What a great local spot to grab a good old style hot dog! I'm from NC so natural I got what my dad always called "The Carolina Dog" ie; Mustard, chili, slaw and onions (actually two of them). The Wife" ordered the Sausage dog with mustard and raw onions and she throughly enjoyed it. We got them to go and walked across the street to The Beer Garden and ate our lunch and had a couple of really good beers, resulting in a wonderful lunch experience. I live in St Pete Beach, FL but my daughter and hubby have a second house up here (HVL) just around the corner from Hot Dog World, so it will be a regular stop each future trip up. read more

I love a local fast food joint, and Hot Dog World was no exception. Be warned it can get busy. Very busy. Parking might be an issue depending on when you decide to go. On my last visit I was both floored and impressed by how many people were looking for a local hotdog. The service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is no frills and rustic. And the food is solid. Hotdog world is 10 out of 10. The slaw dog was incredible chilies amazing. The slaws amazing and the buns are toasted. My kids loved it. We also tried. The cheeseburger tasted like a cheeseburger you would grill in your backyard. The milkshake was recommended and was delicious thick and creamy. And the price for everything was so extremely affordable, especially for the current climate. I feel like I found an old school hidden gem!! The young lady at the front counter was super kind very helpful in somebody even came from the back and gave my kids to bouncy balls. I love the environment. We've been coming to Hot Dog World for years. We live about an hour and 45 minutes from Hendersonville, so it's not an everyday visit, but every now and then it makes for a fun road trip--grab a couple of hot dogs, enjoy the mountains for the day, and head home happy. The gentleman who runs the place is Greek, and while they do have some Greek menu items, we've actually never tried them. I've stuck to the traditional American fare, and we've never been disappointed. I apologize for not taking better pictures of the individual items, but on this trip we had the classic hot dog--plain with a grilled buttered bun. We also had their regular hot dog topped with chili, onions, and mustard, plus a couple of slaw dogs that add slaw to the basic version. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich is always a winner, the onion rings are super crisp and never disappoint, and if you're craving something sweet, they've got those little fried apple pies that are super nostalgic--just like the ones McDonald's used to have when we were kids. It's not fancy, it's not fine dining, and that's exactly the point. Adjust your expectations, don't overthink it, and just embrace the nostalgia. Got in my truck waited and waited. Saw that a number of people behind me had already gotten their food.... After 10 minutes or so in went back in , requesting a refund.. some lady spoke up asking what I had ordered. I told her she said the girl had tried three times to deliver it .... Had a great first experience at Hot Dog World. I've been trying to go for a long time now but whenever in the area it seems like it's always Sunday (when they're closed). Stopped in on the way from ATL to Asheville and so glad I did. They have a huge menu filled with plenty of options. Sammy's and hot dogs. We got a jumbo chili slaw and a regular slaw dog meal. There was a long line when we were there but decided to be patient and wait in it. The line moved super quick and we received our food maybe 5-10 mins after we ordered. Everything was very well priced too. The hot dogs were delicious! I would say for the price they are totally worth it. And the French fries were cooked perfectly. read more

The service here is very good. There is always a line at the counter and the staff moves people along. Food ----- The hotdogs appeared to be a lot smaller than in the past. Our hotdogs arrived....just warm. The vegetable broth soup was served hot. it had ample veggies, but was extremely salty. The French fries were short and were very good. I've been wanting to stop by here and give this place a try, and I got my opportunity on 12/9/23. Stopped by here for lunch with friends and it was absolutely wonderful. This location was some form of drive in "back in the day". Many of the original fixtures are still in place and in use. I ordered a sausage hot dog and an all beef hot dog with fried and a Sprite. Absolutely delicious food!! The ambiance really had a 50's theme to it. We were greeted by friendly staff when we walked in and said we had never been there before so they explained everything to us. We sat with used to be the original dining room that has been converted with roll up type garage doors that open in the warmer months. Can't wait to go back and sit when these doors are open. We'll definitely be back for a return trip. read more

