Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Service and Disparate Treatment at Logan's Roadhouse -…read moreGoldsboro, NC To Logan's Roadhouse Management and Corporate Customer Relations: I am writing to formally report a very concerning experience involving a church party of approximately 12 people at your Goldsboro, North Carolina location. Our visit involved multiple service and food problems. Several of our salads were incorrect or improperly prepared. Four members of our party did not receive their meals until after the other members of our group had already been served. In addition, several people received meals that were missing items or portions of what they had ordered. These problems affected our party as a whole and significantly disrupted our dining experience. I want to specifically acknowledge Vanessa, the cook manager, who was very helpful and professional in trying to address our concerns. My complaint is not directed toward her. My greater concern is with how management ultimately handled our situation compared with another party seated near us. Our party was Black. At a nearby table, which consisted of white customers, there were also problems with their food. We observed that their food was remade and their affected meals were ultimately provided free of charge. In comparison, although our party experienced multiple problems involving incorrect food, missing items, delayed meals, and remade food, we were only offered discounts. Furthermore, not everyone in our party who was affected received a discount. We were informed that the general manager made the decision regarding the adjustment to our bill. I understand that different customer-service situations can sometimes warrant different remedies. However, based upon what we personally observed during this visit, I am deeply concerned about the apparent difference in treatment. A white party experiencing food problems received affected meals at no charge, while our Black church party experienced widespread service and food problems but received only partial discounts, with some affected members receiving no adjustment at all. I am not asking Logan's Roadhouse to simply assume why this happened. I am asking the company to investigate whether our party was treated differently and, if so, why. I respectfully request that Logan's Roadhouse: Review the management decisions made during our visit, including the adjustments made to our party's checks. Compare those adjustments with the resolution provided to the nearby table whose meals were reportedly provided free of charge. Review the receipts, transaction records, manager discounts/comps, and any available restaurant surveillance footage from the time of our visit. Determine why members of our party who were affected by the service problems did not receive the same or comparable resolution. Provide me with a written response explaining the results of the review and what corrective action, if any, will be taken. This matter is particularly concerning because our group came to your establishment together as a church party expecting to fellowship and enjoy a meal. Instead, we left feeling that we had not been treated equally. I hope Logan's Roadhouse will take this complaint seriously and conduct a fair and thorough review. I would appreciate being contacted by corporate management rather than having this matter handled solely at the restaurant level. Respectfully, Pastor Raymond L. Oates
