Panera Bread is always a safe bet when you want something hearty and homey to eat. This was the perfect stop after a cold morning hike. I loved the cream of chicken and wild rice soup with the half Mediterranean sandwich. The girl at the register was so nice and gave me a free cookie while I waited for my food. The wait for the food was quick. I asked them to make my sandwich with a couple extra veggies and they accommodated me, as usual. For a sunday, it wasn't too crowded. You had your usual people there getting some work done, a small after church crew that gathered, and then a few individuals sprinkled throughout. The noise level is very moderate and it allowed for me to have a comfortable conversation with the people I was with. The staff at this location are always so nice. They move so slow in the drive thru. It's ridiculous. Waited 20 minutes for a lemonade. As long as you go inside it's fine.

The ambiance is bad, it's dark, gloomy, gives you vibes that it's not that clean and that there will be a problem with your order. Sure enough after we ordered, we walk to the seating area and every table we went to was dirty and there were spider webs in the floor corners. When my husband asked a staff member if someone could clean a table off? They directed him to some table wipes so he could do it himself. Granted certain locations may be different but I never been to one that instructed the customers to do that. Fast Forward- I received my food order and my Iced Vanilla Madagascar Latte was disgusting (note: it was around 10:30am and they were out of milk). I sent it back, I didn't get the best reaction when I told them it was disgusting (the espresso tasted old) and it wasn't sweet at all. Visited Panera bread recently with my sisters. We spent over $50 . The sandwich my sister was served was extremely salty. She was unable to eat it. We informed the manager who seems to be newly assigned to this location. Her response was shocking as to why we complain about just one particular sandwich served. Rather than replaced it She stated, we don't make the meat there is nothing I can do. We do not replace or remake sandwiches. No apologies at all. Absolute worst coffee - although I'm not sure they ever actually gave me coffee. I ordered iced coffee with a splash of half'n half. I received a cup of milk with a ever so slight tinge of something maybe brownish. I took it back up and they said they would remake it. I explained I liked strong coffee so just a tablespoon of half'n half maybe. Nope...I got the same thing the second time. I gave up. Also ordered bagels bread sliced with cream cheese. YOU ARE... THE BIGGEST LOSER!!!! I have no idea what type of internal Challenges exist for this Panera location, but I truly hope their issues are resolved expediently!!! I placed an order online for pick-up in 20 minutes. Once I arrived there was a line in front, I thought "Wow, they're busy today, the line is all the way out of the door!' I was inaccurate in my assumption, the customers standing there had also placed online orders and were waiting patiently for orders that should have already been ready for what Panera terms "Rapid Pick-Up." Trust me, there's nothing "Rapid" about this location other than the excuses given and the irritation it incites!!! The first customer to receive her order was disappointed with how the bread item items werel thrown loosely in her bag without a sleeve or wrapping, the next customers stated they had been waiting 45 minutes since their order had been placed, my own order process took well over 30 minutes, once I arrived, and it was only a grilled cheese!!!! Ordinarily, I wouldn't expext Panera to mess up a basic sandwich like this, but today this sandwich, was indeed horrible. I had a mouth full of glob!!! The cheese was a cold slab of what I'd liken to set mortar, you could build a house with the thick cold cheese. The upper management team needs to step it up or this store will become a distant memory in the South Suburbs. So I thought, "ok, they are busy, I can understand". So we waited at the curbside for 10 minutes and nothing. So I walked inside and there was a line for the food pickup. So yeah, a little busy. I waited in line for 10 min and eventually asked what had happened toy order. My order was sitting at the delivery cart for 20 minutes. I used you Rapid Pick up on my Panera App, and rushed to get my food 15 minutes later. I arrived, grabbed my bag, and swiftly drove home. Upon my arrival, I discovered that my Bear Claw Pastry was not in the bag! Major Bummer! I bit into my Brioche Bacon Egg Cheese Sandwich, and the egg ran everywhere. It was disgusting! I've ordered these egg sandwiches many times in the past, and they are always cooked a tad bit firmer than this so the egg has never been this fluid before. I called Matteson Illinois store on 4864 211th street and explained the situation to a manager named Kristen. She was extremely argumentative and nasty with me! She told me that was the way that these sandwiches come and that she was not going to replace it! She also told me that they put the pastry in the bag, so she was not going to give me what I paid for! I heard her whisper "OMG" when I placed her on a brief hold. Yes, I was still listening. So, after 4 minutes of arguing with your manager Kristen, I didn't get anywhere, and have decided to update my Yelp review for the Matteson Illinois location and to contact the corporate office. If I could give zero stars I would!!!!The customer service is okay but where is the chicken that's supposed to be on my sandwich???!!!!! I bought 3 Asiago chicken sandwiches and of course the natural thing to do when you get home is to check to see how much meat is on your sandwich. This location is awful. They altered their hours due to the pandemic. They close at 3pm but consistently close at 2:45. They also have the wrong address on the door for their homewood location. We pulled up at 2:48 and the woman was putting the cones up in the driveway. We asked politely to be able to put in our soup orders and she said no. We explained how last time we had to drive all the way to Frankfort to get Panera and we still had over 10 minutes before it closed. My mom is also diabetic and she was getting the shakes. Everytime I go to Panera I see her try her best and enforce better things to benefit the restauran. I do pick up orders only as I plan my day ahead of time and when I do this the pickup location is very inconsistent. It's either behind the cashier or at the pickup sign or on a pickup table. It's extremely tough to get anyones attention for help also. It seems they are all trying to avoid customers so it's a matter of looking for my order myself which is not fun. My phone says "go to rapid pickup" which again, it's probable that it won't be there so it's a little annoying. So many times I've sat and waited and the food has been sitting somewhere getting cold.
