I went to Panera yesterday at 3PM and was greeted promptly as I started using the kiosk. No more cups for unsweet tea (resolved promptly, they keep them behind the counter). Then went to get my tea and they were out. A lady in front of me told them, as she picked up her food. I got my food promptly. Asked them about the tea and was told it was out front (but she may have thought I meant the sweet tea). I took my food to my table and then tried to get the unsweetened tea, still not out front, just the sweet. I went back to the counter and they got me the unsweetened tea from the back. My meal was very good. Quiet atmosphere. However, there was food on the floor and unlike other Paneras I've been to, I didn't see anyone cleaning the dining area during my short visit. read more

First, we ordered at the kiosk and had to wait at the front counter for someone to come by and give us our drink cups - the person working near the front counter saw us and ignored us for several minutes, not that she was extremely busy, putting three loaves of bread into bags; I'm guessing she didn't think it was her job. Then, the Mac & cheese wasn't hot, it was barely warm with cold spots, as if it had been refrigerated/frozen and not defrosted thoroughly. The baguette also had cold spots (not room temp, COLD). I decided not to eat it in the restaurant but to take it home and reheat it for another time, so I returned to the front counter, waited a few minutes for the same employee to offer assistance, but finally had to ask for a to-go container. No, she says - ask at the pick up counter. Again, she wasn't busy, just brushing a few crumbs off of a food-processing table. (I would like to insert here that she picked up a set of keys (car keys or restaurant keys) from the counter where the food was prepared but didn't clean or sanitized the counter where to keys had been.) I waited at the pick up counter for someone to offer assistance. Three employees, including the manager walked past several times without acknowledging me. After about 5 minutes, a different employee stopped what she was doing and asked what I needed and then gave me a go-to container. I asked her to point out the manager - turns out he was the guy who'd walked past me three times. I told him the Mac & cheese not only wasn't hot but had cold spots in it. He offered to reheat it, but by then my husband had finished eating and was ready to go, so I said no, I just wanted him to be aware that there was a problem with the food prep. I also told him that the employee, who was now standing behind him (and again, not doing any work), was unhelpful and needed retraining in customer service. He made no mention that he would talk to her about her performance (or her attitude). I would suggest that he - the manager - needs a refresher course in customer service as well. This is the closest Panera location to me so I've been ordering here for 15 years though it's 40 minutes round trip. Today, I give up trying to deal with them. Invariably something is missing from my order. Lately though it's gotten so bad its laughable. This time, they sent a salad sans lettuce. See picture. I've taken to complaining so I called and spoke to the manager. I asked if I could send a picture of the "salad" I received. His answer? "Oh, is that the one with no lettuce?" We thought that was strange." Calmly I suggested they might have called to check as it really made no sense to pay ~$9 for slices of onion, 2 peppers, a Tbls of feta and a piece of avocado. He said they should have sent the lettuce separately. Ya think? My problem was with the app which requires one to remove an item they are out of (in this case olives.). I must have removed the lettuce somehow. If this was the only screw up, I could laugh it off, but it isn't. Fortunately, if I have a hankering for something from a Panera, there is another one in town. I suggest others frequent that one also. read more

The rest, The order took almost 15 minutes. It was 2:00, there was one order before me, why so long? I paid for a full salad, it filled less than half the container. There was hardly any chicken, I counted 4 tiny pieces. No roll, although it was on the order. I had a free cookie, but it was so undercooked the dough was raw.
