood this would likely be a regular, go-to establishment for me. read more

While on business in Durham for a year I would frequent this Panera location mainly because of the customer service I received from Marisol & I believe the guy in the kitchen area name is Henry. I typically would get the same thing: Egg white Mediterranean with extra spinach, a cup of strawberry pecan oatmeal & a orange juice. I found it pleasing that when I entered Marisol always greeted me by name & knew what I wanted. Her customer service was so professional which kept me coming back. Not to mention the care, dedication & flavor of my food choices. Henry always bagged my items the way I like & made my food with care, attention & dedication in my opinion. I would've given this place 5 stars but there are several cashiers that could NEVER get my order correct or remember my band which was rude in my opinion seeing as how I frequent this place 4 mornings a week for 52 weeks.