We have been going there for years until we noticed he was buying cheaper brands of hot dogs, lettuce, chicken among other things. I loved their chef salad with grilled chicken, months ago I noticed that most of chicken was tuff and chewy in salad and some of lettuce was rubbery and tough to chew ! Wife noticed that her favorite hot dog was smaller and not as favorable before ( not Nathan) anymore. After years of loving that place we never eat their anymore, tasteless food and higher prices. read more

We heard from locals at this place was super good, so we decided to try it out. My husband is a hot dog aficionado, so he had to try it. That hotdog was really good, very beefy and juicy. They actually have other things that are really good like their chicken and rice soup. They have burgers, gyros, and grilled cheese, too. The service was excellent and with a a smile. I thought it was very nice that the person behind the counter greeted a gentleman who had a veteran's hat on thanking him for his service. Very busy but fast service. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has sort of the garage/large sliding door feel to it. Next time I'll try the grilled cheese with an orange soda. read more

We went on vacation to Hendersonville and I posted on my local foodie fb group where to go eat and this was suggested by a few peeps! It was about a 10 minute walk just barely out of the quaint little shopping district where all the other restaurants are. It was a Thursday night and they were pretty busy! It's a go to the counter and order, they yell back to the cook, you pay, they hand you number and you sit and wait for your food type of place. It definitely wasn't the cleanest of places but the hot dogs were delicious!!! My husband ate his footlong before I could snap a picture, but pictured is the slaw dog -which has chili, mustard, onions and slaw, his foot long was the same but longer! I'd def get that the next time!! and then we also split the smoked sausage dog -mustard, grilled pepper and onions. And don't get me wrong it was good but I just preferred the hot dogs! The gentleman in front of us couldn't believe it was our first time eating there but I did explain we were tourists lol. He said it was owned by a Greek family and to definitely try the smash burgers the next time we get a chance. Went to Dupont State Park to camp for the weekend and on the way back we decided to stop by hotdog world to grab something for the road. This location is situated in an old sonic location and has that classic drive in vibe. Evidently there was a festival happening in downtown propers so traffic was pretty packed the day we visited, but we were still able to find parking adjacent to the location. This restaurant serves burgers, hotdogs and the requisite sides like onion rings, fries and shakes. We ordered two hotdogs, one Carolina style one all American style and we ordered the single and double cheeseburger. We also ordered the onion rings and I tried the banana shake. Everything was great! The hotdogs were fresh and the Carolina style version had really good coleslaw and chili. Both burgers were really good as well but the patties are a bit thin so I would compare them more to a McDonald's cheeseburger, but they were flavorful, the bun was fresh and all of the ingredients were fresh. The banana shake was really good and the best thing I like about this place is everything is super affordable. Burgers were less than seven dollars hotdogs less than five dollars and sides less than five dollars. I would definitely check out this place the next time we're up in the Henderson area. read more

The place was buzzing with customers. Parking lot packed on a Monday evening. Amazed that the prices were very good. I wanted to try several things from the menu so I convinced my husband to split everything with me. I ordered the hot dog with Kraut and mustard. Came wrapped neatly in wax paper. It was fabulous. My husband ordered a chili dog and a cheeseburger deluxe with fries and a drink. His hot dog was also very good. The burger was delicious and so were the fries, crispy and cooked to perfection. The staff smiled and were very helpful. We had the choice of eating in a dining room setting with booths or in a "outdoorsy" setting at tables. I have been going to Hot Dog World from the time it opened. It was so much better when Steve owned it. When I turned 65 and felt too full if I ate a regular size meal, I started ordering kid meals. (I can get them at ALL fast food and some nicer restaurants, as well as senior meals, some places.) One day, I started to order a kid meal and was asked who would be eating it, and was told they charged more if an adult would be eating it. I said it was for a child, and got it to go. Another time, I wanted to upsize the drink and was told I had to pay for an entire extra drink. If I wanted to use a Scout Camp Card (before they stopped supporting the Scouts), they said I couldn't use it for a kid meal (even though it did not say that). Today, I was told they now charged extra for slaw on kid meals. About an hour after I ate today, I became very ill, so now I wonder about that. read more
