Place was dirty. Garbage receptacles were over flowing. Employees were not monitoring the dining area and wiping tables off for the next guest. Food was mediocre at best and the bathrooms were filthy. Won't be back anytime soon. Plenty of other restaurants in that area. read more

It has been a few months since I was in here and the experience was horrid. I left a complaint on the website at the so called Customer Care Center. Needless to say I received no response to my complaint so that showed even more so that they were not concerned or cared in the least. I arrived at the store about an hour after it opened. As I pulled into the parking lot I saw 6 employees on the curb (2 sitting and 4 standing) smoking and conversing. I walk inside and 2 employees are sitting at a table eating and when I get to the counter one employee was there. I had never been to Panera Bread before so I took my time looking at the menu board to see if anything caught my eye. Well first I thought my eyes would pop out of socket from the price of a sandwich. So I asked a few questions of what was what and etc. I told the lady at the counter (the only employee working out of 9) I would like more time to look. As I was looking the 6 employees from outside started rolling back in from their smoke break. Every employee went straight to the kitchen and started prepping, cooking, preparing, serving, etc food and supplies.I could see the sink and not one person went to it to wash their hands. After seeing that hygiene was not a priority for the staff after smoking cigarettes, wiping dirt from their backside after getting off the ground and whatever else they touched while on break lead me to believe that the food would not be sanitary. I told the counter lady that I would not be dining and left. I get it everyone is entitled to a break periodically but the whole staff was on break at the same time minus one lady at the counter and their main job is touching food for consumption. Inexcusable. Lets reverse it and let me come in and prepare them some food after doing who knows what on my break and then going straight back to preparing food without washing my hands and see if they would want to eat it. I will not be back for poor sanitary habits and ridiculous high prices. read more

Good food but over priced and portion sizes are small don't go there hungry but if you want something for a small appetite then yes.

Unlike any other Panera Bread! Restaurant never has more than 1 of each type soufflé in the mornings at 7/7:30am. After 3rd visit and restrooms were really bad and left unattended obviously from the night before. All employees were busy sharing cell phone data. There were no other customers in the restaurant when we arrived. After about 10 minutes two other customers came in for carry out. I told staff about restroom but no one cared to respond. read more

This place honestly sucks i've been to soooo many panera's over 50 times and this experience and this location was by far the worst i've had. first off we walk in and it's more packed then ever, but that's not their fault. so we use the personal computers to order and they had no buzzers left but we still order anyway hoping that we get our food. then we heard somebody say that it will take 40 MINUTES FOR FOOD TO COME OUT. like that is ridiculous. lumberton is a place where everybody stops off of I-95 during their long road trips and they gotta be prepared for more CROWDS. we knew that we didn't have 40 mins cuz we had to get back on the road so after spending around $20 we go to ten front after all these people and ask for a refund and they give us hard time about it but we end up still getting it. it looks like that this is a newer location so they definitely need more training especially at this one to handle many customers. The food was the same as every Panera I have ever eaten. I am writing this post because while my wife, child, and I sat outside eating our sandwiches and salads, a young man employee and young woman employee assisted an elderly woman who's mini van stalled in the street adjacent to the restaurant. The young man (Malik) literally pushed the minivan into a parking space and the young woman (Nicole) solicited patrons for jumper cables. I'm not sure how the scene ended because we had to continue on our trip, but I thought it was worth sharing. Heart warming. Total class. read more

Worst Panera Bread I've ever been to! Don't come here if you expect a quick food experience. We waited over 30 minutes for food and didn't even get on the queue the staff/customers can monitor! One lady told me she had been waiting an hour with no food. All we ordered was a mac and cheese and a standard salad, shouldn't take that long to make right? I had to cancel my order and skip dinner for the evening because this pitstop added over an hour to my drive! Management here needs to have more staff on hand to keep up with the demand. I just left Panera Bread. I asked for a Barbecue Chicken Flat Bread. They were out of the Flat Bread which I was Ok with that, I asked could you please make sure it is enough BBQ sauce on the sandwhich and I also got a half chicken with ceasar salad. I get back to work, open up the sandwhich...to be able to see the BBQ sauce you wouldve had to see it with a magnifying glass. I just end up eating the chicken out of the middle of the sandwhich. I said well let me go to the salad. Open up what I think to be a Ceasar with Chicken Salad and there it is with no CHICKEN. I was just outdone with the whole meal. Almost $15.00 of something I can't enjoy....lets do better panera, the food is not cheap so lets make sure customers can enjoy their food. read more

I'm being generous by giving this location 3 stars....while the food here is decent, Panera has raised their prices too high for "ok" food. Is it better than fast food? Yes. Is it worth the average price of 12-13 per person to eat? No way. The pick two option leads you to believe that you and pick 2 items from a selected menu for a seemingly good deal like they used to do in the past. Wrong. You can pick 2, but you will still get ripped off. Another issue at this location, I have found hairs definitely not belonging to me in food. Yesterday I found a long brown hair attached to my bread bowl. At the end of my meal. The manager made it right and apologized. She refunded my lunch bill. When I reported the hair to the kitchen staff, I noticed no hair nets at all. Lots of flowy hair in the kitchen. The manager said that she was only required to make employees wear their "hair up". Hair nets may not be required according to state law, but a company can require it if they choose to do so. The first time a hair was discovered in my supervisor's cookie. Eww. Asked for a dark roast coffee, they don't offer any after 2 pm but offered to make me one if I was willing to wait. I agreed. I waited 10 minutes and was brought a cup of see-through coffee, not dark roast at all. So weak I could see the pile of coffee grounds in the bottom of the cup. Food was great, as usual. I'm a regular customer to this Panera, I grab a bagel and latte there every morning after work. The lady who works the window Brittany, is super friendly and attentive. Always asks how my night at work went and when she greets me in the morning she remembers who I am, addresses me by my name and even knows my order by heart. Absolutely love this Panera. Would recommend this café to anyone. Amazing Staff!! read more
