Service was extremely slow, possibly due to a worker shortage. I'm honestly not sure what the deal was, but I did wait a solid 35min for a sandwich. Other than that, everything went well.

Reuben sandwich. Un-melted cheese with a cool center.

So-so. Ordered the Reuben sandwich and a cup of tortilla soup online with drive-thru pick-up (to-go option). Arrived at listed pick-up time (15 minutes later), waited behind two cars in line for another 15 minutes, only to arrive at the window and wait another 10 minutes while they started making my order. The two folks working the line/register were very friendly and apologized for the wait. Sandwich was made with decent ingredients (good bread and pastrami), but cheese wasn't melted, bread wasn't really toasted, and there was minimal saurkraut. And for the price, portion size was small. Tortilla soup was a more creamy variation, albeit well flavored, and the highlight of the otherwise under-impressive meal. Didn't seem like that busy of a day (Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., but maybe was just an off day for them? Either way, I might go back but I will probably get something different next time. IMHO, it's hard to screw up a 5-ingredient grilled sandwich but maybe the Reuben isn't their specialty...

We had an excellent experience for lunch today at McAllister's! Latoya the cashier/deli server who works there truly was so friendly, helpful and efficient. Her coworker that was arranging to go orders was also appearing so careful while putting orders together and was communicative with Latoya (name was on our receipt and we asked for it since we were so impressed). It is so nice seeing teamwork, efficient service, and friendly helpful customer service. The food is perfection--just the deli taste we were craving. We ordered two clubs, potato salad, the veggie, broccoli and cheese soup, four cheese sandwich, and the Godiva double chocolate cheesecake. Also--fellow military families--they are loud and proud here at this establishment about discounts for all military (including vets)--every day. We also noted they give discounts to teachers. There may be other professions discounted, it's worth an ask. Nice clean, friendly deli--making me wishing we had one where we live (just in town visiting family).

Stopped here for a quick lunch while heading out to the beach. They had lots of salad, sandwich, soup, and spud options making it hard to pick just one meal! I chose the pick 2 option and got the Savannah Salad and Grilled Chicken Sandwich - it was delicious! Other members of my family got the Garden Turkey Sandwich and Southwest Chicken Salad. Everyone really enjoyed their meal (and sweet tea)! The service was fine and we had no problems. I would definitely stop again!

It was ok. The service was great! The food was average. I got the Mcallister Club wrap and my daughter got the Mcallister Club sandwich 2 large drinks, 2 bags of chips. and a fudge brownie. All totaling 21$ and some change. Didn't know that offered a military discount or else I totally would've taken advantage of that. My daughters sandwich looked like it had a lot more meat and more fulfilling than mine, yet it cost about the same. The drinks were very large and they came to our table asking if we wanted refills or anything else for that matter. The brownie didn't taste homemade. It was large enough to split but a bit dry and not that good. The menu consisted of sandwiches (hot and cold), baked potatoes, soups, salad, sides and some bakes goods. The customer service was great but I'm not sure it was enough to bring me back. Thought it was a bit too much cash for just ok food.

    Serving expired food.

Waited 30 minutes to get 1 of 2 orders. Took another 15 for the second order. Food is marginal at best.

During this time the manager and employees continued to take orders while the costumers crowded up waiting to pay. As someone who eats Jersey Mike's almost everyday this was the worst location and unprofessional. Although the employees simply did what they could it did not take away from the results and that the manager was not helpful. They were not remaking sandwiches which should have been discounted or given to customers free of cost for the inconvenience. If the employees informed customers upon arrival that they had an extended wait period this would be acceptable as the customer could make the choice for themselves. I left without the soggy sandwich I was expected to pay for. I will never ever come back to this location as there was not thought for the customers and respect for their time and ultimately for the food as I'm sure there were was a lot of spoilage.

Conveniently located in the center of Topsail Island, it was a 15-minute drive from our 2022 Airbnb stay. With next two stays at Saltwater Suites in 2025, the drive was less than 5 minutes. In the three stays, we had breakfast here six times. It had everything we wanted. My son and I are sticklers for routine. In the first four visits, we ordered the same thing: 2 scrambled eggs with toast & home fries for me, and pancakes for him. Orders were placed at the counter. Then we went upstairs to the dining area and waited for the orders to be served. There were no issues with the order, food or service during these visits. In both 2022 visits, I had coffee; in both 2025 visits, I had Mountain Dew. Refills are free for both coffee and soda. My order tasted better than a similar one I had at Tick Tock Diner in New York City. It was great value for money. I always felt that I ate enough to last me through lunch. There was no reason to try anything different. Unlike Tick Tock Diner, NY Corner Deli did not have any TVs in the dining area. I appreciated this as we go to the beach to get away from the world. Furthermore, there weren't many people in the dining area whenever we were here (before 9am). Can't speak for the dining experience at any other time of the day. Things were slightly different when we visited in 2026. Pancakes were not available, so son had french toasts in both visits. In the first visit, I ordered my usual; in the second visit, I tried something different and ordered western omelet (with toast & home fries). Don't let the photo fool you. The western omelet was bigger than it looked. "Hearty" is an understatement. It was so filling that I skipped lunch and had a light dinner. Mountain Dew was no longer available as the establishment defected to Coca-Cola, so I had Coke Classic both times. If you like a decent breakfast and a quiet atmosphere, New York Corner Deli is the place to be. It will continue to be our breakfast place whenever we are in the Topsail / Surf City area.

The walls are covered in black-and-white prints of the Brooklyn Bridge, sepia-toned yellow cabs, and metal street signs screaming Broadway and 5th Ave. The seating is divided into two thrillingly average, non-beachy options: Upstairs or Downstairs. Both levels feature the exact same standard-issue, wobbly metal diner chairs, with vinyl tables upstairs. The menu is an everything menu, nothing specific, no specialties, consider this a one stop shop for anytime of the day. It serves up a breakfast that is heavy, completely unpretentious, and designed to fill you to the brim. Like the rest of the menu, it doesn't aim for culinary innovation; it aims for maximum density and they are open when everyone else is closed. By the time you scrape the plate clean, you are utterly, heavily full and ready to take on the day. Cheers!
