There are two Panera locations in Hickory, and this one is the better of the two. They have *some* bakery goods left later at night, where the other location doesn't have any if you have an after dinner sweet tooth. They also have a really nice outdoor patio! The service is always fast and friendly as well. If you've never tried the strawberry lemon mint charged lemonade, it is a MUST for all of you caffeine addicts out there! I have one every single day. The blood orange (sugar free) charger is gross in my opinion, but the mango is my go to if they are out of strawberry.

I received the Sammie at breakfast sandwich ever this morning at Panera Hickory. It was half of half and definitely not worth the money spent. My specialty "iced" coffee was made incorrectly and had two pieces of ice in it. I keep hoping Panera will improve as I've tied in multiple cities to try again to want to spend my money here, each time I'm disappointed.

I have been going to this Panera for at least the last 3 years and I've never had an issue until today. It really pains me to give a less than 4 star review for any Panera because you know, it's Panera! Panera experiences have always given me good vibes BUT this location left me feeling some type of way from the moment the drive thru staff blurted out, "What can I get you?"...the experience only went down from there, short remarks, talking over my spouse and leaving the mike on after remarks so we could hear the chatter and laughter inside. Unfortunately, the food order was no better...I ordered Sweet Tea no ice but it came with ice, I ordered a small cup of ice and that was omitted and to add insult to injury, my perfect Turkey Avocado BLT was watery. Despite this horrible experience today, I will not let it turn me against one of my favorites and what I consider to be one of the Top 5 restaurants. However, based on my experience today and the reviews of others who've visited this location recently, I will not visit this location anytime soon. I am not in Hickory that often but it still makes me sad to mark this location off my list of quick food options. I hope management turns things around soon!

We recently stopped here on our way from NC to VA, and we think this will be part of our travel…read morerotation. We look for highly rated restaurants, close to the interstate and which have outdoor seating because we have dogs. Bringing water for our dogs and cups to take our sweet tea with us, our server, Kiersten, was the epitome of friendly southern hospitality. The barbecue was delicious. You could see the smoker on the property. What set this apart was the choice of sides. There were several sides such as green bean casserole and creamed corn that you don't see at other barbecue joints. We will definitely be back on our next trip to NC.

Tried Hugh Q's BBQ and honestly... pretty mixed experience…read more The cheese curds were hands down the highlight -- uniquely made, you could tell they were fresh, and they came out crispy and full of flavor. Easily the best thing on the table and definitely worth trying. Unfortunately, everything else just didn't live up to it. The BBQ and brisket were a letdown -- lacking flavor, not as tender as expected, and just didn't have that true smoked BBQ quality you look for, especially in a place like Hickory where the standard is high. Service and atmosphere were fine, nothing bad there, but when the main focus is the food, it just didn't deliver the way I hoped it would. Left feeling disappointed and honestly wishing I had gone somewhere else. Might give it another shot down the road, but based on this visit, it didn't live up to the hype for me.

You can't go wrong with Jason's Deli. Not only do they have a great lineup of sandwiches/subs, but…read morethey also have a massive salad bar that can be your meal as well. We visited this Jason's Deli during a recent trip, and for a first time visit, it was up to the same standards as the other Jason's Deli restaurants that we have been to. You order at the counter and pay before sitting down, which ensures that your littles don't change their mind a million times. We got the beefeater with chips plus a one trip salad bar, the kids pizza, and a turkey and cheese sandwich. They used to have turkey and cheese sandwiches on the kids menu, but have removed them, so my littles sandwich was adult-sized and lasted two days. The salad bar is massive, and there's something for everyone on there. We sat in one of the many tables within the restaurant, but there are also booths if that is what you would prefer. The decorations told the history of Jason's Deli and provided for some informational reading as we waited for our food. The beefeater is a massive roast beef sandwich that comes with au jus for dipping - so good! The kids cheese pizza is always just warm enough to eat immediately, but not hot enough that it will burn the roof of your mouth. I didn't realize until after our meal that I actually had a birthday reward for a free dessert, and the staff was kind enough to let me use it after the meal. I chose the strawberry shortcake, and it was pretty tasty. It was big enough to share with my table, although some opted out in lieu of the free ice cream. It was a welcomed stop on our trip, and if we're back in the area, I'm sure we will visit again.
